it was a custom shock tune, £30. Now i’m sorry that’s a bargain, plus i’ve had excellent advice and feedback on set up. Which has been incredibly useful.

Looks awesome kid, new silver wheels suit it. You going to put a dropper seatpost on it? What’s it weigh now?

I have a 2006 L&K 1.9TDI, had it about 2 years now. Such a comfortable car to drive we drove down to Morzine in it this year and it was perfect for it. Over 50mpg all the time and with the bikes on the roof it still does over 40. The L&K trim makes it a little different.

Having said all this i’m thinking of getting a newer VRS diesel, but i’m waiting till my job is a little more secure

I think the point about John Tomac is that he excelled in all three disciplines

    neil853

Tomac +1 there will never be another rider like him.

Cedric Gracia is another talented ‘all round’ rider, Greg Minnar is another. I think in the UK Chris Askrigg would be up ther too.

John Tomac even sent me a signed poster upon request! Its framed and in my shed, one of my most prized possession’s :)

I don’t mind admitting when a trail is challenging, but this one in one place is more than that and that’s something that can’t be said for any another trail I’ve ridden in the UK. I’d like to see how some people have said they’ve cleaned that run do it………

I’m sorry but I’m with Pete on this, you’d have to be a truly outstanding rider to clear that path

It got out on the afternoon in Preston and i got out on the wednesday nightride, Its always the case that getting out the door is hardest sometimes. We had a cracking ride with quite a bit of climbing and (relatively) little mud

Still glad i had my swampthings on though

No i didn’t, are they in stock now? I got some cheap Fat Alberts from On One but i’m still interested in the new MKII 2.2/2.4 tyres……

Alsations (sic) are a breed that are know to protect their owners. Perhaps it felt threatened by you?

and this gives the dog the right to bite him?

Absolutely should be reported. As someone has said you could have been walking with a child or anyone else for that matter and they may have been injured. Dog needs a muzzle at the very least!

I don’t have dates per say but i’m going away for the easter weekend and i intend on fitting my ‘summer’ tyres then. I’m mostly riding trail centres anyway though.

I’ve been running swampthings for the last few months and although the grip is superb the rolling resistance is incredible, i can’t even remember what momentum is lol

The wet weather has been the reason for me being soft this winter on the mtb, i’ve just chosen to ride my cx bike instead, hardly done any nightriding. Out tonight though (although i’m trying to think of reasons to get out of it  )

I got some intense dh tyres last year and the year before, picked them up for about £30 the pair! If I was doing it again though it would probably be minions front and rear if I was going agressive, or something like a 2.4 nobby nic/fat Albert if I was going a bit more xc oriented. Snakeskin versions though!

for me it would be a black frame with 120mm white maxxle rebas

Revelation XX WC, XTR 9 speed, Hope ProII on 819’s, swampthings (a source of some of the weight but it is winter), Joplin III, RaceFace SIXC bars, in fact look below

There are some people on here which aren’t truely honest about weights on here. Mine was weighed as above only with the swampthings on, maybe take a pound off with summer tyres but that still 28-29lbs. Which to be honest i’m happy with, as i’m sure is the OP.

12.5 miles each way, which i do three/four days a week. Any more than that and it ruins my mountain biking

30lbs with a carbon frame, XTR and RS Rev?

Are you sure your scales are working right? I’d have thought it’d be more like 27lbs, maybe less

I have a Blur LTc with very similar kit thats the same weight, these bikes are built to take a bit of abuse and be incredibly stiff. There are lighter versions if it s light bike you want

and yet i’ve had my mt500’s for three or four months and they’ve been fine, shows the hit and miss nature of endura stuff right now  I’ve got two pairs and both have been fine

We rode up (most) of the llanberis and down the rangers, that trail is amazing, not come across anything like that in the UK before, similar stuff in the lakes and peaks but no where near as extreme/severe

You’ll be able to use the 591 on there which is the frame clamp one. I really like mine, had them nearly three years covering literally thousands of miles. My favourite system. I actually have two 591’s and one 590 (axle mounted). Just means I can take a bike that may have a dodgy shaped frame like my old Ransom.

Roof box co did an excellent deal on mine

That’s the hardest decent I’ve ever done, been cycling quite a long time and trails very rarely beat me but I walked a section of that :( next time though! Its an amazing decent! Not for beginners though!!

Boro not that bad, but then i’m from up the road. Typical student nightlife whicj IHO is good.

Some really good riding nearby and there a good esablished club there now called Guisborough MTB which could show you some routes. Also worth checking out Westbrook cycles in Stokesly (excellent shop that still still gets some of my trade even though i like in Lancs now!).

Places to live though i’d look at Guisborough, Great Ayton, Stokesley, Marton, Nunthorpe or even Ingleby Baaaaaaaaaaaaawick (thats how its pronounced

If you’re there for that long surely worth looking at a short term let?

Yeah i’m tubeless already and the CO2 pack is in! Also taking warm clothes and the usual high level kit.

Think WE’re going up the Llanberis(?) then down the Rangers path, good then is it? I’m looking forward to it!

Its a far more technical trail, i like it alot but i took a couple of mates there last year and i think they found it a bit tough (not as enjoyable). The descent is amazing though
