the front on my 17″ only lifts on very steep chilterns stuff, with a 70mm stem, saddle set in the middle and 711mm bars.

stick at it, you’ll know when you get it right. they climb like crazy once you get it set up right 😀

i am on frame number 3, the first two were from the “crap seatpost reaming and welding” first issue. the current one has a much better paint finish, much thicker and hasn’t chipped anywhere yet despite my best efforts. the welding looks different too so maybe they are using a different factory? anyway, has been bombproof so far.

get one, they are ace bikes 🙂

have some myself. not bad, lenses are ok and don’t mist up too bad. but at 13 quid they’re a bargain

    me. 17″ greenie

not really that xc, huuuuuuuuge fun to ride. descends brilliantly but also climbs really well, which was a surprise. 130mm revs, 23″ toptube, 60mm stem and 711mm bars. and its wierdly quiet to ride because of all the cunning little bolt on hose guides

when it isn’t being warranty replaced it is fantastic fun. hopefully frame 3 will last more than 8 weeks

get one, warranty issues aside they are huge fun to ride if you give it some stick

thanks raymond, i had seen that before but comes out very well

is the lack of AEL/AFL an issue? i use it quite a bit on my mju810 compact but that’s only because it is pretty basic in every other respect

despite having had my 16″ piglet frame recalled by CRC for a manufacturing fault it is a brilliant bike. frame now replaced, but only after refund from CRC and buying one from elsewhere.

the CRC warranty process was deeply frustrating and communication with them had a delay of about a week, don’t think they are based on jupiter 🙁

but as for my piglet, i love it

@yetiman, tube was too big internally and the post kept slipping. i think this is a problem with all of the first load of piglets. had to have the qr as tight as it would go and it still slipped.

real shame as it is a fantastic bike and i am relegated to the full suss til august 😕

sadly on recall due to dodgy seat tube sizing, won’t be back until mid august 🙁

but for the six week i had it was a fantastic bike

was doing it on mine until i greased the threads on the bb cups. now totally silent

although i did have to strip the whole swingarm off and regrease everything until in desperation i tried the bb as a last resort 😕

i have an LX hollowtech II chainset on mine, standard Shimano BB, set at 73mm and works fine.

Just make sure you get the spacers the right side round, unlike my first attempt 🙂

    piglet

took mine round gisburn forest on saturday, was brilliant. too much of a poof to ride the scary stuff but for the rest of it it was ace.

the front isn’t weightless; although that makes it feel much more stable than the rock lobster 853 i had before. longer top tube, seat angle etc all helps too

first ride this morning and have to say this is a bloody brilliant bike

i’m 5.11 but with a long back, or short legs according to the wife. got a 16″ frame and it fits like a glove. nicely stretched out, slackish head angle so feels very stable downhill, which i thought it would, but it also climbs like crazy.

front end is nice and stiff, thanks to the gusset. loads of mud room, at the back. feels pretty comfy too. with the steeper seat angle feels like i’m sitting in the bike, right in the middle, very confidence inspiring.

its really flickable and just downright FUN to ride. was making motorbike noises in my head the whole way round, braaap 🙂

if you’re even remotely tempted just buy one. superb

    spec is unremarkable but works:

RockShox Revelation 426 forks at 130mm
    LX gears
    XT 180/160mm discs
    Easton Vice 711mm bar
    Easton 75mm stem
    Ragley Spike seatpost
    SDG Bel Air Ti saddle
    v12 knock offs
    Kenda Nevegals 2.35 and 2.1

and these cable/hose guide thingies are fantastic, makes for a really neat build, and quiet too, no cables slapping around

piglet will have his headset fitted tomorrow, then built up ready for my burfdy on thursday.

nothing flash, all donor parts from the retiring rock lobster

lx and slx drivetrain, xt 160/180 brakes, revelation 426s at 130mm, ragley seatpost, sdg saddle, easton 75mm stem and 710mm bars, v12s, some wheels of some kind and kenda nevegals

liking it so far tho, frame detailing is good and impressed by the bolt on hose guides, very neat idea. gonna be tricky deciding where to put all the stickers 🙂

oh and if you were wondering how green golden delicious green is? very. kermit the frog green. really nice

alcohol permitting there will be a full report next thursday pm

and more pics as i build it up if i remember
