Raises hand slowly, lowers head and runs for cover.

Don’t get me wrong, always have a nice Christmas Day – it’s all the hype, build up and expectations (not mine!) that bugs me.

One of my Lumenator Batteries was playing up. I was going to buy another, but Mark asked me to send him the old one back, fixed it and sent me it back. Wouldn’t take payment. He’s a top man!

Cool. Further backup running for latest files, then I’ll do health check. I have a vista system disc for wife’s laptop. Different manufacturer (Dell vs HP) but from what’s been said, looks like this should do the job. Thanks all.

Well, it’s working again after opening it up and pushing everything to make sure all connections secure and sitting properly. :D. Does that mean Its DEFINITELY not broken, or could it still be on its way out?

Lots of stuff on the disk l need, but I have a full back-up, thank goodness!

Badnewz – kind of, but I’m not trying to win a war – it’s more about give and take. Quite happy to end up with a draw!

I’m sure I know what soem of these are – but I cannot get them accepted – for example especially sure I know what film the yellow hydrant and eye look like they would be from (I hated the lead character…)

I got a lot of the ones that many seem stuck with, but conversely there are some that I’m sure muct be easy I just cannot get!!!

    the black helicopters
    Childrens ghost/white snowman thing
    the chimneys/boots on the roof,
    the gold pocket watch
    the red and blue pills
and the yellow firehydrant with the Minion eye/goggles on it….

Which is 6, but I have already got 61! :?

OK, last Q. I found another one that fits the bill. Asus X555LA from PC world:
    http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/asus-x555la-15-6-laptop-black-10135223-pdt.html

Differetn CPU (Intel i5 vs AMD10 in Lenovo)from the Lenovo I was looking at in John Lewis

Anyone got an opinion about Asus vs Lenovo?

Some I’m sure are right but they’re not being accepted. For instance the red face on the wall

Thanks, Molgrips, but by the time I add on the peripherals I would need the budget is stretching too far.

Digging around, the Lenovo Z50 from John Lewis seems to tick all the boxes:

    http://www.johnlewis.com/lenovo-z50-laptop-amd-a10-8gb-ram-1tb-15-6-/p2107441?colour=Black

Seems to be a few different versions with different CPUs in them, but the one I’m looking has an Quad-core AMD A10-7300, which I know is pretty basic – but its not the laptop equivalent of a BSO – is it?

Any opinions on this deal gratefully received!

Thought about that and will try and go into town and have a look tomorrow. Any thoughts on brands to favour or avoid? In past I have had ell and HP, but no idea if they are still in the running or if other brands are better VFM

Does your foot pass through the engine exhaust when you mount like that? 8O

Also watch how you build up speed. A lot of road bikes build up an oscillation at certain speeds on certain surfaces because of the harder tyres and buildup of surface vibrations. Less of a problem with mtb because the softer tyre acts as a damper. Google shimmy or speed wobble!

Otherwise -awesome and looking forwards to more!

Exactly the same thing happened to my Elixirs last night, Kenny. Weird thing is, this morning they were ok again.

Before posting I was going to check the SRAM website as I anticipated a hail of ‘Bin. Buy Shimano. Thank me’ posts if I asked the question here…. :x

Hey FLRB, I had similar problems with the first chainset I planned to use (SRAMX9 on 2×10). Same issue with Knards and Chronicles. Switched to an old 2×10 SLX and bash and same problem. Pondered 1×10 with extender cog but with the hills round me just didn’t seem viable so opted for a new 2×10 SLX which with Knards is fine in all gears on big ring and fine in all except largest rear cog in small ring when it buzzes the tyre. Rotating the BB backwards so the crank axle was at 9 o’clock helped.
I can get by with this and think I may get all gears with Chronicle fitted as at a glance when I tried them both a while back the Chronicle was a wee bit smaller.
Thought about edging BB out a few mm, but that seemed like an unattractive solution. I’ve never used the smallest cog at the back so I’m thinking about using that as a spacer behind the big cop on the cassette to step all the gears over one if I get to the stage where I really need that bottom gear. Not sure if this would work and doesn’t sound like it would solve your problem completely – maybe 2×11 is just a cog too far…

NM – that’s odd, I have always found Sam really responsive. Are your calls and emails all recent or over an extended period? Maybe he was just out of office last week. Anyway he keeps an eye on these threads so I would expect he will get in touch with you directly after your post.

It will be the front chain ring. I had this recently when I borrowed a newer chain from another bike. It feels like its slipping on the cassette, but its slipping at the front. Same reason as new chain will slip on old cassette, just the front chainring is more tolerant of wear

Got it! It’s treating the entries as hours and minutes and expressing them as decimal days

    myopic
    Free Member

Actually even that logic doesn’t work for 1:10

    myopic
    Free Member

Ok, so 1:10 might be seen as 1 min 10 seconds and that is getting expressed as a decimal of 1 hour, but….
How does this work for 1:100? It can’t be 1 min 100 secs because that would be 2 mins 40 secs

If you are canvassing for areas that would be of interest, I would be interested in Pentlands and sure three would be many more. Though there are a few ridges of hills that would lend themselves to the format you showed, to do it justice you would need a more square area. Will watch with interest

2 perfect sets for me. One Mavic 317 Rims on shimano XT hubs (4-5 years old) and the other set Mavic 719 on Hope hubs (5-6 years old). Both sets still running sweet and true several sets of bearings later. Not had any wheels off them since then, but always found their customer service to be great.

Has no-one else noticed that the lower receipted value may then appear in the shop’s takings, thereby reducing their ‘declared’ sales for Vat and taxable profits to HMRC? Do that a few times a year on carefully selected sales and it’ll add up to a tidy sum.

Would probably need to pay in cash for the shop to easily pull it off though otherwise their books wouldn’t balance too well would they?

I would expect that the shop will produce another receipt that covers the balance so their books tally. If you don’t want it, it’s binned so you effectively only have a receipt for a portion of what you bought.

It happened to me once. I had to laugh and told my wife who was with me, giving her the chance to explain that she knew exactly how much it was – she was buying it for me as a present :)
