If you claim direct from the third party insurer they have no rights to your vehicle, therefore you can retain the vehicle.
If the vehicle is roadworthy there is no need to total loss it (& the TPI place it on the MIAFTR register)so you should be able to agree a cash settlement.
A cash settlement being the net repair cost or the PAV less a salvage deduction.

Having done the Rangers path I’d suggest up & down the Llanberis, unless you are very skilled on some of the Rangers path you may end up pushing your bike down aswell as up.

    Easyjet’s first response …

    31st July 2012

    Thank you for contacting us.

I am sorry to learn that you have received your bike after 2 days and due to this you missed your 2 days of cycling.

I have forwarded your compensation request to our ‘Baggage Claims Department’. They will contact you within 7 working days.

Your patience will be highly appreciated.

Since them their reponse has been two fingers, they suggest I claim from travel insurance but I don’t expect to claim on any insurance policy as it seems unreasonable to ask the insurance to indemnify against Easyjet overbooking of sports equiment (bikes) onto a flight.

I have paid for service which they have failed to deliver.

The neck is designed to be very flexible in many directions but the one that virtually always has terrible consequences is the direct from above impact. A neck brace will do sod all for that.

Surely the difference being you are not seat belted in a 2 tonne box, the impact marks on top of my helmet & the direction of travel makes me think the impact was from above.

I’m more concerned that they make people think they can’t get hurt, and then ride beyond their capabilities. This is what causes big injuries.

The year before I made the the same gap.

I have crashed (came up short last year in Chatel) while wearing a Leatt & I believe it ‘saved my neck’

This was the carbon lid bottom edge where it impacted onto the brace.

If the stolen car was insured (& you have the reg number) you can claim of that policy & don’t even have to involve your insurer.

The arch is defo double skined,
used a hammer & dolly to get the edge straight,
    fill & paint.

You will have to go into the ‘door shut’ which means it difficult to paint it all at the same time.

    Good luck.

You are normally insured for market value so look on the trader, etc for market examples.
You will not be insured for Glasses Guide values.
If you claim directly from the third party insurer you can have it repaired up to market value as they have no rights to the salvage.

Location. If i lived in Whistler, i’d prob ride DH all the time. I don’t, so i ride a bike that goes up and down hills. Anyone who calls themselves ‘a downhiller’ and lives in the UK is missing out on 95% of available riding time.

Or has more than 1 bike

I think my neck brace saved me from breaking my neck when I nose dived Chatel Road gap. I wear it without it bothering me & would recommend the Leatt one.

Sad if its gone for good.

I started with a 2007 Bighit frame as my first dh build, it was very good but a 06 – 09 Giant Glory full bike @ about $1200 would be my first choice.
