Hi Guys…thanks for the heads up.

We actually do a 2/3 centre freeride/shuttle tour using fulvio and Marko in Calizzano, and then over to Nico and Angelo in Nava.

From Nava this links to us in Molini and the last day on the trails in San Remo…..So alp to sea…

We take care of all transfers and your luggage and you arrive at your next destination by bike!!

Our website is being updated at the mo so details should be there early december..

    Ciao

as above. the different area areNOT linked by lifts so you will need your own transport. when i went there 3 years ago i want too impressed. bardonecchia has 3 lifts but only opened one per day on rotation, may be better now though.

    Hey there..

Did you ride with us in Molini? I remember a mega with a van..

I have been riding mine with a large volume rp23 kashima and an rp2.

The rp2 has a high hi speed compression tune, so on the climbs it nearly rigid and on the descents….better than the monarch but high volume shocks (especially on frames with a yoke) blow their travel too easily, and too much compression starts affecting small bump sensitivity..

I borrowed a small volume float CTD and it was much better mid range, try to get the volume of your float reduced and it will be much better..

Mine will have CCDB coil and a marz 55rc3ti soon….. the best currently out there in suspension…IMO of course

also if you go on the french vtt site you can download the maps on the waymarked routes. greg germains books are also good…check out the ig site. akso 1001sentiers.com is worth a look

Cy, why is it Finale you want to stay in? it is hell in July and August,

Further West is better and quieter with hardly anyone riding on the trails.

Jo sent you an email with some ideas but this is the Italian riviera, so wont be cheap..

Also try the german sites as most holiday houses here are owned by the germans..

Where we are based a 3/4 bed house costs about €500 but still a lot to do for the kids and the beaches only 30 mins away.. we have had many families and they all loved it as all the kids in the village all play with each other and being Italy people here look out for other peoples kids too so ou can relax more..

I am a late adopter for pretty much everything but I look forward to the possibility of a lighter, less draggy, less cloggy, more robust and more affordable frame mounted gearbox much more than I look forward to losing my front mech and shifter.

The pinion I would say not too far off..

The only addition XX1 has over any other clutch mech is that it has a different profile to the teeth on the chainring…….do people really think thats enough to keep you chain on compared to a bog standard chainring?

In most situations a top guide will be fine…but as I found out the chain still came off.

you can of course use the XX1 cranks with a 10spd chain?

had a go on one of the new 2014 spesh enduro’s….

looks effing awful with that big cassette but looked ok on the 29’ers….mech was massive as well..

To ride it felt no different to a normal set up, but it needed a full (up an bottom) chain guide for our trails in Molini, Italy, chain came off even with a top guide..

If the gear ratios on the cassette could be lower and thus a shortcage mech then it would be better……but i will stick with my 36/33 in the marntime as there is nothing my way I cant get up.

i am not 100% but the older bos 140 travel had the same axle to crown length as the 160 version. also travel adjusr always affects suspension performane….hence why u are selling the fox? solo air revs would be better

Hmmm this is an interesting subject, we regularly drop into the trials in Val Roya (Provence)from the Italain border as well as the trails around the Cote d’azur. We have never been approached by the French authorities…

We are based in Italy so not sure how this would work if they decide to have a chat!!!

As for Italy dont worry, they are a long long way off from doing any qualifications. In Molini where we operate the village gets shed loads of money via our guests (bars, hotels etc..)…ultimately money talks…if I did a catered chalet and took all the money then it might be a different matter… could this be why French authorities are clamping down…sharing the wealth and all that?

its all about economics….its much cheaper to install only leccy windows on a production line, than having to do different things… so a more basic car will cost equivelant or more than a better specced one..

Only case for this is somwhere like china/india where they are all basic….but then to get them to europe they have to pass all sorts of tests, emissions, safety etc… so the cars will be more expensive….

nasher » i have some french and italian maps that i have scanned,

With permission of the copyright holder?

No! why? its for my own personal use, I am not going to make and sell maps etc…

Basically there are no digital italian maps and the french IGN over the border do not come in digital….hence my post

from your last post and my review in dirt… i rate the mega very very highly….VFM and performance is impossible to beat unless you are an internet only brand.

Nukeproof are CRC’s own brand…..technically its therefore the biggest brand in the world….BUT…with the flexibilty and forward hinking and dvelopment of a smaller company….

    I cannot wait for my 2013 mega…..

get a discounted 2012 pro…amazing piece of kit..or wait until jan for the 2013

EDIT# oh and the mega has PROPER mavic UST and maxxis hi roller UST tyres, 1X10, the only thing that will need an upgrade will be the shock to a monarch plus if you start to do racing or big alpine stuff……sorted.

2013 mega will have the monarch plus, as well as the hollow X0 cassette….but will be about £200 more than 2012 list….again great value

£500 cash or a £500 purchase? If it’s the former then they probably also have your pin number, so nowt to do with CRC

It was a £498 purchase in Germany…. like i said i have only used CRC online…. but it could be anything i suppose just sprung to a comclusion as CRC/Wiggle have had these problems before

    nasher

Do you use the same card for other purchases (non-online), like petrol or the corner shop??

No, only about 3 or 4 legit companies that i have used for business and those i have used for years and by phone…unless they have been compromised..

I use CRC occasionally for stuff i need quick, and this is the only time online..

I heard of the petrol station thing (was it esso?) and dodgy corner shops.. so i use only cash for these.

Hey Ewan…swapped the cruz for a mega?

    My mega with…

Float 36 kashima front and rear
mavic sx with 2.35 maxxis single ply
    1 x 10
    no dropperpost
    XTR brakes
nukeproof finishing kit is about 30.5 – 31 pounds (me and bike on bathroom scales) so some margin of error there..

The new 2013 mega is about a pound lighter so that will be interesting to see.

    Hi Guys

That was me who did the test for dirt….

to the OP I would suggest you go for the Remedy its an excellent and well proven bike.

The slash9 is a good bike dont got me wrong, its just mainly down to the spec choice, and the suspension that let it down to what could be an excellent alp eater..

The DRCV is the biggest culprit.. it seems its a shock that tries to mimic a coil again IMO a frame should be designed around the characteristics of an air can, otherwise stick on a coil.. It lacked mid range support that when ridden hard into corners the “second chamber” would open giving the feeling that a tyre has just popped off the rim, people have often experienced similar things with a large volume can…just that this is worse!!! I did try a fuel with a DRCV and it was great, so maybe some tweaking to give better mid travel support may be the answer!!

biggest gripe is that you can only use a DRCV unit with this bike as BOS told me (was going to get Bossed up) only rockshox do a unit to fit, as lo and behold Ross Schnell their top enduro rider doesnt use the DRCV!! funny that.

The talas 36 is all over the net as to why its not the best fork….swap the internals for float and that problem will be fixed easily enough… I ran mine with a 180 float wound down to 170…worked great..

As for cable routing full outers inside means rattling and noise in the frame, We dont get mud much here in Italy so no issue for me…. the stealth reverb is ace tho..

XO i like just wished they got it enduro ready with 1×10 and use the money saved for a XX or X0 casette…I guess with SRAM’s new 1×11 I would expect to see that on a 2013 model.

I can see why Trek went for that spec, as lets face it the market is much bigger in the US and very different to Europe, and I do ride bikes to extremes, and the slash did survive….nothing broke except the tyres..

I enjoyed my time on it like a mistress….but it was my nukeproof mega i always ran back home to…

I could go on for ages with pro’s and cons but drop me a line if you want any info…address in my profile.
