As a london messenger of 3 1/2 years and not one single accident, do NOT piss about with hgvs, if its ahead, let it go, whats it gonna save you time wise eh? Give them as much space as they need and stay where you can be seen. Having spoken to the police on this matter more than once, even experienced riders have thought ahh that’ll be ok…..nah afraid not sunshine….don’t even think about it, stay out of their way and stay in one piece….oh and obtain the 6th sense, knowing what a vehicle will do before it does it…they all have body language, know how to read it, it saves me shit everyday or so.

Never ever undertake an HGV, it’s simply not worth the few seconds you think you’ll gain.

Loads of them in london and they are awful, don’t even have a machined braking surface, the ones with red rims are the worst, i hate them…i’d rather ride an apollo.

Cycled past an hour after it happened on the way into town and go past the tributes on the railings on the way home everyday……a stark reminder….very sad.

6″ in London, most I’ve ever seen since I lived here

The last time i can remember this much snow in london was around 1982, thus no work for me today (cycle courier) spoke to the office at half 7 and not suprisingly, anything on two wheels is staying at home….i can also see a tube train from my back window that has’nt moved for 50 mins…cool….wanna get out on the bike and take some photos though….fun fun fun!!!!

Have 5.1s at the mo all good but can be almost impossible to get certain tyres on, hence lots of sidewall scratches, but hey…black marker pen sorts it if you is bovvered. Have also run 721s, *90* grams heavier but could get almost all tyres i used with them on without levers. Would get another set of 721s over 5.1s in future due to tyre issues….but 5.1s do go tubeless v easy by all accounts…..

Last time I was in Finnegans wake it was FULL of underage kids drinking alchopops

yep, sounds about right to me, it was even worse when it was the Queen Victoria….well dodgy.

BTW Have you tried The Dolphin in Hanwell? Same old folk with the same old pint there forever. Or The Fox by The Grand Union Canal, also W7? Looooovely

Used to drink in The Dolphin alot around 8 years ago, and Matt my house mate worked there around 2000 thus how we met, The Fox is a good pub and the beer festival they have is well worth a look….but finnigans IS a sh1t hole no question.

    – The Spinning Wheel, Northfields – THE BEST Ealing area pub: live music on both floors, loads of Antipodeans ready for fun, decent kebeb opposite. In fact it’s so good my wedding do was there on an Open Mike Night.
    – Finnegans Wake, Ealing – great atmosphere and you can read a book inside midweek without being inconvenienced by anybody.

Are you completely mad? The spinning wheel was a place best left alone, seen numerous fights there, but had some good nights too, but Finnegans Wake….W@nk more like, full of chavs, kids, crap beer, quite quite appalling….this was some time ago but it looks like the same old thing now….would’nt dream of drinking there.

The Rose and Crown- Ealing… Good beer, food and friendly staff
The Castle- Ealing… another Fullers pub that does nice Thai food and shows the rugby

Both good pubs, the Rose and Crown was where me and my friends first started drinking 15 years ago.

Our rental situation is near perfect….the landlord lives in hongkong (the house is in Chiswick) we have no inventory due to the fact that whenever we move out, he wants to gut the place, all he is interested in are the white goods, our deposit is in the bag and as it stands, the house is in much better nick than when we moved in as we’ve decorated.

He has been very helpfull with any problems and has thanked us for being ‘understanding’. The last tenants were trouble by all accounts.

Red Lion – Ealing, finest Fullers pub in London that I know of

    Aye, a fine pub indeed.

Also…The Ealing Park Tavern, a free house, good ale changed every week and excellent food.

The Duke of Sussex, much the same but in chiswick.

    I’ve never broken either, I’m 12 stone.

Yeh wierd aye….One friend of mine has been as much as 19 stone and i’ve known him for 23/4 years or so and he has never ever had this problem, now he just destroys wheels instead, which i’ve never done…

some things are just worth paying more money for – thomson is just one of those things

True, but if you consider the rrp for the i beam, not much in it really, but after singing its praises, it is, now farking shiite….clearly not strong enough (i’m only a little over 9 stone, but have a history of busting posts and saddle rails).

The spare Easton ea50 post and bell air ti rail are on now, have snapped the bolt on the ea50 post twice already, so guess i need some thing more heavy duty to handle my vast bulk. Two bolts for a start…

And my flat mate has just pointed out that i’ve shredded the arse on my shorts…they were on their way out anyway but thats not the point really is it, just hope my back does’nt present a problem…

Well, after saying i’ve had no problems with my i beam post/saddle, guess what happened on the way home 40 mins ago…..post failed in manner described above, i landed in the road on my arse, sort of sitting position i spose, bike carried on up the road for another ten meters until it hit the curb. A nice chap on a scooter behind me, picked up my bike, asked if i was ok and said it was “quite spectacular!”.

My back is’nt feeling to clever and i’m thinking a little email to silverfish and sdg wont go amiss…..thomson post me thinks…..

This issue does appear to be exactly that…
