There has been research that suggests that dpf’s breakdown the large particulates in to very fine ones that escape the filter. These super fine particles are buyont in the air whereas the larger particles fall, so potentially making it worse.

Unless you are in a commercial vehicle or do astronomical miles you should be driving a petrol.

I have had problems in the past..

I have a hiatus hernia, however I rarely suffer from acid reflux. I use Omeprazole if I have an ulcer along with antibiotics, however since moving to Italy to work as a bike guide the problem has only recurred twice in 10 years, whereas working in London it was annual.

My biggest advice is to avoid too much salt and acidic foods and too much dairy. And don’t eat late at night, this is the worst thing as reflux will be worse when you lie down. also don’t sleep on your left side.

And exercise, this has been the biggest benefit for me..

so surely anyone from N Wales would support Wrexham

They do and any other local team, Almost everyone I know in N Wales supports two teams

I was told (in Porthmadog) that there is/was a lot of antipathy about Liverpudlians in N.Wales, may have been having my leg pulled though!

There is. Due to the fact that a couple of villages were drowned to build reservoirs, Celyn for example..

But for example everyone who follows football supports two teams, a local team and a premiership team… Mostly Liverpool or Everton!! I dont know of anyone in North Wales who supports Cardiff or Swansea , although they may exist

I also worked with a couple of guys that I thought were from liverpool from their accent. Both were actually from north Wales.

People have often mistaken my accent for that of Liverpool. Liverpool at one stage had a huge Welsh population so big that they had a couple of Eisteddfods (Welsh cultural festival) there, not sure now though.

Public transport is crap in North Wales, but stunning and quiet roads to get about tho…

I was referring to the statistic that 90 percent of the Welsh population lives within 50 miles of the English border. It’s different to Scotland.

Wales at its narrowest is approx 50 miles from the English border, Barmouth to Oswestry!!

Coming from Welsh speaking Gwynedd and Welsh speaker myself, we know that in this age total independence is a bad idea, patriotism and nationalism doesn’t get in the way of common sense, my entire family who are fiercely welsh think of Plaid as a load of idiots, they are labour voters and always will be… although worryingly UKIP had made an impression on some family members.

We are more pissed off that Cardiff and the South gets all the investment. We have closer ties in the North with Liverpool than we do with Cardiff.

A largish company making childrens clothing in my home town closed down a few years ago as they couldn’t compete with cheap imports, so moved all manufacturing to China. The owner told me that costs are now rocketing and will soon be at the point where there wont be much difference making it in the UK again.

So best of luck in your venture, I’m sure you will do well

    Mine has been run to 230k miles. Its a 2008 2.5 130.

It still ran but my mpg fell to about 30 doing 70 on mway!!! It felt clunky and stank of exhaust fumes in and outside.

Got her checked out and im now 3.5k lighter!!!

New turbo, driveshafts, suspension linkages, manifold, power steering pumos etc, (all genuine vw parts) and a pendle remap to 190hp.

In that 230k nothing other than a (dpf delete and serivice items) had been replaced, so not too bad.

My van however has spent most of its life on motorways.

Depending where you are based but TH performance in portsmouth area will give it a detailed health check, even put it on a dyno to see how it runs….

They are great vans, but yours is at that age when it can get costly.

My guiding company is in Italy, but I spend roughly 5 months and approx 6k euros building and maintaining trails.. Many other guiding companies do the same

However some areas/countries are quite relaxed about trail work, other areas can be incredibly strict on what you can/cannot do..

This is what pisses me off with UK insurance.

In europe you insure the car, anyone with a valid licence can drive it. In the UK you insure the person for a specific car and costs 3 times as much..

Make sure the length and cut of the cable is correct as this can cause issues …. Assuming it is the stealth one.

You already have the perfect vehicle, you can easily add some seats, my t5 is on 230k and drives like new. If you do only 8 k a year why sell? no other 6/7 seater will retain value like a T5. Or get a shuttle/caravelle/multivan. The spec is much higher than a standard t5 van. Alternatively as mentioned above add some seats..

Could also be the turbo gasket leaking blowing oil on to the exhaust. But more likely the manifold, the gaskets on mine need replacing

I am currently doing a long term test of an enduro 29er, after years of hating 29, i love it, I’m a guide in the Italian Alps and I wont go back to smaller wheels. Nukeproof and evil are two long travel 29ers i can think of and also don’t discount the new stumpjumper fsr 29, for the uk its a better bike.

Where are you based? I’m in the UK t the mo and I have a large carbon expert enduro, your welcome to take it out for a spin…

I avoid the A5 in wales, never mind anywhere else!!! Its changed a lot since roman times..

My advice would be to do the minor roads along the A5 if you must follow its course

Shimano own a large chunk of Fox via holding companies, and now also marzocchi by association…

So shimano do forks, 15mm was pushed via fox because it was difficult and expensive to tool up for 20mm as they use cup cone in their hubs.. and other things

I had the quest tyres, lasted 4 days on the back (in the maritime alps) also very weak sidewalls. These tyres wouldnt last the TP, even though they are the sponsor

Anyway did yuo work with Ride Slovenia? I plan to go with Ride Slovenia with the “good” leisure lakes group in August..

I have them on my enduro 29er, repalced the crappy wide rimmed rovals that came with it.

light stiff, and the narrower rim means they dont get dinged by rocks.

I’m a guide in the maritime alps and they have done a season of heavy use without any hassle, they look a bit tatty but are still true and no broken spokes.
