Freaked me out as a kid and I still can’t watch supernatural horror though after reading this thread i might give it a watch and slay those demons!

Loving this thread as it’s made me realise my recent mortification at my mother’s washing up practices aren’t unusual. It’s obviously a chalk and cheese issue this! At home we have a large, single ceramic sink with double height precarious chrome dish drainer from IKEA and my preferred washing up method is inherited from my American step mother. I wash up with a spot of liquid on the sponge under a gently running tap, plug in and unless we’ve had guests round for a roast or something then the dishes will be scrubbed and rinsed by the time the sink is full. I’ve been living at my Mum’s the last 5 months though and they have a plastic bowl in their metal sink. It’s usually filthy and tea stained with discarded food left in plug hole under the bowl and when i look through their washing up i invariably end up rewashing half of it. Nothing is rinsed so everything has a layer of bubbles or grease left on it. I’ve given the bowl method a go whilst here and it takes a couple of bowls to get things clean plus rinsing the dishes off to the side and so I recon uses similar amount of water but actually end up wasting more water and detergent to clean the bowl and sink afterwards.

I should probably add to the multi generation thread to say ‘don’t do it! Unless you have separate kitchens’

Saw it at imax. Loved it. Never seen the other film or read the book but tempted to read it now.

I was there with Pauly for 4 months November to Feb. What a brilliant place. Not much to add but as a beginner surfer Mareta was definitely the friendliest beach and nicest for sunbathing/chilling. Beliche was hectic and a bit agro at times. Tonel could be crazy big a lot of the time with several rips and rocks but a stunning long beach to hang out. The fort is amazing. Walk all the way round the cliffs to see the swell smashing into the sea caves sending out plumbs of spray into the air.

Piv without heating element all day. Solved all our black mould and condensation issues. Slight coolness on landing. Heating wet air costs you more than heating dry air.

My sthil mower is awesome. Self propelled with 3 speeds, large box that hinges right open to empty easily. Takes up to 2 ap300 batteries but I’ve never used more than half of one battery. It’s pro kit though so expensive.

I feel fine about it personally. Doubled pfizered and healthy. Been to one very small festival, lot’s of pubs and restaurants and had a garden party for 20 recently. Off to London to the Globe Friday. Will do masks on crowded public transport but not keen on wearing in gigs or events as it takes away from the enjoyment and release. Full on packed nightclub would probably not be up for though that’s more about not being used to being in a crowd and getting too old for all that.

Ragwort and grounsel are closely related so makes sense they eat both. That was always my favourite caterpillar as a kid. You would see dozens of them on one plant.

Clear, sound leadership by example would however make a difference.

That would be nice. Meanwhile wishing for a super spreader event and for fully vaccinated people to get seriously ill is **** sick and smacks of someone with a chip on their shoulder.

Wow how pathetic. It’s almost as though you’re hoping that this pandemic isn’t going to end. Maybe instead of hoping it still makes fully vaccinated MPs ill you should hope that actually things are finally getting a lot less scary and people are ready to start getting back to normal.

No kids but i hardly drank in my 20’s much cheaper and more fun items that facilitated a night out clubbing than booze. When that lost it’s appeal and civilised evenings at the pub with a few friends became more of the weekend thing then drinking increased. Probably have 6 500ml bottles of cider a week and a glass of wine or so.

My world has just been shaken and I’m now not sure there’s any point in even trying anymore… Had a very eco conscious friend round to visit today who doesn’t drive, vegan, anti consumerism etc and after her visit to the loo I’ve found the plastic wrapper from a tampon floating in the toilet which means that the tampon has been flushed also. There’s not a bin currently in there but one just in the kitchen next door. I always used to think the people that flushed wet, wipes and blocked the sewers with tampons were thick or had no interest in the environment they live in but this is not the case with this friend so I’m just at a total loss now.

This is a bit scary. It’s a bit wordy and lots of science so could do with a bit of help understanding it please. From a virologist who has worked on vaccine development but thinks vaccinating during high levels of circulating virus is a bad idea and is leading to younger people being more ill than if they hadn’t been vaccinated(if I’ve read this correctly)

I’ve got corgettes coming out my ears. I’ve done every possible recipe involving corgettes and still have more to use up. Luckily I do love courgettes when picked small.

