Thanks all – its Sea Mills they went from – buggers went straight in with bolt croppers through the roof and left the two road bikes (both nice).

    Daytime theft too.

M&S once again being amazing, already been given a very good offer (I insured the Zesty declared).

Just not sure if I want to buy another, and if I do, do I buy another nice one?

I’ve recently done this. It increased my premium by quite a bit, mainly because the replacement value of my main bike is over 6k.

All others are <2k, so I concentrated on this one. She explained that the ceiling value is 10k – but they will new for old on anything under that.

Which is nice to know, knowing that I would never be able to replace the thing again.

We tried a few ups and downs on excess, with a £200 excess it reduced it a fair bit over what they originally wanted.

I have claimed a few times, with one £5k claim, so I’m not exactly their most favourite customer!

Still worth it however, they were impeccable each time.

Done, and cheers Dan, I’ll get buying.

You wouldn’t happen to have a track listing of the music in the video would you?

Really liked some of the chilled out stuff :)

That one of Shaun Palmer roosting it into the berm.

Or the one of Missy Giove doing broadly the same.

    I’m a sucker for drifts.

Wow. What a lovely video. Makes me ache to go back there.

Makes me more determined that I will emigrate back and use my Canadian passport to give me and my family a better environment to enjoy and live in.

Thanks guys, another video in the armory of inspirational ‘make me want to go ride’ vids.

ETA: Make me really miss one of my best mates who’s buggered off to live in Squamish. The git. One of the best times of my life was simply relaxing for two weeks and chewing the fat over there, riding the local trails. Dan, you probably know him, Craig…

    I’m heading up there chaps.

Anything anyone need in particular? I’ve probably got it.

I’m even going to try and dig out some 8spd for Agency Scum.

Gotta say however, and it’s a real shame as I love the Zesty, I’m pondering if it’s worth flogging the new frame on and getting something else…

Oh very good point. I’m running Havens with 9mm hub on the rear.

I can’t remember if you can get conversion kits, but I think there are – but is it 10×135 or 12×135?

Looks like I’ve just succumbed to exactly the same malady; I’ve hardly ridden the bike really so when I noticed it I was rather surprised.

However, is heartening to know it’s a result of manufacturing issues (which I did wonder)…

Will be nice if I ended up with a 2013 :)

    Hi Sheck,

    They’re 1″ 1/8th, and 204mm long. White crown.

Get in quick tho, as I’ve someone who is about to say yes right now.

    Cheers

Arguably its a win win situation.

Mud Dock sells more coffee and cake
Agency Scum gets more free coffee and cake
Other Jumble sellers get more business (hopefully) as more people will attend
I might get a few more tokens towards the new bike that missus really doesn’t want me to buy

neninja; really? By Hotlines or Lapierre themselves?

From my personal point of view, that’s not an issue as I’m the original owner of all my bikes and can provide receipts for all of them (including for the next owner).

Does sound odd if they’re refusing paid for requests however.

Surely however, a good relationship with a LBS would help here? I know if I asked my LBS who sell Lapierre to source me a spare part they would without hesitation.

Does sort of help that I’ve bought 2 Lapierre’s from them mind you.

I have one for use with my laptop at work, and it’s a must buy – the extra power is welcomed, and as mentioned, much more depth.

I paid £18 for mine, and would buy another without a second thought.

Works well with an iPhone or other generic music player.

I’ll be heading down with the following:

    Lapierre Spicy frameset £400
    Rock Shox Pike 454 £150
Rock Shox Reba World Cups £175
Shimano XT M780 10 Speed Triple Chainset £100
    Shimano XTR M960 triple 9spd Chainset £80
    Shimano XTR M960 9 spd shifters £50
On One frame, large, chocolate brown £70
Shimano XTR M960 9 spd rear mech £50
    Trek Y11 Frame, Medium £150
Shimano XTR M960 Hydraulic Shifters £100
    Shimano Ultegra 6500 (I think) calipers £50
Fox Float 32 QR lowers in white as new £50
Fox uppers std 32 OEM as new £50
    Easton Haven carbon bars £60
    Park PCS9 workstand £50

A mate is bringing loads of stuff along too.

Additionally, if anyone has a specific request for something they need, give me a shout as I may have something :)

I just got myself one of these for work http://www.dabs.com/products/sandisk-480gb-extreme-sata-6gb-s-2-5–solid-state-drive-80C2.html?src=2

Bonkers quick, and possibly one of the best prices about at the moment.

Bought the wife and I a John Lewis DAB radio http://www.johnlewis.com/231264324/Product.aspx

Annoyingly I’ve just noticed they have it reduced down to £99.99 from the £129.99 that I paid for it just before XMas

However, it’s a bloody good bit of kit and I’m really pleased with it even if I’ve missed out on the reduced price.

