I have no idea how rockshox have made any money on the reverb. I’ve had 8 in two years and both current ones on each bike have now failed. I’m sick of sending them back, I’ve just ordered a service seal pack and some of the tools to do myself. Some of the lads in my riding group do that now they just replace the seals themselves roughly twice a year. I’m sorry but the reverb as a product is shockingly bad and has to be rightup there with crank bros.

I’m tempted by the new fox transfer. I’ll see how my repair goes first though…..

I have had one set of 18 months (650b 35mm) and another set for 2years (29″ 35mm). The 29er set are on my hard and have been battered all over the uk and are still absolutely perfect. They are the Matt finish which imo is the better as it seems to hide the marks better. These have been ran tubeless, rimmed out on rocks and are still deadly true. The 650b ones are the gloss finish so look a little tatty’er even though they’re newer. These have been ran in my full sus that been to the Alps twice and done various enduros and consequently ran with the schwalbe pro core system. Now I’ve just last month had a rear failure where the wall had effectively come away along an 8″ section. Now I’m a decent sized chap and have always ran the pro core inner chamber at its maximum 80psi and I’m convinced this has had something to do with it. Anyway even though the rim was 18 months old (12 month warranty) they replaced completely FOC. Outstanding communication also. I really can’t rate lightbycle highly enough I think they represent good value (better exchange rate when I bought mine but still cheap comparatively) and the company really do want your business and seem to go that extra mile for you. They’re not a budget product by any stretch and it does make you wonder why rims like enve, industry 9 and such like are so expensive

I’ve got pro core on my 650b full sus. The jury is still out for me whether it’s worth it. I haven’t had a puncture since I’ve had it but that’s not really the reason why I got it. I’m a large ish lad, 16st or so and I’ve always had a love hate relationship with tubeless and I’ve always had problems with tyres burping. All manner of tyre/rim combinations have been tried with zero success. With pro core I never get it as the inner tyre is pressing 80 psi into the rim wall.

On tech steep stuff it’s mind blowingly good. Absolutely stunning you get soooooo much grip. Also even if it’s wet std tyres don’t clog as the tyre is deforming all the time. But, when the trail gets smoother and flatter it’s gets harder work imo. I’m still playing around with tyre pressures but so far I like it. Is it worth £150, no but if you get the chance to take a punt on a set for a reduced price like I did I’d take the chance.

Like some above I’d been riding spds for 20+ years but felt I’d give flats a go. I was conscious that flats may improve my technique a bit. The lack of efficiency is really apparent at first but in the end that’s just a placebo for me. Whenever I climb (unless I’m really on my game) there’s always something I pin it being so hard to, tyre pressure too low, seat too low etc so the flat pedal thing was just that to me. But, it’s the pedalling downhills that better too, you just get shaken about too much for on flats compared to spds, but, on the flip side I carry much more speed on flats on tech stuff and I’m more confident about getting a foot out. I did a few enduros last year, crashed twice heavily with the front wheel washing out and I cracked ribs hitting terra firma (I’m not a small lad), I’ll never know but flats would at least have given me the opportunity to get a foot down easier. The main gain for me personally though is cornering, you can postion your foot on different areas of a flat pedal that has a profound effect on grip. This is all completely subjective however….

Mine feels like it ramps up type of thing. Bounce up and down and it feels fine with no noise but feels like there’s a step at 15-20% mark. See how it goes

    Ah mine doesn’t have that

What does this knocking feel like? Mine is brand new done about 30-40 miles and had a kind of ‘step’ after about 15% of the travel. There’s no noise or anything though

Can only call it how I see it. And two of my riding mates have had exactly the same experience with marcin and one other.

Absolutely terrible product and worse customer service. Bought a cassette extender, the one that was the top half of the block and its slipped after 15 miles. Emailed and was basically told it was my fault and came up with a list of ways I must have damaged it. Genuinely not interested. Mate of mine had the exact same thing with the single cassette extender and was again told they weren’t interested. You come across companies like this from time to time and you’ve got to learn from it and move on. Definitely struck of the list for me

I bought an 03 t4 in September, converting from a panel van to a day van. The best thing I’ve ever bought bar none. Love it. I went for the 2.5 88hp but ideally I’d have like the 102hp it’s just I couldn’t find one that I liked basically. On the five cyclinder ones make sure they don’t smoke (white) on start up as that can be injectors and not cheap. Also, if getting 2.5 make sure it’s had the timing belt and water pump done as that’s pretty much the only thing that’ll kill one.

A case of stripping down the wheels and reusing the rims then. Well, keep the front

I’m looking at a new full sus now, the last one I had was total dog poo so my views have been tainted a bit. When I’ve gone into some shops and asked for a test ride I’ve been looked at like I’m stupid. One shop said yeah no problem, that’ll be April…….

Poor stuff made badly. So many items I hoped would be good have failed. Unwanted I like them, genuinely but they just don’t last.

I really fancy one of their 29er codeine, but I contacted them just asking them some basic questions and they were unbelievably unhelpful. I like their shops but I’m genuinely not sure about buying something like a frame from them

I got one as a punt, bought the frame second hand and built from bits I already had, I’d never really ridden a 29er in anger before I built it.

It absolutely blew me away. It has great geometry, is a great weight and handles everything I throw at it which has included rocky lakes trips to bimbles along cycle paths between pubs. I think its absolutely brilliant, but then again I own one and I’m obviously biased. I have a couple of other bikes which I ride rarely now. Since I built it I’ve put some nicer bits on which included some nice carbon rims, these in particular were a good upgrade and feel much quicker/stiffer than the alu American Classics they replaced.

Drop me an email of you want more detail/pics

Les arcs is a bit more advanced, much steeper too. Morzine has a great lift network as well and a lot more blues and greens. The trail grading is different to here, the blues are basically reds over here.
