Thanks guys. Just bought some 2017 Rockshox TK30 silver forks. Appreciate they’re ‘budget’ but will only be used for light trails, bridle paths and commuting. Got a better bike for the rough stuff. Also has v brake bosses so will take my old man mountain front rack.

Sounds daft but have you tried riding it? Your body weight and a few bumps may be enough to break the bond between the carbon and the alu frame. Better than applying strong twisting forces from the off.

II use a Topeak M2 but for your 29er perhaps this xc11 as it uses the same bracket that fits my reverb?

Led technology is moving so fast I’d be reluctant to spend more than £25 on the latest cree led light sets. Within months a better led is released. Each to their own of course but I’ve given up on expensive lights. Got 3 maglites in the garage produce a pathetic light compared to the kids’ £2 dealextreme torches. Not as good for hitting burglars but lumen output far superior.

In my opinion the best multi tool available is the Victorinox swiss tool. Don’t discount SOG too. They also make exceptionally good multi tools. Have a look on the Heinnes website for more info.

I’ve just had to write off a specialized sirrus with a broken frame. I’ve a dawes edge comp ht with 80mm travel forks and a steel saracen set up as a pub/commuter bike fitted with some hardrock rigid forks, mudguards and racks.

They are taking up too much space. I’ve also got a decent road bike, ti hardtail and a folder so need to downsize.

Alistair, would be interested in a used Marin but no idea how to pm or email members. Thanks for everyone for their suggestions. Might get a second bike past the wife after all.

I think I’m having a case of buyers remorse. Bought a Genesis Latitude Ti a little while back. I love it but a few trips to Llandegla makes me wonder whether I should have gone full supension. A cheapo full suspension would probably not be the way to go despite my restricted budget.

Bought a Hayter Harrier about 12 years ago. Still runs well with Briggs and Stratton engine. However prefer my late father’s Honda which runs beautifully and isnt rusty like the B&S engine. Dont skimp on budget and you’ll get 25 years out of a Honda.

Just bought a Genesis Latitude XT in titanium. Absolutely love it. Always been happy with 26 and not read anything yet that convinces me to change.
