Problem with those great natural trails is that with they aren’t suitable for the volume of traffic we see now. So even they need looked after

The reason he hasn’t named these trails is because the builders have politely asked him not to, due to agreements and permission they have to build. These guys are really sound. They could have asked him not to film full stop. But that’s not their style.
As a direct result of said youtuber making a vid and the massive uptake in the sport. I havnt built a new trail in well over 2 years. I spend all my time just trying to keep up the maintenance. Our trails are not hidden and we welcome all users. But the level of disrespect you get from users is soul destroying at times. This includes locals and experienced riders not just visitors and those new to the sport. Closed sections and new features continually unblocked before completion, chicken lines created. Features modified. I’ve eventually given in to this and now build in chicken lines or make everything rollable.
I’ve no problem with the youtubers making content. I enjoy watching it. BUT with the massive exposure gained through social media. I think they should always attemp to contact the trail builders in new areas they visit to ensure they aren’t doing harm when posting. Some spots are delicate. Wether that be from permission issues. Or not suitable for high traffic or wet weather riding. These trails don’t just take a few days to build. Some are years of graft and that should be considered. MTB is nothing without the buiders

Welcome to mountain bike heaven. So much riding in all directions. Don’t know the stuff out forres and Elgin way so well but loads of local spots to enjoy. Not far from Inverness where you could ride forever and never get bored. Trails there are on another level. And plenty more spots further north.
    The choices are endless

Thinning and clear felling are unfortunately part of commercial forest managment. The biggest isdue i have with this is that its usually sub contracted out to firms on piece rate who will harvest without any regard for the trails. Privately owned woodland are usually felled way better. With damage to the hill minimised and much less scrub left.
Discussion with the land owner and GPS of all routes could result in minimising the forwarder damage?

I sold a bike to a French guy posted to the local shop in ft. Bill. Woujcng post until the money was in my account.
I did warn him after that he could get scammed easily in the future.

Plenty of trails to keep u entertained. Most fairly short so easy to do multiple runs to suit your needs. Only a couple I would suggest avoiding due to gaps. They are pretty much all contained within the waymarked walking loop so easy to find. Also a good old xc trail if u prefer some pedalling.

If nobody around and your unsure. Guys in fc office will keep u right.

Plenty of easier stuff for kids too.

Route to grave is all fire road but the views en route and paths around rogie falls and silver bridge make an ideal out and back for the family.

Depending on what kind of riding you want there is tons of trails in and around contin. Mostly shorter runs of varied difficulty and a longer xc route that is fairly techie in places.

There’s also a full on dh trail nearby and some other longer routes into the hills.

Happy to send you over some trail maps or directions.

    Thanks Neil

Stop at aviemore on the way up. Great days riding at high Burneside. Then head further north. You have the mast at Inverness plus the new amazing pump track,
High Burnside is nice but it really isn’t the main event in that area. Likewise, if you’re looking for the best Scotland has to offer I’d keep driving north of Inverness.

Only really torridon, skye, contin and Golspie north of Inverness

Depending on how long as trip you plan there’s a heap more you can add to this. I’d be happy to give a more detailed breakdown of any of the above

I’d go north. Stop at aviemore on the way up. Great days riding at high Burneside. Then head further north. You have the mast at Inverness plus the new amazing pump track, torridon and Golspie and Balblair all in a relatively small area. Ft William on the way home. Pretty epic trip

I’d probably do a day at Golspie and Balblair. Next day at torridon. Down the road to aviemore/High Burneside. Could always stop at contin or the mast at Inverness en route. Finish off at Laggan.

Pedalcover is well worth a call. They organise cover away from the home of a monetary value. So all your bikes, kit personal belongings are covered without having to list them. Triathlon and sportif covered within this too.
Biggest bonus of all is getting to deal with a real person again after too many years of insurance claims handlers and call centres.
Darren at Pedalcover is a joy to deal with and a keen cyclist too

They are oem 170mm thought I read somewhere that 170 came with one or two spacers pre installed?. Anyhow I’ll let them bed in and see. Thanks for the guide LoCo, think I started with about 8 or 9 then removed some. But I’ve lost track now

I tried to get one in a large but was sold out. It’s a fantastic spec for the price. I eventually bought the top spec aluminium Tm. MTB-MAG.com did a 15 bike comparison test and the stereo sl which has the same frame and suspension, scored very well. So far I’m two rides in and can’t fault it. As far as reviews go I’d imagine it to handle fairly similar to the hpc or look at last year’s fritzz. Basically the same bike

Excuse the auto spell errors above. They are 170 rc2 650b. Will try less air and see how it goes. Out of interest. How low ate u guys running psi. Think I’m about 65psi for approximately 85kg but can’t quite remember. Think I may need to start again and keep note

This is for older models But basically The same in reverse. There are plenty. Other threads detailing it on 2013 models.

The answer junk has given is pretty much what I had found out so far. Moving the pin Deffo does increase the travel but bottoming out of the damper being the danger. How do I go about telling if the damper is long enough?

Any reason the full build comes with the single compound “enduro” tyre up front and dual compound “trail extreme” on the rear? Rather than the other way round as is usually the norm

Did you use a proper tubeless valve or one from an old tube with the gorilla tape?

Pretty sure I read it’s been cancelled due to operating costs. They are just running the enduro instead but doing 2 runs per stag. To make it a bit longer.

Been on a x1 for several months, I’m 6ft and ride a large. Tested the medium but was deffo too small. Very impressed with all-around performanc. Very stable at speed and confidence inspiring front end. It is pretty agile for a big wheeler and climbs better that my xc hardtail. I’ve replaced the 90mm stem for a 70, which is an improvement imo. If it’s an od2 fork like mine, you can pick up a direct stock replacement fir about 20 quid. I also changed bars although not necessary. I changed the n nic upfront as it was too washy for most UK weather. I’ve had to replace the cable on the dropper, bit no big deal. I’ve ridden all sorts of trails, from natural mountain to trail centre and technical xc.
