I quite often blowing them a kiss often invokes a self combustion from within the car quite nicely.

Personally, I’d just let it slide and move on. Nobody died, and the police really have more on their plate.

    Much less stress that way.

The rocky bastard bit just after the woopy bit that saps the power that you had left after that short sharp climb…

^^ I’m with stupid. I’d love to see a cross bike bounce down Red Barn.

    Don’t forget, it’s not an 1hr spin around the track, it’s an 8hr race…

Yep, I’ve fitted my Goodridge hoses to new XTR M980 levers and they’d previously been fitted to older style Shimano levers.

That said, I’ve not noticed any difference.

ETA: I’m looking to do this very thing myself, XTR levers on Saint calipers.

My LBS Psyclewerx is selling off one of the member of staffs AMR 9500 with full XTR for £2000.

    Just sayin.

dazh and trimix; that was the descent that claimed my gash above my eye – I was railing down there, having a whale of a time, enjoying the memories of the Megavalanche that it brought back, when as I was battling to get around the tighter right handers with the ruts a bit too quickly, my bars caught on a root sticking out on the side, and put me into the bank, whereupon I clouted another root with my head.

I did a quick ‘I’m alive and is it bleeding to buggery?’ check, and then just got back on and boosted the rest of the trail.

I’ll agree, that was one of my favourite bits, proper old school gravity assisted speed with a massive drop to the left ala The Alps.

    ETA: 3hrs 20mins? ****. Orf. Inhuman nutter.

Well. Thanks to my mates who said that it’d be fun ‘and you’ll really enjoy the CyB trails, they’re ace’, I spent about 4 hours in a very dark place, wishing my front mech would work so I didn’t have to mash out my 38t front ring and generally wondering where the DHy bits where.

Of the few flowing trails, there were some seriously peachy bits, but it was all eroded by the abiding merciless climbing. So much climbing.

You’d climb up something huge, go around a corner and there’d be another massive climb. With another climb around the corner.

    Then there was THAT climb.

As for the evil car park loop, I spent much of my time after that devising ways to murder the route creator. I also spent a significant amount of time try to calculate miles into km, as my GPS reads in old money. I spent pretty much about 3 hours trying to do that until I remembered my car reads 160km/h to 100mph. Even then, it took me a good half an hour to calculate the 1.6 x current mileage. I gave up in the end in the hope that perhaps I’d wasted so much time trying to work it out, I’d plop out into the finish.

    Which we did. Plop indeed.

I had some sort of impression that CyB had mega fast fun sections.

Bugger me though, if they weren’t in there on Saturday.

T-shirt, mug done, and a visit to the St Johns ambulance, to check my eyebrow out after an argument with a tree on that stupidly fast loamy section in the woods with the drop to the left. Stupid sticky out roots.

Oh, and thanks to the chap handing out on the spot prizes, my black chilli Conti Mountain King tyre was a pleasant treat after a hard day.

Then we went and rode Llandegla the next day (albiet very slowly on the ups). And messed about with the Athertons on the pump track for a while.

All in all, I’ll notch that up as A. Good. Weekend.

    Good lad :)

Apparently it’s the form here to point out some form of inadequacy in bike sizing, so here goes.

Think your cranks are a bit long for your legs.

Kingkingsfinger, I did a very similar wheel build but using white hubs and rims (from a EX1750 wheel set) – the spokes I used were cheaply Chinese jobbies, what did you use?

Ps, very much liking your Trek…

With the greatest of respect, Janesy, who are you to comment on someone you haven’t met and their bike setup being wrong?

I can ride my bike rather swifty and do things such as the Mega four times without dieing, so I think my choice of bike sizing is a personal thing.

Rather a daft comment if you haven’t met the person.

Well thegeneralist, funny you should say that…

Having learnt how claiming for a bike works, I take a LOT of pics of my bikes.

Plus, I’m rather proud of them. As they’re mine, and I can’t take shots of me riding it. Cos, you know, I’m riding it at the time.

I do believe that’s in full razz home on the road after the trails mode. I’m a lanky git at 6′ 3″, so in order to stop my legs exploding, the saddle goes up.

For trail riding, it’s a little lower, and the medium suits my riding style.

Hey, 4th on the Leigh Woods Swoop can’t be bad for someone supposedly riding the wrong bike at that time…

    ;)

    Cheeky **** :p

backtothetop, you’ll also find that moving the saddle forwards helps bring in the calves, hamstrings and glutes into play more, meaning you’ll be more powerful through your pedal stroke.

There’s a reason why roadies run their seats as far forwards on the TT and track bikes…

Pfft, you lot aren’t even trying properly.

If you’re going to pimp, at least do it properly and put a gold chain on to match your gold ti nitrided discs…

Wait for the payment to clear and then send.

Unless I’m wrong, I’d say that it’s pretty safe?

    Once run in, bloody excellent.

Something to note, when running headphones on a laptop, use an external amp, like Fiio E6 as it’ll hugely improve the quality of the sound.

Well, the two other guys I’m going with will be, and they’ve my cards marked.

I just want to survive and enjoy the trails really, which I guess if I take that attitude will mean it’ll be enjoyable.

What is a usual time for CyB 60k?

    Morning Gary!

We’re planning on riding the two days after (llandegla and Ffestinog probably), so that should keep us going.

My training consists mainly of smashing out 15miler rides (and annoying Gary) home via AC/LW, so nothing huge.

I’m hoping I should make it to the 60km cut off.

Gary, you see my Strava postings, think I’ll do any good?

Are these hedges any good for security? Am considering planting some down the side of my land and up the side of the garage to keep the tea leafs away from it…

    Yep. Me too.

However, it’s made me a shed load faster and made me really enjoy ‘riding’ again, in so far as I enjoy the pain now, and enjoy keeping going.

Getting KOMs is like a sexual endorphin hit though, it must be said.

I’ve now moved onto the harder stuff on http://www.trainerroad.com

No, they’re not. Keep the policy rolling and it’ll remain.

Stop it, and you become a new customer again.

Hang onto it for dear life…as you’ll not get anything anywhere as good – my last claim ended up being a 5k payout for a single bike!!!

Must admit, the last two mags have been fantastic, actually, so was the one with Helen Mortimer in it too – incredible interview and really hard hitting.

Steve Peats interview was amazing, as was the insight on Shaggy.

It may be 9 quid, but it’s worth it if you can afford it.
