Looks a lot like mine. Mine was from Ican, but frame looks the same. I have had mibe for almost two years, and no problems at all with it.

Mine is finished in Matt UD

Looks very nice, what wheels are those and what weight is it?

I only realised after I’d set it all up that the rear brake outer casing needs to be run all the way through

I was in talks with Ican but they didn’t have BSA frames in stock, and with the immenent brexit vote coming up I needed to act fast. Flyxii were great to deal with.

    Looks very nice that
How much was the frame and postage, what was delivery time like if you don’t mind me asking?

    Thank you!

It was $435 inc carbon seatpost and spare hanger and took a week to arrive. :-)

I’m curious how you know that it’s the same frame, just because it looks the same doesn’t mean it’s the same mould, the same layup or even the same supplier. There are many tiers of Chinese frame builders producing similar looking frame with wildly different spec and quality control.

My original post took into consideration the design (perhaps I should have used that wording).

I was researching manufacturers of that design and then went with the one that had the most users without issue (Flyxii).

Nice bike – Good luck with the decking.
Just reclaimed half of my back garden back after 3 days of destruction.

    Thanks!

By to do list, I mean next years? – I’d rather be out cycling.

    Thanks guys!

    Not ridden it yet

Finish wise it’s good, the cosmetic layer looks good to me, be a bonus if it doesn’t snap:

Frame weighed 1030g, forks 436g uncut.

Total build weight is 8.9kg – It’s my commuter so I didn’t go OTT plus I’ve still got the winter tyres on.

P.s. the decking is on my to do list.

4, tell px that they can make the situation good by sending you a 31.8 seat post

Tried that, they don’t (and don’t plan on) any.

OP out of curiosity, did they say that the oversized seat tube was a first for them?

Are some folk missing that the OP isn’t in the UK and that UK c”consumer law” does not, therefore, apply?

I assumed, probably incorrectly, that local rules applied since we’re not China?

If you decide to send it back (which would be my advice), be prepared for the long game! PX will do everything to get out of helping you. Don’t let them quote 30 days either, under UK consumer law it’s 6 months you have where they have to prove it’s not defective (the remaining 2.5 years the onus is on you).

As you can see in that thread ^^ I was spec’ing it as per their instructions and it was creaking like mad around the seatpost, mine looked like yours too. The problem is as soon as you’ve tightened a seat clamp around it the metal has to deform to stop it from slipping back down, then the only point stopping it from moving side to side is the clamped area as the bit below it is too big by a few mm.

If you are set on using it, I’d go down to a 27.2mm seatpost and shim it to 31.8mm, even though PX don’t recommend this….

E46 330i and Z4 3.0se use the same 231bhp M54 engine. Same block as the 325/2.5 but different intake manifold, brakes, ecu etc. It’s not de-tuned, but physically neutered.

The m54 is a cracking engine and bullet proof!

The E46 330/325/320 (all fitted with the m54) but the cylinder sizes are different too?

I’ve got a 05 330ci- it’s thirsty and just about keeps up with modern 118d’s. But it’s a fantastic car to drive, very entertaining in the right environment and so easy to work on if things go wrong. Plus I can carry two bikes in the back with the seats down.

My next car is probably going to be an RX8 though and i’m not entirely sure why.. :?

It arrived today, very impressed by the quality on this thing. An absolute steal at £150!!!

Came with Microshift shifters as oppose to the spec sheets Claris ones (micro ones look better imo)

And actually the 650c wheels aren’t as small as I had pictured them in my head:

Weighs 9.7kg, but I’m expecting to drop a little when the new tyres and tubes arrive.

Only problem I’ve had is the triple mech is horrendous to setup! The crank arms are 170mm, but I’m tempted to just swap the chainset out for some 172.5mm 105 ones and double mech I have laying around, this will also knock off over .5kg instantly!

    That ride has crazy stats:

Went passed them on Saturday, I can’t do RP anti clockwise though my OCD doesn’t allow

It was a cassette on mine, but mine was size 54cm so had 700c wheels. I think that they’re the same on the 650c ones. It’s worth greasing and adjusting the hubs when new as they’re a known weak point. Decathlon will sort out any problems though.

    Thanks!

Just bought the missus one of these, she’s 5ft 3 so should fit her fine.

Tyre choices are a bit slim though!

Does it have a cassette or freewheel?

Agree that PF41/BB86/92 is pretty good – been running 2 frames for a number of years and both been creak-free / reliable unlike the ‘hell’ that is BB30 and derivatives. Got a KCNC BB on one – similar concept to Hope but cheaper and SRAM in the other.

Do you have a link to the KCNC one? The only ones I can find are press fit not threaded.

    or is it this? http://www.bicyclehero.com/gb/kcnc-bb86-adaptor-86-5x41mm-for-shimano-24mm.html?gclid=CM2LkNm3rM0CFQWfGwodV6AJZg

    I found these:

BB86 is much maligned, mainly because the OEM BB’s are of poor quality and have no way of making sure the 2 bearings stay in alignment with each other, which allows movement and causes creaking.

