Loads of people take drugs with no problems, it’s not called recreational drug use for nothing.

Only someone on drugs would compare illegal drugs to alcohol.

The listed weight is 650g, didn’t weight them but they did ‘feel’ light. they weren’t ‘easy’ to setting up tubes, took three scoops, loads of shaking about and three days to finally get to hold air. seem fine now though, held air for a week or so with no apparent loss of pressure.

I was thinking about ti rotor bolts and a ti bolt kit for the stem :) frame already has a ti bolt kit kit as standard. tried egg beaters and didn’t get on with them. always preferred the shimano ‘click’.

Sounds similar to what mine was. it feels totally different like this, faster and more nimble. I think I’ll keep and eye out for a heavier duty wheelset for the alps but the rest will probably be left as is. well, maybe an xtr clutch mech ;)

Mine is not leaking air or fluid, used it at the weekend and it seems to be fine. Just not great that it has play. Its only around a mm but in my eyes that still too much even taking tolerances into consideration.

There’s no way its going back to TF, one its under warranty and two they royally ruined my Lyric’s a couple of years ago, never again.

Four years ago I took the plunge and bought some mw80’s. only now are they starting to look a bit tired but they’ve had four winters and two years commuting, not bad in my eyes and to be honest worth every penny.

After having a diesel for 4 years I went to a petrol, I hated it. I just prefer the way diesels drive. I have had some issues with well known faults such as DMF etc on one car but the other two have been fine. My diesel isn’t that economical (45-48mpg) but it’s nippy and I just like the way it drives. Just my opinion

I did the same route on my Boardman CX Pro but didn’t have panniers on. I did it in two days and stayed in a B&B. I didn’t struggle with gearing but that could be down to the difference in weight we were carrying.

To answer your question though yes that’ll work. You’ll need a long cage mech as its got to take the chain on very small gears and the larger cogs. Any mtb long(er) cage mech will do

I really like the look of those wheels, sorry for the ignorance but what hubs & build weight please.

They were 1605g with normal rim tape

this is the only pic i’ve got to hand, any good? Basically it goes under the top tube and then is zip tied to the rear brake hose (I think).

Wheels were ProII/819’s, top wheels and really strong but a bit weighty compared to the Crest’s. A remnant from my old 160mm bike were the four pot Saint brakes. Tyres were 2.4″ Advantage/2.25 Ardent LUST. So each part there had a big weight drop.

I have to say I’m not over the moon about this. having a shitty joplin I expected play, but the reverb was bought to avoid that. Yes it looks nice and yes it has a nice action but they’re not reliable. this one hasn’t done anything other than being taken out of the box!

Can’t fault the service but I really can’t be arsedsending it back again. so basically its not meant to have bushing play then is that what we’re saying? Nothing?

I’ve recently used just 2.5wt oil, worked fine. Then of course the typical air loss problem happened and the good guys at Fishers warrantied it.

Saturday night I think is going to be my first nightride of the year. Didn’t do much at last winter but I think I’ll give it more of a go this year. Moving to my native north east, so old friends and home trails are a good combination :)

100% mudgurards. I used to commute 12 miles each way for two years and you’d be surprised what you can get away with clothing wise when you’ve got full mudguards on.

properly thought out internal cable routing would be nice.

On the dropper post hose thing I’ve got mine to work ok, took the shock off and routed it with one of the cables under there, not ideal but looks OK.

I have a very similar bike to that one. I just wouldn’t sell it as a complete bike, even though it’s probably worth that I wouldn’t personally pay that for a second hand bike. I wouldn’t see it as saving money but loosing it if it ever broke or got damaged.

Selling that as bits is the way to go but I’m not sure he would get even selling it as bits.

I’ve just got some Rubber Queen Protection’s and had the same issue. I put two cup fulls in and did the shake and spin thing. Pumped them up to about 60psi to seal the bead. Overnight it went flat. So, took the valve core out and put another cup full in and did the same and it seems to have worked.

Before buying my car I looked quite hard to get a ST TDCI Mondeo estate for around £7k but I couldn’t find any with reasonable mileage (under 60k). They weren’t made for that long so there aren’t that many about. The ones I found were out of my budget.

Classic. haven’t read a thread like this on STW for ages :)

FWIW I totally agree with the OP in that taking a dog to a trail centre, especially on a weekend is selfish and irresponsible. But taking one out on quieter trails is in my eyes, fine. The ironic thing is that these segregated mtb trails were designed around reducing user conflict, seems that they’ve just created another

Yep. my best mate has just got the same bike, amazing spec for the money and really well thought out. He isn’t getting on with the Mountain King I tyres it came with so he’s looking at the Mountain King II’s or Rubber Queen’s in 2.2″.

Aside form that invest in some decent riding gear or a weekend away! :)

Seeding should stay, but if like me you pull a good seeding time out of the bag, only to get someone who’s time was blatantly wrong and held me up on every stage, pretty annoying.

Perhaps the avalanche guys should be invited to come and play.

    Sensible idea surely?

Mandatory full face lids would piss me off. There’s little to no reason for them as Europe don’t have that rule as far as I’m aware?

As for these people asking for an unbelievably tech track, that’s not what its about. It’s meant to be a mixture of fitness AND skill. Timings between stages this year were a joke, you could have walked between them easily and these need to be tightened up, however there needs to be a robust way of dealing with people who are late, and I suspect there will be a lot of them
