I was at Brighton on Tuesday too; it was beautiful & the use of The Carpenter’s ‘Calling Occupants..’ was sublime.

I was at the Blur concert at the end of the Olympics and they showed profiles on the big screens of all leading contenders before Blur came on.

Farah – big cheer from the crowd
    Murray – ditto
    Wiggins – ditto
Ennis – everyone’s eardrums were burst by the biggest & sustained cheer I’ve ever heard

Blur sounded a tad better after thst.

All good advice so far. I was there in September for 3 days and we walked everywhere, it’s a walking city, taking in path of the Wall, WWII stuff and the Ramones museum in the Jewish qtr where some of the buildings have schrapnel scars and bullet holes.
I didn’t rate the curry wurst but you have to try it anyway.

We stayed at the Adlon, which is very very special, but they wouldn’t let me re-create Jacko’s famous baby suspending scene from that window even though I found a willing local.

The first single I bought was I Love You Love Me Love by GG & the b-side was (Hand’s Up) It’s A Stick Up Baby.

Should have seen it coming really..

Rotor Stern – hi, I was at that ASF gig with Nik Fiend crouching on the stage 30 mins before they came on to conquer his stage fright. Lot’s of cobwebs & machine ignoring – ace!
Also there when that skinhead fell through the roof and died during Play Dead’s set – were you at that one?

Jaws for me when it first came out at Stourbridge Cinema with Alison McKenzie – our first date.

Ben Gardner’s head appearing through the hole in the hull. I wasn’t expecting that.

Thank you for the positive comments; we really enjoyed hosting the event for you again.

We have a post BigDog de-brief tonight and it would be really useful for me to collect any positive / negative feedback – you know, so we can continue to improve the event for you.

    Cheers
    Simon

Last year’s course and this year’s course:

The course is drying well & we helped to drain the puddles in ‘Jungle’ & lopped a fair bit of the overgrowth on Sunday; it will be good.
Same course as last year unless the weather changes dramatically. We’re pretty much sold out & looking to welcome all our riders to a great days riding.

I think I’ve missed a bit, what did Edward do to help locate the bike?

Reasons why I’ve not taken part this year include:

Repetition & familiarity of the main events and their courses e.g. MM, 24/12 & 24 Solo Nationals etc. However, missing them this year could enhance my experience next time.

Riding more on the road and going to ‘new’ road based events.

Petrol prices to travel to events are prohibitive.

I bought a new bike this year and I can’t afford to do all of the events that I used to do.

The entry prices this year are not as good value as they have been.

The weather hasn’t helped; it hasn’t stopped me riding at all (far from it) – just stopped me from wanting to ride round in muddy circles.

Some events have conflicted with football – I bought my first season ticket for 25 years this season.

?”If you don’t stop it, there won’t be any home to go back to!”

This nods it’s head to Jaws “If you son’t close the beaches you won’t have a fourth of July”. (or similar)

I had a similar exchange on the train recently & the job creation argument (or default lazy lowest denominator excuse) was used. “But what if the person who would gave to tidy up was employed creatively instead?” I asked.
“Pi55 off” seems to be an acceptable response these days when you’re in the wrong.

Rode with Richard from Itford Hill to the Adur – seems focussed & calm. He’s only going to go and do this isn’t he?
The sun’s out now & I’m full of cheese on toast. Richard says he’s looking forward to a pint; reckon he’s earned it.
    Godspeed.