How do you fix it? Fit a good quality BB like the Hope PF41 unit, with 2 halves that screw together inside the frame this maintaining constant alignment, and don’t over tighten your cranks so you’re not adding any extra preload on the bearings. I’ve done thousands of miles on the same BB in my road bike, it’s still as smooth as the day it went in. But importantly too, should the bearings ever die, they are just MR2437 Enduro bearings that are replaceable separately for very little, but you’ll not need to replace them often. It’s not a cheap solution I’ll grant you at £90 plus the cost of the tools to fit it (we fit for free at our shop if you buy from us, I’d ask your local Hope dealer nicely as the tools are about £50), but it’s a hell of a lot better solution than the plastic crap offering that is a Shimano BB71!

    Thank you!

Is the BB91 much better from Shimano, the BB9141B?

^^^^ how you find the sizing on the Rapha ? I recently got a pair of their Classics in Large, which is as per size guide but they are so stretchy I might try a medium… 5ft 10.5, 34 waist, 12 stone 2….
The Large ones seem to wrinkle a bit around thigh area, but maybe just the material

Regarding Rapha, I recently bought some core bibs, tried them on in the shop beforehand.

I found the medium to be the best fit I’m 6ft, 32″ waist, 10 stone 5. My castelli bibs are all large (due to the straps).[/quote]

I think the mediums will be better, the material is so stretchy.

I think I have quite large thighs as I managed to convert most of my previous 15 stone bulk into muscle in that area, and the thigh area is the area with least room on the shorts for me.

That doesn’t mean they can drag their feet, if they were made aware of it at 4 months then no leg to stand on in court they just breached your consumer rights with their response saying due to the amount of time…etc etc

That’s not the gameplan though- they just want to deter people and make it a hassle so that they go “oh well it was only £150” and give up.

Thinking about it £300 (£450) isn’t a bad price for an RTD90, but there’s 3 reasons I won’t be taking them up on that:
    1) At the time (3 weeks ago), if I was refunded, I could have bought it for £282 extra
    2) I will not actively advertise them beyond what I’ve already done (instagram)
    3) If that was to go wrong – why would I go through all this again?!

I’m just leaving the bank to it now, I’ve just made PX aware I’ve got the bank involved and the person apparently dealing with it has now changed.

correct – additionally after the 6 months passes you have up to 6 years to make a claim against faulty manufacturing (although in this case the burden falls upon you to prove it). I wouldn’t imagine that would be too difficult though – unless they are going to accuse you of removing the tube, welding in a new baggy one and having it repainted!
MSE site is very good for this sort of stuff.

Good, as I’ve just quoted that in my response haha.

    I’ve been using which? http://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/regulation/consumer-rights-act#the-first-six-months

    nathb

According to the Consumer Rights Act, and my credit card company, I’ve got 6 months?

    The first six months

If you discover the fault within the first six months from purchase, it is presumed to have been there since the time of purchase – unless the retailer can prove otherwise.

During this time it’s up to retailer to prove that the fault wasn’t there at the point of purchase – it’s not up to you to prove that it was.

If an attempt at repair or replacement has failed, you have the right to reject the goods for a full refund or price reduction – if you wish to keep the product.

No deduction can be made from a refund in the first six months following an unsuccessful attempt at repair or replacement.

The only exception to this rule is motor vehicles where a reasonable reduction may be made for the use you’ve already had of the vehicle after the first 30 days.

If you’d prefer to keep the goods in question you can request an appropriate price reduction.

Since they are refusing to repair.

I’ve just received a response from PX:

Apologies for you not having a reply sooner, so our warranty team asked me to contact you regarding your London Road frameset.

Further to Alex’s email, we were unable to replicate the creaking with just the frame, hence the conclusion with the seat clamp.

I’ve looked at your 3 suggestions and the best I can do on an RT90D frame would be £300, alternately we could do a new London Road (in any colour) for £125.

We wouldn’t advise putting a shim in the frameset with a smaller diameter seat pin. Due to the time since purchase, we would not offer a refund on this frameset.

If you can let me know how you would like to proceed, I’ll make the arrangements.

    Excellent.

Ah ha, they have no more BSA frames left in 56/58cm.

    Back to deciding whether I should get a 55cm or 57cm AC059?

    Any thoughts?

I’m no fan of P-X, but wasn’t this “Sports Direct” comment just in reference to owning the brands you sell, rather than employing everyone on zero hours contracts and so on?

Sounds extreme, but go for Small Claims proceedings

That’ll be the next point of call if the bank doesn’t reverse the charge.

On the phone they seem pretty confident they’ll take the case up, which is excellent as it’s taken barely any effort – 20 mins.

What frameset did you go for?
