Personally for my own peace of mind I would get the puncture repaired… Not for the MOT but now you have mentioned it you know you will get a flat very soon….

As TJ says 10mm spanner head will be a 6mm thread. If its the nuts that you are after and there is a plastic insert at the top of the nut to lock the thread you will need a M6 Ni-Lock nut.

Had a post card from the DVLA this morning and this is the first paragraph

“From 1 September 2008, if you pay for your vehicle tax by phone or online before the current tax disc runs out, then you can legally drive or keep your vehicle on the road whilst displaying the tax disc that has run out, for up to five days. (Giving time for your new tax disc to arrive by 1st class post).

Hope this clears things up and I will be keeping this card in a safe place till my new disc turns up

I would just ask for a breakdown of their costs. Maybe their labour costs maybe a bit more and if they have used a genuine Ford droplink but I would have thought they would use a motorfactors eqivalent. Also check what is involved in an 80k service. It may involve brake fluid change or other things. This will put the price up quite a bit.

Just read £140 parts. Thats a tad excessive imho.

I would guess an annual diesel service at a non main dealer would be around £150-£180 and the ARB drop-link about £10-£15 plus 1 hours labour (£35-£40) so I guess it should be no more than £250-£260.
This is just what I would expect to pay, anymore and I would be asking questions.

I’m pretty sure on the Vectra you will need a 7mm allen key to undo the 2 slider bolts. Once they have been removed you should be able to remove caliper. Then push piston back keeping an eye on the fluid level. Remove old and fit new pads. Fit caliper back over pads and screw slider bolts back in. As for the rears you will need a wind back tool to reset the piston. I have bodged in the past and used a pair of long nosed pliers but most times you need the tool. Front and rear pads should take no more than an hour.

Yes mate. Had a power cut at home so went up for a few hours. Lovely and frozen, no mud and lots of fun. Only downside was full of walkers.

I_Ache, got mine yesterday. I found one at Perry Bar, when I got there they couldn’t find it. But did a search for me and found one at Wolverhampton. Got there and found out one part was missing so they let me have it for £5….

    Theres 5 at Southampton apparently… 😉
