This clip is taken in a car at the bottom of my street earlier today.  I am not involved with any of the vehicles!

But I would buy the bus driver a pint :)

Now if it had been more like that, Frank, I might have stayed up, but it’s taken another nosedive. I’m off to bed. Will call catch up tomorrow evening maybe – probably on fast forward!

Watching the BBC4 version, no idea if it’s the same as what was under discussion earlier on, but 20 mins in, its been wall to wall shit. Kicking off with Elton J – wtf?  Only decent act has been steppenwolf. Can’t handle any more – saved for later, but not holding out much hope

Edit: just picked up as was about to turn off with Bowie

Neighbour told me years ago their new son was called Homer.  I thought that was rather bizarre, they are Asian, but hey ho, I called him Homer for about 12 years until one day he turned round to me and said “My name is Omar”.  That was a bit embarrassing….

Are hub rubbers the little loops (eg hairbands) people loop round their hubs to stop grime build up?  They polish lightly as wheel rotates

It’s not just the dogs health, insurance covers costs incurred as a result of your dog by other parties. So if he startles a rider on a horse, runs in front of a car or something else that causes an accident, you are liable.

Yes, it’s fatal. Can’t believe no one has mentioned electrics. Mine was the most beautiful car I ever had (166) but the electrics…  got to the stage front windows went down and wouldn’t go up, nothing worked, until I figured out if I folded in the electronic mirrors, I could get them up. Car parks were interesting in the rain!

Thanks canny1 and chestrockwell for the reminder about the party.  I have a hazy recollection of it now you mention it :)

I quite like Alex, and I want to see Vadim get what he deserves, but in true series style the makers will milk it with them both bloodied but still standing at the end of this series, ready to pick up the gloves again in the next one, should they decide to go that route.

One thing that I didn’t follow was at the end of Episode 5 when Vadim came up to Alex Godman in Tel Aviv airport and they both seemed to have met before, but I can’t ever remember them meeting anywhere or at any time up to that point.  Anyone enlighten me?  Maybe it was during one of my microsleeps that seem to afflict Sunday evenings

    Thanks for the feedback all!

My thoughts were that there are much worse ways to spend a very wet Sunday morning.  No chance of me doing 3 laps in an hour though, Iain under the circumstances!  I got 3 laps done in a bit under 90 minutes.

It is a pretty weatherproof course, with the odd feature linked by not very exciting track, rather than a non-stop thrill ride, but then it wasn’t designed with that in mind and its a good work out.  I thought the wooded sections in the second half more interesting than the first part.

Dog walkers were out in force, despite constant torrential rain and wind, but most were on the adjoining walking paths rather than the trails, and those that were on the trails hopped off pretty sharply and were pleasant enough.  They certainly outnumbered people on bikes!  On the ride there, over my 3 laps and then ride back to base, I saw one guy on a bike over a 3 hour period….

Oh, and a minor highlight was getting chased by 3 dogs on separate occasions, but they were all good natured.

I will go back when I’m staying through there on future occasions

Having just gone through this with my FiL dying suddenly and unexpectedly, I had no idea of the range and scope of things that had to be addressed.  Even things like MiL’s car had been bought in his name – ownership has to be formally transferred before she could sell it.  Also insurance documents in his name (house, car etc) are not valid until transferred to her.  There was a lot more to do besides the obvious stuff like banking, credit cards, pensions, shares etc, and all of this required locating the correct documents before working through the processes.  Wife and I both have wills but it made us think about the need to have all papers properly organised and accessible for whoever is going to have to sort it all out one day

After 2 pairs of glasses that I couldn’t see out of and felt exactly as you describe, the 2nd optician checked my prescription and discovered my astigmatism was written in such awful writing that the lens were 180 degrees out. He then confided it was his wife who had done the first test and it was her writing to blame
Once fixed they were fine. Worth getting checked!

also in case there was any doubt, it’s only fit for the bin. The inside of the tubes is likely to be even worse since the digestion there would have started immediately (these areas not being protected by paint initially the way the outside was) so front triangle gubbed too I would say

my thought was caustic had been used – the opposite of acid, but actually, more effective at removing paint so I wouldn’t be surprised it was used. Was the process described as chemical dipping and you assumed acid, or was it described as acid stripping? That would affect the validity of any claim.

Also, if it was caustic used, the guys should have known this was a no-no for an aluminium frame, but maybe they didn’t know and thought it was steel?

A few things that struck me:

    – How many people didn’t wear seat belts
    – How little side protection some cars had
    – how much crap people had in their cars! The amount of stuff that comes flying out of the windows in some crashes makes you think they must be knee deep in rubbish

Jambalaya, and with it being a urine sample, the converse is also true – if you do not drink enough the concentration goes up. Urine concentrations of drugs don’t mean much beyond they are there. Think how much your own urine can vary from almost water to looking like stewed tea. The concentrations of anything in it vary massively unless they are corrected for some kind of markers that is consistently present, usually creatinine, – no evidence of that being quoted here that I have seen.

For any Velocity wheelset owners out there, I raised a query via their website and Sam at Singular who had supplied the wheels also dropped them a lot before. Velocity came back to me within a few hours with offer to send replacement pawls :-) Hopefully be rolling again soon! Great service from Singular and Velocity

We have used this place just outside Newton Stewart several times and always had a great time. Kirroughtree is close by and there is other good riding and walking in the area. Nice hotel at Creebridge 5 mins walk away and the owners will lock up your bikes in their storage area. Also pet friendly and you can take your dog if you have one.
