I’ve had a dry II and a wildgripper’r on for the last few months and for trail centres they were superb! However (and as to be effected) on wet mud they were useless. I really like the look of the wildrock’rs but with all this snow melt and now deep sloppy mud I’ve gone to swampthings. Will definately give them a look in the spring. Beware though, they come up big!

air forks are the best for general riding, they’re a lot lighter and efficent, but for suspension action nothing can be a pair of coil forks. I have revelations and lyrics, the revelations are fanctastic but the lyrics are amazing when you point the bike down. Now some of it will be down to the bigger legs but they seem considerably more active.

Yes please Dave-O! I’ve ordered some loctite 243. Its just a case of taking the pivot bolts out and loctiting (is this a word?) them. Shouldn’t be a long job.

I really like the look of that trip though. Would certainly like to go with you guys too, would you consider a summer trip though?

Just a quicke question (sorry if this is obvious), do people replace the front and rear (mines front wheel drive)?

Christmas for me is all about seeing my family that i/we struggle to see throughout the year, its the one time of year where we all make a considerable effort to see each other. There’s limits of course but it takes a lot for any of us not to make it.

Thats a cracking pic of Tom trashing his forks ha ha maybe he should have landed a little rear wheel first……. :)

And as for the last pic there’s no need for that :)

75 commuter miles, then we had 10 inches of snow which f**ked my weekend. Almost no chance of riding to work this week either, just göt to try and get out on the mtb……. :(

I really enjoy it. The aftercare bit is all part of it for me. I hate riding with a dirty bike. If i go away for the weekend i take cleaning stuff with me :) ok maybe i have OCD ha ha

Yes to be honest, when companies sponsor events, i try and support that brand. Not so much for an individual Ie the steve peat example, but if its borderline then it may swing the decision.

One of the compaies had a 1m wide bar on display at one of the bike shows this year. It was for display, rather than a production model, but loads of folk wanted to buy one apparently.

Why? I have a RaceFace SIXC and that’s more than wide enough.

I wouldn’t have the confidence to ride that i’m afraid. Whether it was cheap or not, i’d send that back.

HV? It’s a 2011 boost valve RP23. Having said that I’ve just fiddled around with mine and it Looks like the bottom shock bush has play, after 2 months!!!!! This can’t be normal? A dozen rides and now the shock bushing’s need replacing?!

    neil853

right, having let a bit of air out of the shock and ‘fiddled’ with it, it Looks like it is the shock bushing’s. Is this the norm that these things only last a couple of months???? I’ve riden it less than a dozen times, this can’t be right………

i have the same issue with my 2011 blur ltc, but the play doesn’t seem to be coming from the bushings but the shock itself……

There’s been loads of threads on this (not having a go, i did the same). But to answer your querstion i’m pretty sure its the granny which is the odd one out. Have a quick search on the forumn though and you should get a definitive answer

what topgunsteve says is a good idea, get an on one and ride it for 12-18 months seeing how you get on. I’ve ridden quite a bit round that area and a hardtail is probably the best bet, yes i know its nice to have 100-120mm travel but as a newbie thats what i would do. As for the weight thing i’m 15 1/2 stone and i’ve never considered my weight with buying kit, more depends how you ride etc.

On one, pair of rockshox pike’s on the front and away you go!

i have an octane 24+ that I’ve had for a couple of years, very happy with it. But I’m seriously considering getting a wingnut from spokescycles!

My Octavia 1.9 TDI easily hits 50mpg on the motorway, take it easy and keep it to 70 and you hit 55mpg without much of a problem. Practicle mtb car too.

Summer wax lube (muc off stuff) and lots of it. When i get back i thoroughly clean the bike and drive train, then dry off. I apply the wax lube and leave over night. The next day i apply a second good coating. The wax lube sticks well enough during muddy rides (although i do take a bottle out with me on longer rides) and cleans really well.

(i am a bit of a bike clean freak mind )

its more a sidewall issue now, the eternal weight over longevity battle!

    neil853

Its confusing reading peoples reviews of these tyres, some say the sidewalls are fine tubeless and others say that they are not. Maybe i should look at some tubeless specific tyres…….

Trout i too have one of those mates, he’s managed ONE nightride so far this year. Luckily i have met a few lads off here that ride!

Went out last night around Rivington in -6, most of it was sheet ice but god damn it it was fun. A slippery 12 miles
