But why would I want to buy a fork that is already 2 years old, never mind older in a few months?

Answer, I don’t. Boost is now being forced on people gradually, even though it’s arguable if it’s even needed. I never find my 27.5 wheels noticeably flexy.

Yep Marzocchi have used that method for years and years.

I am sure Rockshox themselves said that.

Not only that, I was looking at a new Pike fork in a few months time, however, I do not need a new hub/wheel. That immediately removes the Pike as an option.

Interesting, the new boost standard which was to give people options, is now the only standard on the new Pike. Nice one.

I like the sound of the new Revelation more.

Did that work. I have one of those and think the release valve would vent before getting to a high enough pressure.

Search for Tesa 4289 on ebay. Apparently very good.

    Brand X here too.

Works very well. As mentioned above a little bit of play but doesn’t seem to have got worse.

The collar does seem to want to unscrew itself on mine but I just nip it back up by hand.

Hopefully if it does die it will do so after about 22 months to get a new one within warranty lol. If not, I will probably buy a new one when it does go.

Very trendy now obviously. Perceived image of being a hardcore moutain biker.

    Blame enduro i reckon.

There is a guy in town who commutes wearing one on a BSO.

I had a Reign in 2005 and the Escarpe I have now definitely seems a better pedalling platform.

Not the Sommet, but I have the escarpe pro.

If the suspension works the same it is great, never need to use the shock lockout as it doesnt really bob (although longer travel may be different) it is sensitive enough to small bumps but ramps up nicely on bigger hits.

The alu frames arent the lightest but that isnt the end of the world IMO.

I dont think they are as long as some other low long and slack bikes.

They do get good reviews but never seem to find many who have them.

I have opened a ticket with Trek and await there response.

Thats where the Unconditional Guarantee comes in which is offered by Trek on their products and is linked to in the original post.

Will see what their response is now i have contacted Trek and given them the details.

If they sort it out i am not bothered. Its just the fact rhey seem to think an Unconditional Guranter offered by the maker doesnt apply.

As i am not happy with the tyre i want to return both which to me is covered by the Unconditional part.

I have referred the shop to the guarantee as linked above and asked them for a response.

My take is, unconditional is unconditional. I.e. it doesnt matter why I am not happy.

Its a pair of tyres where the packaging is clearly marked with the Bontrager Unconditional Guarantee logo.

One of the tyres is misshapen and unuseable, couldnt tell until fitted. I asked about sending them both back and received a curt reply with their terms and conditions about how things have to be unused etc.

Have just had to email Rutland as one of them is badly mishapen side to side. Have refitted several times, beads are seated even but massive wobble side to side that actually prevents the bike being ridden no handed.

Apart from the stem. You are the common denominator.

The gap from steerer to top of stem looks quite big to me. Certainly more than i ever leave.

Could it be that stem is very susceptible.

In December i cleared a tricky rock descent, then a wet tree root took my front wheel. Broken ribs and hand.

Best thing is to ride it again and do that section again.

Always remember a creme egg eating competition on night shift years ago.

I managed 5 and just felt disgusting, others managed between 4 and 8. The winner? 21 creme eggs.

About 1 minute after eating the last one, he puked in a bucket. Smelt like hot chocolate.

According to the guage on my pump

    9 psi front
    15 rear

Bonty XR4 2.35 tyres on 650b 26mm internal rims, with tubes.

So in other words, no idea.

Looks lovely. Great bike to get back into riding.

Dont think the Mavics are like Enves as the Mavics have vosible spoke nipples. Still look like awesome wheels though, and i think Enve are overpriced anyway.

So about 100g heavier than the 2.4 Ardent, but a smidge wider across the tread too.

Mine arrived this morning. Was a pain fitting to my Ryde rims. 60g lighter than a 2.4 High Roller 2. Not sure the difference to the Ardent 2.4 on the back yet.

Seem comparable size wise to the Maxxis.

I would imagine its best to use avid adaptors with avid brakes.

Doesnt mean it reads pressure accurately. Could just mean its wrong to .01 psi.
