Mine is a couple of years old, I bought it directly through the Halfords website.

I’m big fan of Stif, good staff, no pressure to buy, good coffee and lots of nice things to look at. Having them attached to the SC importer also helps ;)

I bought a cx pro about 2 1/2 years ago. I commuted on it for about 18-20 months racking up nearly 4000 miles, since then I’ve used it for more recreational stuff as I’ve moved closer to work. It’s been quite amazing actually, barely had any money spent on it from day one. I must be honest while I was commuting on it it was barely even cleaned and yet its still going pretty much perfectly.

It’s only been recently though that I’ve used it for more recreational stuff. There’s an old railway line/walkway near my parents, stretches for about 15 miles in either direction which it’s perfect for. I’m really pleased with mine. Haven’t had any warranty issues, to be honest if I did i’d just have to deal with the ‘Halfords aspect’ but I wouldn’t think they’d be any worse than some independants i’ve dealt with in the past.

Gee past his best? Listen I’m not a massive Gee Atherton fan but you must be taking the p$as? Last season Gwinn dominated no doubt but the season before gee had to match it with one of the most consistent riders if all time in Greg minnar. He has (by his own standards no doubt also) a season off the boil and suddenly he’s pasts his best?

I’m running a 2.4 advantage at the minute, that’s massive and seems to work ok so far, although struggled on some off camber stuff on Sunday. I normally run swampthings though.

Mine is 1×9 xtr, revelation wc xx, RF sixc bars, Joplin post etc. I run tubeless tyres which aren’t light but give genuine tubeless advantages such as being able to run at low pressures without killing sidewalls.

Its not meant to be a feather weight, but its just incredibly stiff. And also, it just looks lovely and not like an A-level engineering project ;)

Don’t really see/feel the issue regarding the head angle its about spot on for me.

I’ve had one for about 14 months now. I have to say i really like it, climbs really well, decends unbelievably well and is just generally a well behaved bike. Agree with the comment about the cables, if they were internal it would be so much neater. I have to add though i didn’t get on with the shock initially, just seemed to wallow in the middle of the travel and was hard work climbing. I spoke to mojo who said the compression settings from SC were incredibly light. For £35 they re-valved the shock and its completely different, well worth doing.

Agree with the comments with the weights though. You can get them down to very low weights but there’s comprises. Mine weighs 29lbs with some pretty light kit, only things really would be lighter wheels (I’ve got proII’s on 819’s) and brakes (I’m running 4pot Saints). Having said all that i don’t feel its heavy. Test ride one, I did and it made my mind up.

I’ve sacked off riding rhough being lazy/no where to wash bike/too windy, but I’ve been running three times this week and got soaked every time, so i’m even sick of that now :(

Got a good ride planned for Sunday with vortexracing around Rivi and ‘apparently’ the wind is meant to lessen

I can tell you know, even though I don’t live in the NE anymore, it will be wet, it’s always wet everytime of the year.

Don’t know why GW is taking exception to some comments on here, they make sense. When I’m out in France I get progressively quicker while i’m out there and my confidence grows as i’m riding much more often, by the end of the week I try things that I wouldn’t otherwise try at home. This is pretty much the reason why you see chalet lads (and lasses) in plaster as they too get confidence quicker than their skill levels can cope with.

Now i’m not sure what any of this has to do with bike choice as I think we’re getting off topic.

I stand by what I’ve said before. To make the most (IMO) of the time you’re out there the bike you’ve got with some small mods (such as tyres, bigger rotors, shorter stem etc) would be perfect. If you intend to shuttle the Plenney, then yes it’s still possible but you won’t be enjoying it after a couple of days.

I think that’s more likely it, the trails where the lads ride during the week (mostly) is Rivington, the trails are extremely muddy. If I was nearer to Llandegla (don’t start please on slagging it off, I think its a decent enough place) thien I think I would be enticed to ride more during the week/dark. Or maybe i’m just kidding to myself and i’m talking bollox ha ha

Why jeopardise the lightest race brake available with all it’s stopping power etc by using after-market pads??? Would you put remoulds on a Porsche? Just wondering not trying to be antagonistic

    Has to be a troll????

I will definitley be doing one or two events this year. I’d certainly be interested to see if they’re going to put one at Hamsterly, bit of local knowledge for that one :)

Does anyone know when entry is going to be available?

they’re right, renting is massively expensive. Fine for a day but would certainly be cheaper to buy before you got hen sell on when you get back.

Everytime i’ve been (5) baring once I’ve been on a 140mm-160mm bike. The first time I went on a DH bike, which was good but in all honesty I preferred the times i’ve been on the shorter travel bikes. Depends what you’re doing. Last time I was there we rode all the dh stuff but was able to access so much more because we were on lighter much more efficent bikes.

For the record i’ve got a Blur LTc and thats what I’ll be taking this summer.

there is no answer to this question. Whatever anyone says there is a counter arguement.

For the record I have carbon forks, handlebar and frame. I have complete confidence in it as a material. The critical difference is in how it’s made and to what price.

I have a Boardman CX pro for a couple of years now. Easily one of the best bikes i’ve ever owned. I cycled to work and back with it for 18-24 months clocking up nearly 4500 miles, then after a bit of tlc i’ve been using it for disused railway lines and walkways. It realy is incredibly versitile. haven’t had many issues. The rear wheel is a bit sh$t and comes loose sometimes, but its pretty shot now so the wheels are going to be replaced with some on one or superstar versions.

For the record i originally wanted the CDF but the delivery date was too far away, but I’ve been more than pleased with the Boardman.

I was the same, I just swap it over between my mtb and my cx bike, stores rides and then I download them, I only keep 2-3 rides on there at any one time so can’t comment on any more. Haven’t had an signal issues so far. To me it’s the perfect computer.

I’ve actually gone the other way in that I used to have an old 300 but found it way to complicated. I got the 200 as I just wanted the features I was using but without the stupidly low battery life. I’m very pleased with mine I have to say.

For me (and this is all personal opinion) but right now Maxxis ADvantage 2.25’s front and rear (2.4″ front if like me you like larger tyres) and in summer same front tyre and either a Maxxis Ardent 2.25 or Crossmark on the back. Same front tyre all year round and just change the back.

    Job done :)

My endura are cack, second pair i’ve had as well as the first pair the lining came out and I couldn’t get it back in, replaced under warranty (like most of my endura stuff  )

I like the look of the Fox ones, they’ll probably be my next pair to try
