probably my first mtb, a Raleigh Apex, 400LX, Girvin Flex-stem. In my eyes that was perfect (until i got a paper round and kitted it out with full ’93 XT)

It will always be mtb for me, riding the road bike is the best alternitive to get to work, but the road bike to me is a way to get fitter for my mtb riding.

Nothing compares (for me) to riding/rattling down twisty dry, dusty singletrack with the sound of your mates behind you 8)

Njee20 that’s a nice looking bike. Do you ever have issues with the chain dropping?

To be fair one of the lads working at stif has a blur xc carbon that weighs 20.4 lbs so its more than possible. Check out litebike.com if you want to see some REALLY light bikes.

It was a fantastic ride that, compounded by the spectacular views and fantastic weather. One of the more physically challenging rides I’ve done for sure :)

Will certainly be exploring that area much more. Cheers for showing us round Dave!

My point was that if you DIDN’T miss work and it DIDN’T stop you going about your normal routine.

If people get injured to such an extent that it hinders or haults everyday life and indeed inpacts on their ability to go to work fair enough

The £2k is ‘don’t bother us again’ money.

If you bank the money and then your leg falls off next week and you try and claim it was a result of the accident they’ll point out that this paymen tis in ‘full and final’ settlement and you can whistle.

probably cheaper (for everyone) for them to offer £2k than have to start getting solicitors involved unless they have to.

Thats exactlty the reason, but if there’s no further health issues its not cheaper………

Like i said Si, nothing against you, its the system/current culture we’re in.

My point is this money has to come from somewhere, it’s not free. The system is knackered and needs revising. If people get injured to such an extent that it hinders or haults everyday life and indeed inpacts on their ability to go to work fair enough. But this is becoming all too common that people are just being given compensation without due consideration.

I’m in no way having a go at you Simon, its just that this is the reason my insurance is not going down even though i’ve got a clean licence and no claims!

Look on the Basque MTB website, there’s an excellent bit of information on there with links. It was somewhere i was considering for this summers holiday (by train hopefully)

Don’t do ferry its a PITA, use the eurostar/tunnel its far quicker and worth the extra money.

I look at this every year and to be honest i’d love to just get on a train, have a beer and rela all the way to the alps. But the reallity is that its expensive (compared to driving) and is far from hassel free.

Every year we drive to the Alps and to be honest i quite enjoy the drive, all part of the holiday.

I just don’t like those rims, and it needs more gears :)

And to be honest, it just doesn’t do anything for me. I would prefer a niner personally

A fantastic tyre that actually surprised me as to how good it was on a number of different surfaces. They are a little slow but nothing a bit of extra fitness doesn’t cure ;)

that would be awesome Davey! What i mean is that when you take the big ring off whats protecting the lower pivot? Does the skid plate of the guide?

    neil853

Does the chain device protect the lower pivot enough then?

I’ve got a boardman cx that i use for my 12 mile (each way) commute. I too can’t manage 5 days becuase it knackers night riding and weekend riding. Handy to have there though when the myb is ‘off the road’ as you can keep riding and keep the fitness up by supplementing it with commuting miles.

Nice bike by the way, think i prefer that to my boardman
