I for one will savour this years tour more than any other, it will always live on as the tour where an Englishman dominated the tour at the helm of a british team.

    Nothing else matters

    patriotic? me? :)

You don’t even have to cycle to work

    Wrong

The bike has to be used for a certain percentage of home to work journey’s, that’s what the scheme was for, not a cheap way of aquiring mountain bke for weekend use.

The scheme is to help people get a bike cheaply so they can ride to work. It’s not designed to enable people to buy a box of bits

This is the battle you face, price or quality face to face contact. Only you can decide that. The bike to work scheme was tweeked to help small businesses generate some income from it.

Can you build a Soul up for £1k? Is that what you’re going to ride to work on?

Oxymoron. Rapha exists BECAUSE it’s expensive. Cheap Rapha is just clothes!

    ^this

I have a few bits of Rapha stuff, every now and then I’ll treat myself to something. However I guess i’m even more poncy as I mostly by the casual stuff

I reckon the final stage to Paris will be a big thing for Sky, really drive home that they are head and shoulders above everybody this year. I’m really looking forward to watching the team sky machine leading Cav to the win.

listen, lets not take anything away from what has been a lifes ambition for a top english bloke. He and the team have had a plan and executed it perfectly. You can only race and deal with whats there at the time. He has been the best rider and they have been the best team. End of.

Damn, that could well be my next bike. That looks so nice, change of seatpost only for me, the rest would do nicely

I’m in the process of converting my M985 double (88BCD) to a single ring (1×10), the Hombrew chainrings are meant to be OK but getting them is a different issue entirely. We’re talking months here.

Goldtec/BETD are making some chainrings which ‘should’ be finsihed this week. Estimaed cost is about £40 apparently. Hoping to get mine this week

absolutely, I barely did any riding over the winter. Combination of moving form a house to a flat and just the constant never ending circle of riding then bike and kit washing.

I took up running instead, lost about two stone in the process. Have to say though, although there are times when I enjoy running, it’s never the same. In fact recently I’ve been wanting to ride my bike more and run less (bike is out of action at the minute waiting for parts). But if nothing else the running has given me a sound base fitness to help my riding. Just hoping we see some good weather so I can make the most of it!

The frame is an IS mount, the XT brakes are probably post mount so you need an IS to post mount. then utter depends what disc size you’ve got.

So what was the US case against him?

    neil853

this whole saga has to end sometime, how investigations have there been now? None of which could come to a verdict of guilty, no matter how much they WANTED to find him guilty. Even the US government with unlimited legal funds couldn’t find him guilty. Now, I’m a pro Lance supporter, but if I wasn’t then I’d be of the opinion that all these cases against him are only adding to his credibility.

Lance has already had his legacy tainted, in many peoples eyes he will never been seen as the greatest cyclist of all time (even though he is), surely for the anti Lance groups this is enough? Time to stop the witch hunt and move on FFS

some people have been incredibly kind and offered their services on Sunday to marshal at our Brownbacks event, but, we still need a few more.

Can anyone else help to marshal on sunday?

Nice, really surprised the mods let you get away with that.

Preston itself is a bit of a dump with the longest traffic light timings I’ve ever experienced. There’s one shopping street with the usual selection of crap English provincial town stores, charidee shops and fast food joints

Absolutely spot on in every way. Like all cities there are some nice bits around the outside, and the location is pot on for mtb’ing and road biking. There’s no way I would have stayed here five years if it wasn’t!

There’s also a lot of people from STW that live in and around it if you wanted to get out for rides with people (me included).

there’s been a few very kind people who have ofoffered theis as marshals already this morning but we are still in need of a few more, anyone free Sunday morning? There’s brew in it for you, can’t ask for more than that :)

All events are at lee quarry, fantastic all weather venue that lends itself well to close competitive racing for novices and pro’s alike. but none of this can happen without the generous people who chose to give up their Sunday mornings to help the racing happen, the marshals.

If anybody can lend a hand, it’d be hugely appreciated :)

mud-x 2.0 wasn’t too bad except for my ‘really’ claggy lap.

what a weekend though, struggled to enjoy it to be fair. set up we had was awesome though which made it barable, feel sorry for the people where it was their first time, i’ve done it 6/7 times now and its never been that bad, dry its a completely different event.
