I seem to recall seeing a price of £4k, its exactly the same as the one the Olympic team are using.

they do make a marked difference to brake performance, but i echo what others have said they do increase pad wear. Merlin have some nice DT’s in too

Yeah that’s the one. Looks really tempting due to fitting issues. Hmm but it seems they’re not without fault…..

MRP does as far as i know, DBW has one fitted to his 4X, should be the same fitting. Its the lower pivot that’ll be the issue.

The MBR route of grizedale is good and pretty easy to follow

There are some beautiful touches on that and yet i still don’t that value in it.

I have dropped the chain a few times, not right off but down to the granny. Annoying though. I like the simplicity of running 1×9 and with the right chain guide you can also save some weight.

I’m also not mega fit but a winter of commuting has left me fitter than last year. Whatever happens i’ll keep the rings, mech and shifter aside.

The dilema is do I go for the MRP lopes SL which is the lightest and I know will fit but cost £100. The other option is to take a risk and get a superstar for a third of the cost but I’m not sure will fit right…..

my ‘main’ bike every three years, my commuter every 18 months or so.

I love living in the North West, been here for nearly three years now after living in the South East (Surrey) for 4 years and being from the North East. The North West (IMO) has the most variety of riding and yet you still have the big city lights of Manchester (20 mins from me) If you want it.

Having North Wales/Peaks/Lakes/Dales all within 1:30 mins is awesome, what more could you want? :)

DaveyBoyWonder any chance of seeing your MRP and how its set up? Tried a stinger last night but it really doesn’t look like its going to work that well, looks like it’ll have to be one of these i reckon.

To get up we took 1.5-2 hours i think, and to get down (stopping two or three times) around 30-45 mins? If you believe some people on here it takes about 10 minutes to get down on a 120mm hardtail

I think if Klein could have kept going a bit longer they could’ve thrived in the modern day market  looking at how nice there stuff looked, even in the Trek days.

I’d go with a Zaskar like, especially with all those purple bits on, looks amazing. I was lucky (well depends which way you look at it) to own an STS Lobo and it was definately a love hate relationship. When it work and didn’t squeak like crazy it was awesome, but when it squeaked, as in whenever it got wet (!) it was hell.

thats does look nice like, even prefer the colours to my LTc, but i like the luxury of that extra bit of travel, 140mm is the sweet spot for me :)

Probably something from fat chance or Ibis, they so far out of my reach when I was 13/14, I could only dream :)

You get what you pay for

    This isn’t always true…….

For the record i’ve had superstar pads for over three years and never had this issue.

yeah i would say the same, around £1200-£1300 a month for the two of us (but we own our car luckily) inc all bills, fuel and food.

for the area (same as me) swampthings for the winter and either High Rollers/Ardents/Advantage for the summer, the latter for the rear.

Its always difficult to give advice on stuff like this and to be honest i never do, but, it doesn’t sound like you’ve got a ‘fair’ deal out of this. I pay for all the house stuff which like you is in and around a grand a month, but the mrs then pays for the fuel in the car and food, whatever is left over we spend on whatever we chose (although i do run most things past her as she’s very sensible/rational and i’m not lol).

Now obviously this isn’t equal but we’re both happy with it and importantly we both have enough to spend, doesn’t sound like thats the case in your marriage………

Honestly, the complete bike package is the best value. No way you could build them up for that price.
