the manual says every 50 hours, i think the fork has only done that maximum?! there’s no mention of this strip and clean in the manual? only a service every 50 hours?

does the warranty cover this? looking in the manual and on the sram website it doesn’t say it doesn’t?

the forks feel a little sticky compared to how they were before the weekend? i’ve put some lube on and they feel a lot better.

should i get in contact with fishers? Or live with it and just get them serviced (sorry but i’m inclined to nolt agree with this).

i am too! performance and condition of the forks was mint until yesterday which yes, was a muddy ride, but i still don’t think that it should have been that easy to get past the seal?

i have two bikes and these are on my ransom that i don’t use too often, they are certainly on the recomended service time. you can just feel the lines with your finger.

they haven’t had a lower leg service. how often are they meant to have that? i thought it was just a service every 30 hours or so?

i wouldn’t use epoxy on them, that would just look tatty wouldn’t it?

check but i’m fairly sure you need at least a silver with the upgraded racing licene suppliment.

it’ll be worth it, i’ve heard they’ve built some really nice trails up there, the format seems good, i reckon more will happen like this or they should!

that fat chance is so nice!!!!!!! my nicest bike was a 1993 Dynatech MT500 with 93 XTR and Pace RC35’s, bonded Ti, out of date but was cutting edge at the time ha ha

love them, and they work so well for ages too. every bike i’ve built up has never worked properly, at least not as well as the off the peg bikes i’ve got now.

racing license gives you greater ins cover, doctors note will be a one event only thing

started with a 1993 Raleigh Apex with 400LX gears and a girven flexstem on it! nice. got a paper round and over the course of about 12 months put nearly full 94 XT on it

i really wanted to do this race, like really wanted too but when i looked into the doctors thing it put me right off. you need either a full racing license or a note from your doctor which will involve a medicle (ca £75). i realise why they have to do it because they’re a french co and thats the way there, too much money for me though

i think its a really good trail, just a shame that when i went up there one of the loops was closed, was it this weekend?

I went round Ingleton on sunday doing the MBR ride loop, it was a real slog but enjoyable. Thats the main thing i like about trail centres that i suppose is there down fall, they are always the same. any type of weather.

Did you go in the shop? the guys in there are mint!

Looking for some guiding and some free days too. taking my scott ransom so for want of a better phrase I want to go ‘all mountain riding’ errr I hate that word.

Lift access is of course something we want to do.

I’ve been to the alps a couple of times and I’ve heard that Canada is better?

    Any thoughts?

I had exactly the same choice and I went for the thule ones. I use them every weekend without fail and i just thought that i’d spent a fortune on a bike so should I skimp on the roof attachments and racks?

They’re transferable to its a decent investment (racks that is)

the sign of a bad shop, i had exactly the same experiance with another shop. i took my bike in to have the brakes bleed. I was just being lazy as i’d tried myself but just couldn’t seem to get it all out. I said could they check the pads to see what they were like. they checked and said that the front were worn out. i said fair enough bought some hope pads and left. got home and took the old ones out to find out that they were only half worn down!

I got another 2-3 months out of them! still, haven’t gone back

endura strikes i’ve found to be really good, almost entirely waterproof and strike (no pun intended)the right balance between warmth and comfort.

i love some of that stuff so much! thing is my girlfriend would have a case to go mental with that sort of stuff. £200 or so for the stuff i’d like and its completely pointless ha ha

evoloution is part of any sport and especially one as young as ours, but things evolve with a need to find a solution to something? dics brakes, indexed gears, spd’s. people walk into shops now that have been reading marketing bumph and MBUK and look straight at ‘all mountain’ bikes with 1.5″ headsets and 7″ travel and then ask for full body armour and lightweight full face helmets. i mean come on?

bikes have now evolved into fantastic things that on the whole offer good value for money and give great experiences. my point, which people like GNARGNAR seem to be taking a bit too heart (Freerider obviously?) is that people are sold an idea on a lifestyle and they admittadly do that then fair enough, but many of these people forget the routes of the sport and how its eveolved? many people have never heard of John Tomac and have always ridden in trail centres as Chipps said in one of his arcticles, and this is fine also, just not me

they are all expressions from the baggy pant, too cool for school generation. people don’t realise that these are terms dreampt up to create niche markets that were already covered?

why pigeon hole yourself? its all just mountain biking. do people honestly say they are going ‘freeriding’ at the weekend???!!!!

i’ve done it twice, both in two days which is more than doable but hard going, for me anyway? i did it with just a back pack and stayed at Alston youth hostel. you could do it on a tourer but i’d still rather do it on my hardtail with some sensible tires?

i’ve done it in both directions and they say its easier from the west to east but i didn’t feel any difference?

all sound like good ideas, i’ve had it for about 3 months now but i have to say that mine had cleared up until i broke my bike and then proceeded to run back to the car with it! not a clever idea?

the way that i solved it before was rest, but that was nearly two months off the bike and from the gym, i’m trying these stretches and they seem to be working, guess we’ll see.

thanks for all the hints and tips people!

well not with mine, injured my hip running a few months ago which in turn has caused perfiformis syndrome. i’ve had some treatment then it went away. came back the other weekend. can’t afford another 2 months of physio at £320 a month so looking for some cheaper, home solutions?

    neil853

i’ve looked and there’s loads of descriptions but hardly anything on how to CURE it. it all says go to a physio and pay £30-40 per hour! if you find some solutions please insert a link

i’m not convinced on all of these ‘extremely’ breathable jackets, they look nice but you still sweat buckets in them. plus if you come off its a lot of money to rip?

    like i said i’m not convinced………

try and make sure your drivetrain is as clean as possible, a shitty drivetrain sometimes causes it.

I really wanted to do the avalanche enduro at kielder but when filling out the application form it asks for you to either have a racing license of a note from your doctor saying your fit enough?

i emailes the co and they said that because they are a french co they need these things! that puts approx another £50 on the entry price?!

Shame……like i said really wanted to do it