Omg.. I can see that being me doing something like that in the next few years. My lab who’s 12 has done so many adventures with us and she lives for the next outing with her pack. We did the long way up Pen y Fan with her for my 40th birthday in May and it was wonderful. She had a great time paddling in the lake on the way back down.

Home town! just back from the pub that used to be an old fav The Eagle. Opposite another old fav the Basket makers (proper traditional pub) . It’s really the best bit of town to hang out in i think. Away from the Seafront nobbers, still tourist friendly but locals too. The Eagle has had a make over since i was last in and has got an amazing Thai kitchen doing the food now. Bit different from the usual thai menu and they don’t take bookings so you can be spontaneous and should be able to get in no problem.

It’s hard to keep up with all the new restaurants coming and going but I’m going to have a go this summer! On my list to try is The Shelter hall and KUJIRA (Japanese which has got some amazing reviews)

Preston Park is a nice place to hang out and people watch on a nice summer’s evening.

Aww…gorgeous. My black lab is 12 now. Best dog in the world i honestly love her more every day and she’s still full of life and loves people and going on adventures with us despite arthritis slowing her down. Keep him lean and feed him great quality food for a long, happy life 😊

Yes been watching all week. Best Wimbledon i can remember. Nice to have had a few Brits to follow. The Raducanu match was awesome and the finish had us screaming so much we scared the dog.

Thanks. Missed it first time round. I find it all very evocative and interesting and spent the 1st lockdown cycling to as many hillforts, stones and barrows as possible along The Ridgeway. A place you can sit and take yourself back in time.

My lab gets cbd oil, joint tablets off amazon with glucosamine, condrotin, turmeric and boswelia and regular massages from us. She started to get bad aged about 9 to the point she was yelping and jumping up from her bed. She’s nearly 12 now and although she walks a bit funny and clearly gets stiff she doesn’t seem to be in pain and does occasional 7 or 8 mile walks. No ball throwing any more as it’s too jaring when she hurls herself at the ball and we are careful not to let her jump down from anything too high. She also has a memory foam mattress.

Very sad how many people have lost touch completely with nature. As a gardener I come across things like this alot. Can’t have leaves landing in my property from a neighbouring tree or anything growing over from next door even if it’s something beautiful with flowers it’s seen as an invader and must be hacked back.

I’ll make the point again that most restrictions are lifting in a couple of weeks.

Yes but some (Kelvin) are arguing that restrictions should last longer and airvent disagrees with that*. Do keep up.

*so do i as it happens

Stevie get an eu passport in Ireland and make sure all entries for rabies are by an eu vet not uk or it will be invalidated. Obviously you’ll have to follow the health cert rules to get over there the 1st time. I spend lots of time in Portugal and Spain and take the dog each time so we got her a Portuguese passport when there last. Vet transferred her rabies jab details but some may insist on doing a new jab.

No idea about NI rules but if you plan on travelling with pet much it’s worth switching them to a euro passport to avoid having to shell out over £100 for a health cert each time. You’ll just have to get the rabies done by a euro vet each time it’s due.

Binge watched Sweet tooth this week. Started good but i did rather lose interest half way through. Imagine kids would love it though. Have just started Anne with an E..feature length 1st episode and just what I wanted on a rainy, tired Friday, heart strings pulled, escapism and what an engaging young woman and beautiful scenery. I am also several episodes into Halston, Ewan McGregor is very good and it’s a fun sometimes dark foray into a world of fashion, drugs and gay sex in the 70’s/80’s.

I would slowly build up your gut microbiome by consuming a variety of fermented foods. A local independent health food shop will have much better products than the supermarket stuff that is often pasteurised after fermenting for shelf life. Kimchi, sauerkraut, kefir, kombucha, miso and as much fruit, veg and whole grains/nuts as possible. Small amounts of each to start. I’m a strong believer in diet having a huge impact on health.

I’m collecting a pro level sthil one soon. The batteries work throughout all the stihl range which i have already so it makes sense for me but I’ve been holding off as the mowers weren’t quite up to scratch but I’m hearing good things now. Not cheap but will last and no maintenance costs. The batteries will be fine to be left for the winter months as long as charged up and kept at ambient temperature.
