Dan1980, thanks for recommending that app. Just installed it and it seems spot on.

Sorted as I realised I couldnt upload to Instagram either.
My lad had my sim card out earlier, needed to remove the battery to get to it but didnt set the correct date and time when he put it back together hence no uploads. 🙄

I met up with him to buy a roadbike about a month ago. Seemed a decent enough bloke and told me he was off to Oz on holiday this year. Seeing as the school hols have started and hes a teacher he may well be on hol now.

iffoverload thats a very nice offer but I didn’t buy mine from ebay. I bought it from the chap who makes them on pinkbike. Not too sure thats you is it?

Ive got one and I cant get it to work. The problem seems to be that the head of the chainring bolts foul the rear of the cassette. Turn them around and they foul the wheel spokes.

I use a hip pack, like a bum bag used to be.
Theres enough room for all my tools, jacket etc without being as sweaty as a backpack

Plenty of advice, keep it coming please.
I definitely wont go down the selespeed route nor the 2.5 route.
Currently I’ve got a Fiat multipla 1.9jtd which has proved to be more reliable than many cars I’ve owned its just getting a bit long in the tooth @ 190k (fsh).
I’ve read about oil usage and front suspension woes. I guess my other consideration is rear seat room. Still got 3 kids at home so they’d need enough room to travel in the back.

Thanks for the direction to bikecalc. If Ive used it correctly ive calculated that using 26″x2.1″ wheel/tyre combo a 38fx34r gives me the same distance per revolution as 36fx32r = 23.4″

A mates just gone through a similar thing and it was a disintegrating freehub

The Tesla freehubs are total rubbish. I had 2 failures, the first after just 40 miles the second after about 200. Each time the warranty work meant a 2 week turn around. I sold the bike the wheels were fitted to a coupke of weeks after the 2nd replacement freehub and shortly afterwards it failed again. Total rubbish.
Btw, if you speak to them before returning the wheel they will arrange collection from you at their cost.
interestingly I picked up a post from SS on facebook recently and I commented about the poor quality of the Tesla freehubs. There response was that warranty failures on the Teslas were very rare and they sell many thousands of them each year. They also said their turnaround on warranty work was now only 2-3 days not 14 days.

I’ll second everything mattmbk has said. The climb out of the town is very long on tarmac and then fireroad. I didn’t feel the descent was worth the climb tbh.

Yes I went and had a couple of hours there this morning. There was a good atmosphere, the chaps and chapess’s from Bridgnorth Cycling Club were all very friendly including the OP. 😆
Plenty of families there although it isnt really a family trail. Its been built for xc race use and that shows so theres no jumps and just a couple of very small drop offs.
The trail is 3 miles long and is very pedally but also flows quite well in places. There are some neat off camber turns and a short sharp climbs.
All in all the volunteers have done a good job of making a natural feeling trail that should drain well and bed in nicely the more its ridden.

Nant yr Arian. Although its a trail centre the amount of natural stuff up there is amazing and some parts of the man made stuff are well worth doing

I’m normally a 45 but a 46 in Shimano. I’ve just bought some Scott mtb shoes in a 45 and they fit spot on.

If you can its worth visiting the local council to get the definitive answer. Ive done this in the past and its proved very worthwhile.

Tojv I think youre probably right there. Looking closely it is the wider teeth that cause the noise and slight chain pick up.

@theotherjonv, the ring is in the inside of the tabs. Funny thing is that running 1×10 with a cheaper triple crank and 32t non nw ring and the same cassette I didnt have any issues

Im running a works 32t up front on a xtr m970 crank with 11-36 at the rear. The chsinline is terrible and you can actually hear the chain gripping the front ring in the largest 2 rear gears. This is without a spacer on the driveside bb aswell.

Can I add a question regarding spacing to this thread please?
I’m using xtr 970 cranks with a works components n/w 32t ring (in the middle ring position) and 11-36 on the rear. Using the bigger cogs on the rear the chainline is awful so much so that you can physically see and hear the chain pinging off the wider profile teeth of the front ring.
Does the front ring need spacing out? Or should I run the bb without any spacers on the drive side tp make the chainline better?

I was there on Friday and the Verderers wasnt too bad at all considering all the rain. I travelled 82 miles to get there. It was worth it.

I saved 1.3 kg by going from 3×9 alivio to 1×10 with a works components 32t narrow wide. It means the 700g of my dropper isn’t noticeable

I rode my Corratec all summer on tower pros. They are a very plush fork and if you want to you can tune them very specifically to your needs. I found them very stiff with no flex and a 20mm axle. However the forks went through their travel very very easily and with my 17.5st body weight I found that when crossing ditches I usually ended up over the bars as the forks went through all their travel and couldnt come back up quickly enough. I wouldnt have another pair.

It really isnt worth travelling that far to ride it.
The trail is 1 mile long and is basically a parallel blue/red with black ‘taster’ sections. Its nice and flowy adn to be fair not a bad bit of trail.
I ride it cause its local and Sandwell Valley is part of my regular 15 mile route but I wouldn’t go out of my way to ride it.

I love riding there. The man made trails are good but getting into the wild on the Syfydrin trail takes some beating.

I bought a set in April for my Corratec hardtail/.
Within 40 miles the rear was returned as the freehub failed.
A few hundred miles later and I’ve had to send the rear back again. I suspected the freehub but was told that a pawl had broken.
    Both wheels have needed truing/tensioning
The next time anything fails I’m sending the pair back as not fit for purpose and a refund.

My recommendation would be to avoid them like the proverbial plague
