i can see why people join and ride with them but they aren't for me, What they are useful for is riding when your mates let you down.

I have had a set (3) of Thules for two years covering literally thousands of miles with no hick up's what so ever. Can't help but think that 99% of problems with these things are human related (not fitting them on racks correctly) 🙄

FC passes only cover the venue you purchase at. I think they're missing a trick here, i would buy an annula pass no worries if it covered all my centres (NW and Wales). But £6/7 a day is a lot, especially when there may bge two or three cars there in total. I still pay, i just complain because i'm British 😆

absolute legend, gutted as it means our chance in London 2012 has just gone down. Granted we have a talented squad but he will certainly be missed. Watching him start the team spint was amazing, Hoy and co could barely keep up!

yep, and its not just Hamsterly, its happens at every one. Having said that i went to Whinnlatter the other week and it was £6! thats more than a bit steep, not as bad as Dalby maybe but still steep. 😯

I leave mine on top of my skoda octavia diesel all the time. It knocks off about 2-3mpg with just the roof bars and rack on (non aero bar type) and 5-10mpg with the bikes on the roof (3 bikes), but that depends on how many people i have in the car and how much kit too.

When i drove down to france last year with three people and all the kit for the week the car still did 40mpg which i was quite pleased with.

I don't really worry about the fuel econ, worth the little less for the convienience of the racks.

no not my first, my third ha ha yeah been out with chucky before but i'm looking forward to it. The stuff i have done is limited so it will be good to see over towards winter hill.

Look, this arguement is flawed. Its all about value for the money, or the perception of it. A chainset for £250 seems reasonable (ish), but 3 chainrings for £200, doesn't.

Like i've said above there are plenty of singlespeed people wanting rid of there's and then everyone is happy. 😉

They do come up secondhand (brand new). i have just got a set for £130 which i thought was reasonable? I have had two years out of mine and to be honest i could run them a little longer

Chucky (aka Vortex Racing) are you riding down from Coppull? Or driving?

why bother taking the risk? For either an extra 10 minutes putting it on or £10-15 for a new helmet? i'm not sure i understand the question? seem obvious to me? 🙄

reckon i might come along to this if its ok? 8)

they do ride very different (coil and air). It took me quite a while to get my coil ones set up so that they didn't dive heavily and wallow. but once i played with the damping they are a lot smoother and handle repeated hits way better. I was willing to except the trade off for the performance.

My two step failed all together , but luckily was stuck at 160mm. I had the coil unit fitted as Fisher's didn't have any 2step parts. I have to say that they do work better, but, they do wallow about a bit when compared to the 2step internals. Its a trade off I guess. I've got mine set up nice now 😆

It sounds like the 2 step has failed. Not an uncommon thing although i don't know if it was so much of an issue with the '09 versions. I had the same issue with mine and since had the coil unit put it.

Contact fishers who will sort it out. Problem is you will be without your bike for a bit 🙁

I've been a couple of times now, the first time i went with a dh bike so took all the kit, last year i went and did similar riding but with a group of XC riders but just took my normal lid. Didn't ever feel that i needed the full face but having already put 30 stiches in my face from a face plant i've always got the idea in the back of my mind.

Keep balancing it with the 'accidents can happen at any time' rationalisation

I've done both the double night laps and single and i have to say the double worked best. Last year when we did singles i didn't get any sleep and i suffered badly for it.

Definately take a helper too, in the mix up last year with the lack of time too, i only ate energy bars pretty much, which not only ruined my digestive system *cough* but left me feeling tired also.

All of this depends on the condidtion though, if its relitively dry, it will be enjoyable (relitively) 😉 but if its wet it can be hell.

Bottom line is just try to finish, thats what we do and we have a great time every year. This year we've got a few mates coming down to camp and watch too, treat it like it is in that its a time to enjoy your riding and spend some time with mates i/you/we don;t spend that much time with.

I like the event alot, just hope the weather holds off 😯

I think the sentance is a p**s take. Cyclist,Major or not, she showed through either incompetence or ignorance a lack of attention while driving that cost someone there life, and a lifetime of hurt for their family and loved ones.

To get, ultimately, 12 months and a 2 year driving ban for it astounds me 🙄
