Not sure if this is too late for you – but I was in Shoreditch at the weekend and discovered The Bike Shed[/url]. It’s brill – excellent food and full of friendly bikers who let my 6 year-old daughter have her photo taken on various Harleys etc (I appreciate your daughter may be a little old for that of course :) Highly recommended.

I had exactly the same issue on my S7 Edge. Stopped using Chrome (without uninstalling it) and now use the Samsung browser instead – seems to have done the trick.

100 Hoxton is ace. Rough around the edges and you order a set of dishes like a tapas bar – food comes when in whatever order it’s ready. Unpretentious and reasonable prices. We always go when we’re down dat London.

Did my back in trying on a pair of walking boots in Decathlon the day before I went on holiday. Could barely move for a week.

Pulp Fiction isn’t on Netflix any more (I know cos I fancied watching it the other night).

Also Devil’s Elbow is better than Piper Lane for the Blacka descent in my opinion ie. when you’re following the bridleway parallel to Hathersage Rd, ignore the right-hand turn on your route and go straight on through a gate to follow that bridleway instead. Eventually you take a sharp right downhill and follow that until you get to a wooden bridge at the bottom (all marked on your route with the green lines). That links back up to your route. It’s rooty, rocky and steep – one of the best descents in the Peak I reckon.

I’d avoid the track that goes behind Bolehill Lodge (end of Moss Rd – it’s labelled if you zoom right in) as it’s really overgrown this time of year. There’s a left fork (easily missed in the heather) not long after you pass the cairn at the top of Bole Hill, which is more rideable but drops quite steeply at one point. It brings you out onto the same bridleway that leads up to Lenny Hill. Ride with consideration, as I think it falls into the category of cheeky but tolerated as long as you’re not being a dick.

So the message is that when you get overtaken by a truck before it turns left you should hang back?

    Well I would.

Spartacus by The Farm. Bought it on the day of release, gave it away the following day.

I’ve got some Humvees which are ideal for the 5 mile commute in winter. Not sure I’d use them for MTB unless it was absolutely perishing though – they can make my legs pretty warm (which I realise is the idea, but they might be a bit much :-) )

Edit: In answer to your question, they’re always going to look like cycling trousers. The velcro cuff can be loosened off so they’re not tight round the ankle, but they’re definitely still tapered in appearance!

Yeah I had a look at that earlier, and it appears it’s no cheaper to buy a return than 2 singles. Thanks for confirming – just wanted to check I hadn’t missed anything.

I’ve been using Smorgasbord Enduro/Trail Extreme combination for last couple of years and they’re excellent.

Thanks b r but I want to avoid the road between Fairholmes and the A57 (I assume that’s what you were suggesting we use…?).

Thanks. If we went right over the top via Slippery Stones, how rough are the offroad tracks around Slippery Stones and the packhorse bridge?

I did it a few years ago; trudged up the tourist route which was a bit of a dull grind, but then came down via the Carn Mor Dearg arete – which was spectacular (although probably not suitable for kids as it’s quite exposed in places).

    What – like roads?

You obviously haven’t seen the state of Sheffield’s roads.

I also use the hook on tyre levers to deflate tubes that have a Schrader valve (yeah yeah I’m still using tubes).

Sheffield is ace. I moved here 5 years ago – best decision I ever made (mind you, I did live in Donny before that :D ).

Dore, SW Sheffield is the place. 5 miles from city centre with good links, including rail, and right on the edge of the Peak District. Small centre with shops, pubs and an Indian restaurant.

The biking is ace too. And yes, I do live there ?

From bottom of Devil’s Elbow, turn left onto the main bridleway and then take the bridleway on the right that crosses the stream (where the stepping stones are). Follow that up through the gate. You’ll get to a couple of benches. Keep going up and you’ll eventually get to Stony Ridge car park and the edge of the plantation.

EDIT: I think that might be the way you’re already going when I reread your message. It’s certainly the most rideable way to get back up to the car park.

I have an Evoc Enduro 16L with back protector. I went over the bars and landed flat on my back at Whinlatter last year. Obviously I can’t know if I would have been OK with another pack, but I’m glad I was wearing the Evoc.

Lady Canning’s trail is closed for repairs for next 2-3 weeks. There’s some good (albeit muddy at this time of year) off-piste stuff to still have fun on if you know how to find it.

    Then choose the other door.
