I was told that anything over about 10 miles a road bike would be quicker and easier. I do a 12.5 mile commute on my cx bike that takes me about 45 minutes, wouldn’t fancy the same trip on a mtb.

I’ve been running swampthings (2.35 40/60a combo) for about 3 months and have been very impressed. Not the quickest tyre but grip is superb.

sounds reasonable, also a point of contact or maybe a ‘tuning’ plan built in too?

Look people this was just a question to gain some information on shock DU bushes and they’re longevity, which i’ve got, all the rest is not needed.

Thanks guys, i’m going to get it back to Stif for them to check the alignment and fit some new bushinmgs under warranty. If/when these wear out i’ll try some of the neavier duty ones.

Appreciate the advice guys thank you.

Yes I got an ltc in October last year. Did look at the nomad but just couldn’t justify the extra travel for the riding I do. To be honest though now I’m used to the bike I’m no slower.

The nomad is a truly awesome bike, but for most riding the blur is as good or better.

It hasn’t been flawless though, it seems to be eating lower bushings, and it stands to reason that with grease ports you need to pay that some attention.

bottom line though I’m pleased I got the bike I got :)

Are tf tuned the only people that do these heave duty kits?

I’m taking it back for a set to fitted under warranty once more so we’ll see what happens after that.

Interesting……. Although they are easy to change on mine i don’t want to be changing them every 6-8 weeks! I’m going back to Stif for the alignment to be checked Saturday

Its on Blur LTc, the shop have said that it may be an alignment issue although i hope not as the bike is only 4 months old.

Whats the cost of a heavy duty kit?

and no the bush kit wasn’t changed, but then again shouild it have to be after only 2 months?

Classic case of stw people going a bit Ott. Its an odd looking bike yes but its not ugly! Its obviously his pride and joy and fair to him. :D

How do people wash/care for VR tops?

    neil853

Mines a smock version and seem to fit perfectly? Agree with try before buying though, the stretch top i got is a different cut to the Baltero Guide jacket i have (smaller).

I have one (stretch VR) that i use for a bit of commuting (dry so far) but i haven’t had the nerve to use one off road yet. Not sure how well they’d wash or how you’re supposed to look after them?

Its a place i’ve been riding for nearly 20 years. Local knowledge hels a lot as there’s loads of cheeky bits that are fantastic. If you’re going on your own the black is very good but short so i’f try to get someone on her to show you around (i’m in the NW now).

Oh and its almost ALWAYS muddy (really muddy)

It’s also had some re-surfacing work done so it isn’t as bad as it has been

I like my blur ltc, pedals really well and feel like a little dh bike when you get seat down and head downhill
