    150mm Revs on mine (LTc)

I ran swampthings front and rear right up until May this year (ST front and 60a rear). I thought they were excellent as all rounders and no where near as slow as I thought they were going to be. Single ply ones are good value too.

I like the look of Mud-x’s but as someone has said they are a bit thin, fine for mud but if you take a trip to rocky’er places (peaks/lakes) then you’ll have to keep the pressure up otherwise rims will get dinged.

I’m having a similar dilema in what bike to use, I have a Boardman CX bike but to be honest my Blur LTc with mud tyres was OK last year. having only riden my CX bike off road a few times (bought as a commuter) I’m still not really used to its off road handling……..

You’re right. Its f*cking tight. I really grates my balls when people do this.

Park at Dalby, pay your £7 and ride straight onto the trails.

Alternatively, park somewhere in the sticks and I hope your car has gone when you get back

Couldn’t have put it better myself

ChunkyMTB that’s one of the few Turner’s I like the look of, very nice that.

Tears in my eyes at work here. I echo the comments above in really not knowing what to say. All i’ll add is that I wish you all the very best of luck with beating the cancer, and in truth i’ve never meant anything more.

I reckon if you keep the attitude you have there, you’ll have the best chance possible of beating it.

    All my best

I’s get it back to a dealer, the bearings are pre-loaded but for the sake of a short trip to a shop (and the bearings have a lifetime warranty) its not worth it.

Bit more than £100 but I have a Rab Baltero Guide, really nice jacket. Pretty much waterproof (i’ve never been wet) and incredibly breathable. Feels really hard wearing too.

(however I am a massive rab fan so maybe a bit of a biased view ;) )

Mine is genuinely dull now, constant threat of redundancy and even apart from that I look around the room at the people who’ve been here 20 years and the pale skin and vacant looks makes me wonder if that’ll be me. My parents always said they were amazed I’d ended up in an office and questioned whether it was’me’, maybe they were right. Although the money isn’t bad the work/life balance just isn’t there.

It’s time for a career change.

    Very interesting…..

NO, I don’t. But although there’s the threat of it I don’t think i’m getting the work/life balance right. I woke up and clapped my hands that I was going to work before, haven’t done that for a very long time.

ah, probably just a bad day in the office :)

Agreed, but the LUST tyres i’ve used (and that are on at the minute) still seem to have more robust sidewalls. Totally agree its a trade of with weight vs longevity but isn’t it always ;)

I think someone said above that race day would be something like a RR and the rest would (IMO) be something UST. This is all just my opinion of course. :)

Just to add my 2p worth….

I’ve ran both tubeless and non tubeless tyres, both, as others have said can be ran tubeless. The difference for me is longevity. Tubeless tyres (especially when ran at low pressures) generally have stronger sidewalls and therefore last longer.

IME they are also A LOT easier to inflate

As far as I can remember they were tange prestige (definately tange but may not have been prestige)

I used to sell them when I worked in a shop in South West London, we were one of the few shops of the group that sold lots of steel ones. Good bikes, in fact that was a good year for SBC. Man, I miss working in cycle shops :(

Tried a decent pair of overshoes? Transformed my winter commuting. Can’t comment on the sizing though as I have midget feet (compared to you) but I thought my MT500 overshoes were great

(I do have MW80’s however which I also think are fantastic)

Bike Bus service sounds fantastic, I’ll definately be using it. I have a few friends spread out throughout the UK, we generally all drive in different cars as we live in different places but this might mean we could actually use the train! I’m going to try and email the chap to see if we can adjust the pick up times slightly.

Brilliant idea though, really hope it takes off

I would seriously look at a Canyon, if I was buying a new bike I don’t think you can look past them for value, It would be close to the top of my list

IMO 6 weeks is unacceptable to wait, surely fishers can do something in that time, loan set or whatever?

unbelieveable mtb ride last night, the trails were perfect, the weather was perfect. In fact the night was so good instead of catching the train home I chose to just ride the 13 miles home on the road!

I’m not going to but I could have quite happily signed off for the year with that ride last night, that’s what its all about!

I’ve recently gone 1×9 and I have to say I love the simplicity of it. Now to be honest i’ve been doing quite a lot of running recently and it seems as if my leg strength has increased becuase of it, this will have undoubtably helped with my switch to a single ring.

The security of a decent single ring chain device is also very comforting. My bike seemed to suffer with dropping the chain with a triple and it just seemed pointless carrying around the shifter, cable and front mech when i just wasn’t using it with a double.

Where you ride will have a massive bias as to what you ride. I ride a mixture of trail centres and natural stuff. Trail centres are a piece of pi$$ with 1×9, but natural stuff takes a bit more effort. I’m out to the peaks on Sunday so that should be interesting…..

I’m going to keep my double stuff though, not sure whether mountain mayhem will be a good idea for me with 1×9…..

to be honest i just use single ply swampthings (on 819’s) but it gets quite muddy where I am. Work well with tubeless once you get them inflated……

I didn’t ‘hate’ it but I had one of the early Cove Stiffee’s with the easton RAD tubing, it was sooooooo rigid that after 10-15 miles it gave me chronic back ache. So I just didn’t enjoy riding it except for short mid week night rides, saying that for that it was fantastic :)

There are many more bikes I regret selling than buying :(

Speaking to the conti rep he was saying sizing was very similar to the old mk’s and not the rubber queens. Hope that helps

Can’t speak for the straightline but I run an mrp g2 mini, works perfectly with a 1.5mm spacer behind the chain device. Pretty much silent and zero rub. No modification either :)

Many years ago (and a few stone heavier) I went out on one of their ‘social’ rides, and although they waited for me as soon as I caught up they’d set off, spoke about 3 words to me all day. Disn’t go out again with them. I went out with other shops at the time on ‘social’ rides and managed fine theirs was considerably quicker.

Loco, where did you work with Rowan at? I too used to work with Rowan in a former life…..

I’ve done both, short and long periods. They were especially useful for the end of the week when i was commuting to work. I had them on from 8am-4pm in that case. I’ve also had them on over night when i’ve done multi day rides.

But the most useful is when you’ve done a long ride and put them on for the car journey home, normally i would get out and barely be able to walk, compression tights helped massively with this.

hmm i’ve just got one to go in my revelations, wonder if it will fit
