Yeah rain and chilly temps forecast on and off for the next few days. I’m ready to emmergrat. Heard something really depressing on the radio the other day saying the gulf stream may fail and the UK would see much more of this type of weather if that happened. I’ll be off south in a campervan as really do feel rubbish when the weather is bad.

Don’t let her run around on the lawn when it’s wet or soggy is probably the only solution. Also don’t let her wee on it. The other options may help a little but ultimately fighting a losing battle. I care about having a nice lawn so unless it’s raining I follow the dog out with a watering can when she has a wee so it’s diluted and doesn’t burn holes.

    Stunning. What is it?

Really depends on budget but definitely go for something self propelled. How level is the lawn? Do you want stripes? If not don’t bother with a roller as it will mean it’s easier to mow if the grass is damp.

We have an ethical supermarket that sells soak without packaging, lots of loose dried goods and does refills for liquids.

Makes no sense to me and I’m a female. I’m always very punctual.

Also If you have some left over just leave it out to dry then keep it for bread crumbs. It’s makes awesome bread crumbs for macaroni cheese and never seems to go mouldy.

Sadexpunk I only use the liner to cover the top of the banaton I wouldn’t have thought to put the dough in it as then you wouldn’t get the pattern from the basket on the bread.

Ah well sure it still tastes good. You can do 100% spelt but it will always be denser as it is lower gluten so can’t rise as high. Probably better to do it in a tin to give it some support.

When I do my high hydration no knead loaf it always sticks in the banaton a bit but always puffs back up when in the oven. Someone told me dampen the banaton then rub in corn flour then normal flour to line it and someone else suggested lining with cling film so you can lift it out.

Autolyse is just leaving the salt out as as salt inhibits the starter a bit. That one was a tin for a change and don’t know what the crumb is like as not cut it yet but will do for breakie tomorrow.

Your method again Sadexpunk. Finding it simpler to do on the weekend as can start it early eve on Sat and bake Sunday morning as it’s lower hydration it’s easy to handle so kneading is not messy. Got pretty rough with the bread knife and had good results.

I hear kefir is great for hay fever and other allergies….

Hugo we’re talking about making kefir not yogurt. There’s no faff it’s literally dunk the grain in a jar of milk leave at room temperature for 24 hours ish and then strain them out again.

Re kimchi you don’t have to use the correct veg. Just whatever cabbage you have, fish sauce, garlic, salt and Korean red pepper flakes. Order online or get from an Asian supermarket.

It’s really easy to make. I’m making a batch once a week and keeping the grains just covered in milk in the fridge when I’m not making it. Not expecting any massive changes as I’m pretty healthy anyway but can’t hurt to have a diverse gut bacteria. My mum has ibs though so would be interesting to see if it helps her.

I download audible books to my computer and then onto my I tunes. Have loads on there including ones which I returned using the app and can chose which ones to sync to my ipod.

Really bad around Brighton. I find it so depressing. Fines and a TV campaign are required.

Not yet. Going to Google or ask on UK fermenting friends. There’s a whole world of fermented delights out there! My aunt just texted me to see if I want some kefir grains so looks like I’ll be giving that a try next.

It’s so satisfying playing about with bread isn’t it! Fulfils my creative side I think. The inside didn’t have many big holes like yours. Some around 1cm and then lots of smaller holes throughout so a really nice texture and though not as cool looking as cool I do prefer the smaller holes for spreading butter etc and it not all going through. I’m about to do another using your method and some local flour I bought in a market that says it’s a blend ideal for sourdough so will see how that comes out.

Re slashing have you tried bread knive yet? I don’t always slash mine and actually I think the way it splits naturally like in your pic looks awesome.

Going to try sourdough pizza for the first time at some point over this long weekend so will report back how that goes.

Homemade sourdough with butter and cottage cheese on one, bovril on the other.

    Loose leaf strong breakfast tea

1 btn fm on the Internet radio (really great local radio that just plays tunes and very little chat) check out tru thoughts on a Sunday eve.

Will be indulging in a lot of eating and drinking this long weekend I think to make up for the crappy weather. Town for food and drinks later, sourdough pizzas on Saturday and slow cooked pork belly belly planned for Monday.

https://flic.kr/p/25qxG97Can’t for the life of me get pictures to work from Flickr. I followed your recipe Sadexpunk and it came out great. Only thing I changed was added black sesame seeds and cooked for 40 mins.

I don’t play at all in the summer when life is busier with work (seasonal job) and more outdoors stuff to do but Lord of the rings shadow of war totally sucked me in since January I’ve put in 60 hours gameplay. I don’t like to play late at night but no kids so generally play a couple of hours after work before dinner.
