Never understand people saying the shifting is heavy with Shimano clutch engaged.

Not once have I thought it was anything like heavy.

Try ringing one of the bike shops? They may be willing to help

I went for a second hand edge 500 from eBay.

I think it’s great and does everything I need.  So I think I would choose one over the edge 25

15 to 20 mile XC on Saturday, with probably a turbo trainer session whilst watching sport/film tomorrow.

Wolftooth Remote.   Just nicely made and engineered and feels quality.

Possibly more a mmm moment than a wow.

What the scales say is just a number.

As long as you enjoy how it rides and it does what you want then does it matter what the scales claim.

At the end of the day though it’s never going to be as light as a long travel alu Giant Trance.

So to be honest it will work I just have to make sure I avoid cross chaining the granny ring with the smaller sprockets as the mech can’t take up that amount of spare chain?

Shouldn’t be a problem in all honesty as I have always been aware of and avoided cross chaining.

Ah ok. And just adjust the limit screw on the front much to stop it moving into the granny ring position  (If I remove the granny ring)?

    Never cross chain it.

Probably doesn’t need the range but hadn’t even considered just removing the granny ring.

Currently has an 11-32 9 speed

That all depends on how much seatposts you have sticking out of the frame at the moment with the seat in your normal riding position.

Not sure. But I know when I save my trainer miles as indoor training they don’t count to my yearly target.

That is truly bizarre in so many different ways.

If you save it as indoor trainer on Strava then afaik it doesn’t count.

I paired mine with my edge 500 and my phone and used Bkool which I then displayed on tv using a Chromecast.

Not fully interactive with Bkool as it’s not a ‘proper smart trainer but it certainly makes it a little more interesting.

Just bought a Tacx T2650 from Halfords this weekend for £99.

Pretty happy with it after a 1 hour session tonight.

Ok understand the longevity benefits of steel.

The whole system just seems a bit like a solution to a problem that very few people have.

How many of us change cranks often enough to need the different spiders?

How many change chainring size often enough that taking the crank off is a headache from having to do it so often?

I don’t see how it would be any quicker than changing the whole ring on a cinch system.

Several small bolts to undo instead of just the cinch ring or whatever it’s called.

Also £80 initially and then still 40 for every ring size.

I don’t believe people change cranks that often to warrant something like this (i.e. don’t need to keep changing the spider often) and are cinch rings not about 40 quid anyway.

Managed to find some cheap Salsa Salt Flat bars with 11  degree on eBay.

    Hopefully give me some idea.

This sort of proves there are no cheap 12 degree options.

I appreciate everyone trying to help with suggestions  but am not looking for anything over 12 degrees.

It was the slabs bars that were 70.

I don’t think the Syntace alloys came in the 12 degree.  Might be wrong though.

    Haven’t seen any for sale.

Thanks for the offer. Think that’s more sweep than I am after though.

    Thanks again though.

As a starting point I like the rise of the bar to be in a line parallel to that of the forks.

It always feels most comfortable to me that way and then it’s slight adjustments of brake lever and shifter until everything feels right.

Does it make replacing the cable and getting the tension right much easier on the brand x post?

I imagine it would as you can pull it through at the lever end after tightening up and then nip it up at the lever and trim the cable. Is that right?

The one thing I would say about the Vitus. Spare parts may be difficult even with them still making and selling the bikes.

I have been trying to get a rear mech hanger for my vitus. Out of stock everywhere. No response at all from Vitus, and CRC just said they will let me know.

I did ask that and apparently the memo makes it quite clear that this is policy and mentions disciplinary if people don’t adhere.

But they surely don’t have any right to tell an employee to make her Personal account settings private.

I wonder what time they want her to close the living room curtains on an evening.

I think she is more concerned with the fact that if they think they can govern what you do with your own personal accounts, what else are they going to try and get away with.

I keep my profiles private, but she doesn’t want to. Surely that’s HER choice and not that of her employer? I agree with her personally.

Talking to the union was what I suggested.

News just in is that they have also been told they can not be ‘friend’s with anyone for whom they may have any level of managerial responsibility.

My point isn’t that revealing information you shouldn’t is not a bad thing etc. But that should be dealt with accordingly IF it happens. As long as she doesnt mention work etc i still don’t see what right they have to tell her to set her own personal non work social media sites to private.
