Thanks Damascus I’ll check those out. Definitely wasn’t a sci fi novel word numb but i did come across Decipher when i was Googling for possible novels and thought it looked worth a read.

As a gardener I’ve seen many a lawn ruined being left too long. Give it a go but it may not return to how it was it may always be rather tusucky and patchy forever as it tends to get very tough lower down when left long.

Pleased to have discovered the talents of Georgia on Fridays coverage. Turns out she’s one of Leftfields daughters. A one woman band and i have now downloaded some of her stuff and will look out for her live.

No but I’d like to. Waiting for straight couples to be able to be civil partnered and I’d be happy to just have 2 witnesses but will probably end up with a small do.

Oh dear. Seriously have a go at Henry sourdough no knead. I found it really simple for getting started. But don’t leave it out to come to room temperature before putting in the pot just straight from fridge to hot oven and tip it onto a baking parchment then lift that into the pot much easier. Or you could try his method but using the tin.

Wholegrain, seeded toast with organic butter, marmite, pb or cottage cheese. I try to avoid sugary spreads, pb and the cheese keep me full longest. One is high in fat and one protein. Does rye /proper wholemeal or sourdough still spike your blood sugar? I avoid shop white bread as on occasion when i have it I’m hungry an hour later.

Get the sthil hla 65 long reach battery hedge trimmer. I use it daily for pro use and it’s excellent. Really light and gives a good cut. Had mine over a year and it’s going strong.

To those asking what could possibly break a toilet. I was in a student house a long time ago and one of my friends put a banger down the loo and cracked the bowl. He fixed the bit that blew out with araldite after a quote from a plumber was more than he could afford and at the end of the tenancy the landlord never noticed and we got our deposit back. Hmmmm op your not in Bristol are you?!

Yeah watched it for an hour. Got a good shot of the sheet lightening making the sky look light daytime but black silhouette of houses and trees show it’s night.

I am cutting (trimming) lots of hedges at the mo and even had the council (Brighton) demanding a reduction of a slightly overhanging hedge of a property i look after. I was going to keep it trimmed rather than expose the side of it just now. Common sense is required not an outright ban on any hedge work. It’s a city and spaces can be tight so hedge work will be done throughout summer especially on evergreen hedges that shouldn’t be cut in winter. Yes check for nests and yes avoid reductions of very overgrown hedges until as late as possible. I also use battery hedge cutters so trimming the outside of well maintained hedge has less impact than the any of the frequent summer storms we get on the coast and is quieter than the road noise in many areas i work in.

Went to my nearest local once. Never again, shit beers, shit carpet and dodgy clientèle. Now have several awesome nominated locals about 30 minutes walk away with great selection of craft ales and ciders and nice food and atmosphere. Probably for the best they are not too nearby or would be quite poor by now.

Yes 50 50 and it will be very thick but once it’s active it will puff up in the jar. Are you removing half and discarding each day before adding fresh? Keeping it in a warm place loosely covered not air tight?

Not the best of dj’s imo but a great show man and knows how to get a crowd buzzing. Last saw him at the mental beach party and best gig was an unannounced appearance at a club night in Brighton in the early naughties where he suprised the crowd and everyone was just hyped on it as he was peak fame then.

I’d love to see some pics of these in action. Old labby, ex trail dog would love to get out with us again but not sure we’d get much use out of it on the hilly South downs.

Was pleased to find the England game on at the pub last night. Enjoyed watching France score an own goal and USA playing Thailand. USA seem streets ahead of any other team I’ve seen so far so we will need to up our game!

Weird just been feeling the same lately. Feel like I’m going through the motions with riding despite getting a dream bike last September. Life is good, want for nothing but i do suspect all the brexit and political and environmental turmoil may be getting to me. 38 so bit young for a mid life crisis? I do wonder if because life is sorted there are not the lows experienced in youth so without lows the highs are not as high it’s just a level.
Anyway not complaining as i feel extremely privileged and i accept that life has different phases it’s just nice to share with you lot feeling the same way and at least we’re not as miserable as Grimep must be judging by their replies to most threads.

I went to the England New Zealand game at the Amex last weekend. 20000 fans, amazing atmosphere and great to see loads of families enjoying the day. I was shocked to hear about the cosh put on women’s football when they were outstripping the attendance of men’s games in the 1920’s.

Interesting that this topic is coming up more and more these days. I’ve certainly reduced my meat a lot over the last 5 years. I’ve become more interested in what I eat in general and how it affects health and the environment. No idea what weight of meat I eat but I usually don’t have any meat at breakfast or lunch (maybe a bit of black pudding or bacon once a foutnight)

In an effort to reduce the lower welfare/quality meat I eat I avoid processed meat and meat in takeaway/ready meals so if I grab a sarnie or pizza from a supermarket I choose veggie.

In a week I probably have veggie or fish evening meal 4 to 5 times and usually save eating meat for the weekend and eating out I go for restaurants and pubs that serve high quality local meat so usually not massive portions.

Thinking what I’ve had this week so far it’s a packet of organic chicken pate and 2 mackerel fillets and tonight will be falafel, quinoa, roast veg and salad but pub tomorrow.

At a push I think I could go veggie but vegan would be really tough as I often substitute eggs/halumi to make a meal satifying to me and I love butter. Also I really believe that shopping local and ethical is the answer not importing more and more tropical ingredients such as coconut/avocado and consuming highly processed fake meat products.

Sounds pretty standard but I live in Brighton. Have paid 3.50 a half for some of the lovely new sour beers that are coming out now. They are to be sipped and appreciated rather than guzzled . Suits me as I’d rather drink less but really savour it.

Tendonitis? I had it in my right hand/arm. Had a raised bump along the top of my forearm just after the wrist. Rest, ice, ibuprofen. But mainly rest.

I’d say ask for the months notice. If they’ve been in the process of buying a house they must have known months ago. If it was the other way round and you sold the house and gave them a weeks notice I don’t think they’d be too happy. Obviously if you manage to rent it out at short notice reimburse them/don’t keep deposit.

I use paleoridge for my dog. Comes in compostable cartons. I know what you mean about the poos. So much less on raw!

Yes agree on all that. The last few weren’t particularly wild were they? Prefer the ones showing peoples homemade homes and how they survive off grid.

So I decided to actively try to make a loaf with big holes…the holey grail of sourdough 😂. Found a good page with a few tips.https://www.virtuousbread.com/bread-and-conversation/how-do-i-get-holes-in-my-artisan-bread/

As my starter is rye and I was trying for big holes I fed it with white this time to increase the gluten and made it without any wholemeal flour and left out the seeds. I was really gentle with my folding and shaping this time which I’d forgotten about previously. Got a very pleasing result.

That’s what I said. Not that impressed with the noise canceling but don’t know what to expect as never tried any others.
