There's a mtb club in guisborough now, seem like a good bunch of lads. i've not ridden with them yet (don't live in the NE anymore) but the website looks good and they do rides during the week and at weekends, link is below. I'm going to get out with them next time i'm visiting the ol'boy and girl

i bought mine from wiggle but wolley hat shop were doing some cheap as well. haven't tried tubless yet but its on my mind

I was at exactly the same point two weeks ago after around a month of nearly buying. In the end I went for the kenda combination (BG & Nev). They are amazing tyres when it comes to grip. Way way way better than the MK's I ran for almost two years. Don't get me wrong, I liked the MK's (2.4's), they offered a good compromise of grip, speed and puncture resistence especially pinch flats.

But grip wise the kenda's p**s all over them. Speed wise they're a little slower but not too bad, nothing sapping like. The only issue I have is that they're really not great for puncture resistance. The first weekend I had three pinch flats and one puncture. I'm still playing around with tyre pressures but I haven't struck the balance between being soft enough for grip and stopping punctures yet.

Depends on where you ride though, I live in the north west and so ride in the lakes a lot and such like.

i want the one with the hub gear, the all mountain one 😆

sorry to disagree Xan i'd upgrade the rear shock, the pikes aren't a bad unit and would cost a lot to upgrade to something significantly better

I think any manufacturer has issues with monday morning/friday afternoon jobs. my mate has an 08 meta and has no problems at all and thats riding twice a week for a year and crashing continuously in france 😉 i have a carbon scott ransom that people have had issues with and yet i've also ridden mine for 12-18 months and also had no problems 😆

i'm riding there from around 10:30 so i hope so 😕

I have just bought a blue groove for the front and a nevagal for the back. And I have to say i'm split down the middle, the grip is truely awesome, and i mean awesome. Certainly up there with the best tyres i've ridden. rolling resistance is bareable, not as good as my MK's but then again i didn't expect them to be.

The only problem is their apparent lack of puncture resistance. I did a ride up in the lakes saturday and had one pinch flat and one puncture, then i went to Gisburn sunday and had another pinch flat. Maybe conincidence but I didn't have this issue with the MK's

Shiny – i'd like to know how you get on with your gravity dropper. I have a maverick and now the actual black sleeve has worn (the part which mates with the guide block) and that carries a $55 repair charge, i'm not going to pay that as parts are only going to become more rare and its becoming uneconomical.

The gravity dropper seems to be the best of a bad bunch 🙄

Llandegla/lakes Saturday and Gisburn Sunday, got mates coming up from London and Peterbrough for beers and riding.

i've a set of acids that the drive side has seized up on, bit disappointing after only 14 months. i have a set of shimano's that are 10 years old now and still going strong 🙄

just watched the 2hr footage on freecaster, tears in my eyes and everything! watched steve race, sometimes i've been lucky enough to see him race in person, since 1993. just awesome to see him get that final piece of history.

Had mine for about a month now without any problems, charger gets warm but not hot, brightness is equal if not higher than a led4 and the run time is amazing, over the 3 hours they state. About three or four mates also have them and without any faults for longer than me?

bottom line is i recognise that you get what you pay for, but mine have been faultless (as have my mates) for the price we've paid, can't ask for more than that.