Does DAB as well as iPod, Internet Radio and also any shared media servers you might have on your wireless network.

Good sound to, with two speakers, and a good quality bass. I’d recommend (especially at £100 – not that I’m bitter).

They’ll rescind this, you mark my words.

Google were the ones whom tried to do this with all your ‘Google’ stuff about 4-5 years ago.

Needless to say, it was rescinded within days of it’s annoucement, and watered down.

You can get special gloves now that work with touchscreens.

Do they come in Lesser spotted Angolian minkskin in purple?

Rode the new park yesterday and had a whale of a time; ALL of the new trails are utter balls out fun – the berms perfect, and the jumps well spaced and lipped/timed.

I was catching up on some lost time not jumping and was really enjoying jumping about. The highlight of the day is the far left trail which is huge fun and an absolute blast.

Here’s a video of our messing around yesterday…

Chaps. As much as this all sounds lovely, lets not forget that they’re probably linked into distributor EDI systems too.

So whilst they may not physically have it in stock, they’re able to get it from the distributor.

Hence, why they’ve probably been saying they hold 2500 SRAM chains or 1200 cleats, which I think is VERY unlikely knowing how wholesale stcok forecasting works and the absolute need to keep stock as low as possible at any time (bar fast moving lines), using mentally complicated forecasting…

Surely though, if he knew he was going to be on £85 a week, being overpaid a weeks wages and blowing it is his lookout, however unfortunate the situation is?

Anything by Becker, especially the Grand Prix range[/url].

Agh, seems they’ve decided to stop production of car stereos now. Well worth seeking out if someone’s still got stock of though; I had one in my BMW and it was bleeding ace.

    Rubber Queen Black Chilli 2.2.

I can’t believe how grippy the damn thing is, it’s possibly the best tyre I’ve ever ridden up front.

ETA, sorry, saw your price requirment.

In that case, a used Maxxis Advantage 2.25.

    Neil_Bolton

Zesty. Mines the go to bike when I’m knackered or my arse hurts, and I just want to get round something with minimum of fuss; my Soul needs to much effort to make it go fast.

It’s perfect for the longer rides such as CyB enduro or the BikeFest’s as it mean you go for longer for less grief.

It’s also a demon descender and I’m looking forward to getting it out to the Alps next year for a Mega or something similar.

Trust is a two way thing. It can’t be one sided; i.e. she must trust you that you’re faithful, rather than have to resort to reading emails/text/facebook.

That said, mine does it occasionally and it does get right up my nose more because it’s bloody rude.

That, and if I were so inclined, as IanMunro says, I couldn’t do anything as a surprise.

No point upgrading unless you fancy lockout (which is nice).

I’ve always found the shocks a little underdamped on rebound, so a service with a proper tune would be a good shout.

If you DO fancy shiney, then get a kashima can upgrade at the same time – think TFT do them for £50 on top of the service cost.

Rubber Queen Black Chilli 2.2 up front, with a CrossMark 2.1 on t’ rear.

If you’re a bit girly about grip and all that at the back, then slap another Rubber Queen on the back, or a Maxxis Advantage 2.1 instead.

I’m a firm believer in the Rubber Queen way up front now, having just converted. I like the fast running of the CrossMark – but appreciate the driftyness isn’t to everyones liking – they climb pretty well though.

    ETA, as you can see:

I can do stupidity. I did the Mega for 4 years running don’t forget.

Now then, didn’t think I’d be chatting to the chap who wrote the book that nearly had me miss my bus stop this morning on the way to work (I’d have ridden in this morning, but have an appt later, just in case anyone was wondering).

I’d like to think that I’d be in a position to set myself a target of an IM one day; after all, working alongside experienced IMs and people such as Robin Brew, for example, I always had huge admiration for them.

As such, I really appreciate the advice and encouragement, especially from Holgs. Perhaps we could get him onto the trails ;)

Now I’m a bit older, bit fatter, and a bit more stupid, I’ve realised that I should just get on and do it.

That and the girls are hot to look at.

I have; I’ll be pulling on their coat tails as much as I can – it’s going to be hard to not be a mountain biker tho. Big culture shock!

Perhaps. I was just thinking something more that I could do locally really.

ETA: Yes, I know Mega is hardly local, but you know what I mean.

Can I point out, if I may, just to give some idea of clarification on what makes me tick.

I’ve done the Megavalanche 4 times (and done reasonably well, lining up in the bigs boys race). And, god help me, I might be going back again next year.

So I’m not shy of a challenge that requires a lot time in a dark place of pain.

It’s just I say I hate it, when I always secretly love it and can’t wait to do it again.
