you can remove the cables and mech complete without disasembling them.

the front mech clamping is different, so you will need a new one, and yes adapter to make your hub 142mm.

other than that everything will else will go on.

the TT length of the 2013 is about 10mm longer than the old one as the have slackened the seat tube to give more reach..

Try the italian riviera, we do trips but in July we will be in the mountains and Molini although lively I think gallo nero will get a bit boring for her.

try http://www.italybikehotels.com for 2 hotels in finale ligure (your wife will love it), hotel medusa is right by the beach and offer guides for mtb.

Finale has some tracks waymarked for DIY and also contact http://www.finalefreeride.com for shuttles and guides as well as other info.

use the train when you are there…lots of stops including monaco….andventimiglia…Italy…where the coffee is better, ice cream is better, food is better….and lots cheaper..

Its also possible to take the train up the mountains…like sospel…again lots to do and great mountainbiking…

    you dont need a car.

    To the OP mrkbutty

THere is lots of ace riding in the mountains around Nice….

Contact Ash at trans provence who lives in Sospel behind Nice (about 1hr on the train).

We are near menton/monaco just over the border in Italy ventimiglia/sanremo where we rivierabike are based for the winter.

There are much more trails than the French VTT maps show

try the michel thomas cd…gives a good grounding in grammar… i used for my italian

Also learn and understnd how the english language is structured and how it came to be….makes it a lot easier to understand the differences with other languages.

About two thirds of english is french anyway its just “un question du prononciation”

I have only raced the italain and french enduros, so I guess are a little different to thee uk trail centre based ones..

a team i know who use ibis mojos use angle sets, offset bushes and all sorts to get their bikes to descend better

If you go you will need a car.. as the resorts are NOT linked by lifts and are quite far apart.

The lifts are limited outside august for example in bardonecchia they only open one lift per day out of 3.

also dont buy into accommodation and lift pass deals as they only allow you to ride one resort which you will get bored after 2 days.

IMO there are better places in Italy and France.. La thuile and over to bourg/tarantaise ater a day in cham and pila..

    or rivierabike 🙂

If there are climbing timed sections, something that you can climb on as you’ll gain far more time than you’ll lose on the descent.

The whole point of Enduro racing is that you get timed ONLY on the descent.. however there is a time limit in the transition stage to get to the start of the next descent…generally you can ride this at a steady pace so your bike needs to be light enough to pedal but set up for the descending.

I ride a np mega for guiding, racing etc.. and the long wheeelbase and slack angles means its a mini DH bike…the steep seat tube though pushes your weight forward for efficient climbing…. The perfect enduro bike and the pro model is amazing VFM and there is NOTHING you need to change.

this is the TR less travel and lighter than the current mega.

If you are also considering a stumpy then this is the bike to test.. I think the frames will be available in January and the bikes early March tho…so you will have to wait a bit

there is a 130mm travel (Mega TR) and a 160mm travel (Mega AM) versions for 2013…

IMO the TR wil be the bike to beat for UK riding

We have many german clients, and one thing that they seem to moan about is the lack of legal singletrack to ride and places to access….and it is also heavily policed and enforced..

So maybe guided mtb tours ith lots of singletrack may be limited…

the climbs are as brutal as the descents….with manycarry a bike bits so here you may want substitute your coil set up fir air to save a couple of pounds. maybe use a 32/33 tooth up front and a tubeless set up. i live and ride in the area and swear by dual pleak imoy maxxis tubelessed up to mavic sx. i sometimes use the crossmark up back for better rolling resistance. oh and enjoy the event…

if you re in the surrey area, nirvana cycles have both the mega and covert to test…. they are both very smilar bikes, but IMO the mega climbs better and a bit longer in the wheelbase

“idea of a Mega, I suspect it would be be fun for half my riding and a bit of a drag for the rest. I’ve reluctantly had to accept that I’m probably not gnarlcore enough for the Mega”

One of our guides has a carbon blur LT and is now riding the mega…he prefers the mega for climbing (has a steep head tube) and is a lot more fun and stable on the dexents…the mega is 60mm longer for the same size blur LT!!

get some small hypedermic needles…fill with 5wt oil and squeeze through the seals…..this lubes the lips on the seals and also fills the sponge with oil..

I have done this to a pair of 36’s for the last 8 months with riding almost every day in alpine terrain and amazingly…no wear.

    Or a Mitsubishi delica?

ours has done 350,000km and most of that pulling people with a trailer full of bikes up and down alpine roasds for the last 6 years….other than bits of rubber perishing she hasnt yet let me down…essentialy a shogun/l200 with an mpv body

Very very comfortable…(ours is a bit clunky now tho)

i cant help thinking that the fox is 3 years out of date. comeon 3 positionsetting? like the original gravity dropper and you candrill a hole where u like. also cables dangling from the saddle? ks is now free of cable slop, and thetes reverb stealth.

seriously why would you buy the fox unit?

Why go for the YT for European Enduro’s, the geometries on both are equally suited.

There’s so much bollocks spouted on here it’s unreal.

That was my opinion and since I have raced and helped some of the Italian super Enduro’s and also guide on the terrain I know what Bike I would go for….mainly for the kit and the suspension thats on the wicked….i.e its enduro ready, the cube is gonna need dropper post chain guides..

But If I was in the UK then it’s a flip of the coin..

    nasher
    Free Member

THe Wicked also has a reverb….so add £300 and about 400g if you want a dropper post… For UK enduros i think you will be fine on either….but bigger european stuff then i would go for the wicked…

Try Nirvana cycles in Dorking, Surrey I think thy will have the cube in as a test bike..

You have an ouchy of the knee, I diagnose a course of MTFU

Thts what I have been doin the past week with no improvement, my job is an MTB guide and I am unable to ride my nike..

Yeah that’s often how it works with certain injuries and illnesses.

The pharmacist is better at diagnosing than our local doctor, and here there are no walk in centre’sas such so its long queues tomorrow at SAn Remo pronto soccorso, I have been there 5 times this year and this will be the first for my own injury!!
