i think they were all ok at the time? quadra 21's were awesome atthe time, remember when 60mm was long travel! i had some duke sl's, worked well.

loved my judy DH's! just wish my lyric 2 steps had a better service interval 🙁

mag 21's were ground breaking, kind of wish they'd go back to that proper oil bath system

i went round on my mountain king 2.4 's ok? in fact they gripped well. but i would like to try some kenda small block 2.4's, i reckon they'd be ace. mate has some on his SC and they seem to grip well in everything except deep(ish) mud 😀

I would have a look at guisburn, i'm in preston and tried it last week and enjoyed it, lots on singletrack and some really interesting stuff there. really well built too. Nothing scary or anything but it will keep you entertained all the way round. thinks its around the 10-12 mile mark? 2 laps maybe?

For the recored I like Llandegla too, plus they've built some new stuff there thats meant to be quite good, not sure if thats open though?

i really like them too, i'm going to try a rubber queen on the front soon as someone has said they aren't great off camber and i would have to agree with that, very quick though for a 2.4

i have both the frame mounted ones and fork mounted on the roof at the minute. had to buy one fork mounted as my new bike wouldn't allow a frame mount. they are both thule ones and are both excellent.

there's only one problem, well not problem more a design floor, and thats that i can't lock my bike on to the rack like the frame mounted ones because i have a 20mm axle, so it attaches via the maxxle, all safe and secure mounting wise but not locked on, just means i have to remember a lock if its going to be left anywhere, which to be honest it never is but could have done with it on the ferry a few weeks ago?!

its a horrible seatpost, whether frames are meant to have layback or not they shouldn't have to look like that 😆

there isn't really a solution as the pads absorb the oil, then emit it under heat, i.e when you need the power the most. I got some muc off disc cleaner that works if you know when you've put the oil on and apply straight away (apparently) seems to have worked for me?

I'd just buy some more pads from superstar

absolutlely stunning, i'd have the saint 4 pots though, but then i would as i've got some 😀 just got back from les gets and i have to say i really rancy a dh bike again, just trying to justify it and find places to ride it near me (NW england)?

    Brant,

Have to say this is a market that could be exploited with the right product. I have a speedball that is a good product except for the complete lack of longevity. The function is good but like someone else has said on here, the rotational play is excessive and happens quickly. An issue for me (rightly or wrongly) is also asthetics. The speedball (joplin) are a good looking item, the gravity dropper is one of the ugliest products known to man.

Due to the situtaion of spare parts becoming obselete for my maverick i'll be after another adjustable seatpost, the thing is i don't think any of the current products are any good, or at least proven to be reliable.

I'd certainly be interested with any proucts you come up with?

i've done it a couple of times and i intend on doing it again probably on a 29'r that i'm fancying. Done it on an mtb twice, once with slicks once with treaded tyres. easy route depending on how many days you take. I did it in two which was tough for me the second time and yet the first was easier?

see what i mean, all of them seem to have problems? 🙄

    neil853

I'm going to have to have a look at them. I seem to remember a review which said they were the best of the bunch. Do they have much play?

Its obvious that in a very short time parts are going to become almost impossible to get for my maverick.

I still find it incredible that a high value product like this can a) go out of production so quickly and b) after doing so spare parts become obselete so quickly. Is there not some law that spare parts have to be made available for a certain amount of given time? Or is that just cars?

Guide block is only half the battle though, the black sleeve is obviously the other half, which is nigh on impossible to source in my size

"Then just buy a Gravity Dropper and stop whinging"

Is this post relaible? My point is that it seems a major gample with in excess of £200 spent on something that you don't know how reliable it is/isn't? Plus its ugly as sin!!!

The lad above which I have mentioned has, and the link above in the states also has them. but in my case i need the black outer sleeve and thats like rocking horse poo in a 31.6 size (£45 in 30.9).

    definately a flawed design
