just run it till it wears out. The key however is looking after the drivetrain. i've just had two and a half years out of mine, i'm happy with that.

There are loads of trails around, this year we found loads on the avoriaz lift side and i mean loads. I think its just that i've been there quite a few times.

I wouldn't say its a trail centre but i totally agree with what the OP said, It was border line that we go back this year but i gave in to peer pressure and we went to Morzine again (3rd time to region in total). I have to say that i was borderline bored at times, Plus i think for some of our group the pressure of riding on trails that were occupied by downhillers going at warp speed fully 'body armoured up' was too much. Nothing against the downhiller's ( i was one of them once) but its always going to be difficult having a broad spectrum of riders occupying the same trail. This seems to be compounding the braking bump issue as even the blue routes are getting more frequently used by downhillers due the braking bumps getting that bad at times.

This all sounds negative but i've had some really good times in Morzine and Les Gets, its just time for a change.

Next year its either joyriders or the White Rooms for sure. I want quiet natural singletrack. Thats for me 😆

i'm doing what your thinking about, i'm going from a 165mm ransom to a 140mm blur. Its not that i've been overbiked per say, its just i'm after something lighter. To be honest i think i'll be able to keep up with my mates on that too dh 😉

i had one and loved it, but like someone says above anything over 15-20 miles and my back was knackered, not an all day bike for me, if thats your bag i'd look at the handjob.

it is a lot but if you can afford it and (in my opinion) you use it a lot then its worth it. My Mtb gets used pretty much twice a week 52 weeks of the year, and after all, its only paper 😉

I am also of the persuation that i want the shock to match the forks 😉

My joplin in on the 3 so theres not as much drop, plus i'm 5ft 11ish so i think it should be perfect. Might need a shorter stem though as mine is a 90mm, might drop down to a 70mm

To be fair thats what stiff have said, and being a geek i checked the geometry and my medium Ransom seems to be the same reach etc.

Yeah looking at the version with that new travel adjust? drops it down to 120mm i think a bit like the old 2-step (although more relaiable i hope!).

Well i think that has reassured me on my fork choice 8)

Looking forward to riding something lighter and a bit more efficent, however i'm not looking forward to flack i'll get for having fewer excuses from not being faster 😉

So do we reckon that 150mm Revalations will be alright or shall i just stick my Lyrics off my Ransom on? I have to say that one eye was on getting a lighter bike and my Lyrics are the coil version (so not light).

I'm also looking at the nomad carbon, but i just don't think i need that much travel anymore (Ransom was 160mm).

Spudster 1 thats just what i was after. I was actually thinking of putting 150mm revelations on mine. Have you had any issues with the bearings? how did you find out the frame issue? did you discover it?

sounds good to me, less to carry and all that! means i can give the bike a wash down before i have a shower too.

I know carbon may not be worth it to some people but i like they way they ride. I've been riding a carbon ransom for 2 1/2 years. I'm test riding one a stiff on the 28th with the nomad carbon so we'll see.

Remind me never to go to a bike shop with you dave! 😉

sweet as dave, sweet as. That's an incredible weight as well. Leaves less room for excuses 😉 ha ha.

What width are your bars now?

Interesting you've put the bash on, was thinking on my new one that I might go back to three and take the chain device and bash off.

Looking forward to tomorrow, hope the weather holds!

I ride my road bike 3-4 days a week to work but every time I'm on the road bike I look forward to riding my mtb. Riding a bike to work is the best alternative in every way, but it will never compare to the fun of riding singletrack (in any weather!).

I can see the reason that people ride other bikes, but to me nothing compares to riding my mtb with my mates.
