    Yep loving that Spesh GeeTee, lovely looking bike there.

    Since the hack there’s no real way of telling who’s been on here how long though, is there? Obviously some names are familiar and recognisable but others don’t mean much. Not being a troll here but can’t ever remember Wally before now. Would i buy from you? Probably. You probably don’t recognise my user name.

    Only time I’ve been let down is by a regular who leapt on the chance of some free giveaways but never even acknowledged he’d received them or gave any thanks. He was then pulled up by someone else for the same thing and for trying to sell crappy old tops and tee shirts for profit, don’t see his name much on new classified although I’m sure he still uses them.

    Just goes to show, doesn’t matter how long folk have been on here, there’ll always be piss-takers…

    That first one is Nikki Sanderson ex of corrie now on Heartbeat or that other sixties based Nostalgia fest on ITV’s on Sundays.

    That looks like the kind of thing I’m after, Mamadirt. Where did you get it? Do you know if they’re still available? Out of interest what size are those Dropoffs on your bike?

    That is a result of me typing in a rush before heading out earlier. Meant V-brake only. Sorry for confusion. And it’s horizontal{trackend} dropouts.

    Ok 27.2mm it is thank you.

    Mmm, could be be track ends then, "nasty bodge" sounds a bit risky. Think I’ll leave it with V brakes then.

    No thanks Tiboy!

    Capn – if that wee sprat Ecclestone wants to make some sort of ironic number-plate based statement about Shakespeare/his own initials THE LEAST he could do would be to have them parked the right way round.

    "Not to be or to be, that is the question"

    Doesn’t work Ecclestone, get a flunky to move them round!

    Aye but it’s not a big lift assisted ghey-fest covering 80km either is it? There’s that daft start to begin with, people barging each other out the way to get to the icy slush first. The only barging or rough behaviour on the Passportes you’ll see is at the food stations.

    It might not be the gnarl-fest some make it out to be but the two don’t really compare in my mind. I saw a gut on a commuter with pannier rack doing the Passporte last year FFS, not sure he’d have got down the Mega track…

    Fred’s back then. Sorry if this has been pointed out before mate, but glad your back on here. {It was your silly childish nicknames for football teams you don’t like that sealed the deal. The Prince Harry thing early pricked my ears up}

    Going in June so shouldn’t be too busy, I understand English school holidays don’t start till a bit later? What’s the public transport links like? No bikes on this trip and wondering if bus and trains will allow us to get around and see more than just wherever we choose to stay?

    So Gav, your bit of Cornwall isn’t as touristy as Newquay or it’s overspills, yet you still can’t get parked at the beach unless you go before 9am becaause of tourists? Mmm

    Somwhere in East Lothian? North Berwick for example. With excellent rail links to Edinburgh,obviously loads of Historic Scotland sites to visit there.

    Tantallon castle down the road is an amazing ruin to visit, right on cliffs overlooking the sea. Loads of nice beaches if you’re lucky with the weather{i.e no freezing North Easterly winds}

    Well I had an 08 5.5 here’s my thoughts; Not the lightest as pointed out and the paintwork was of a disappointing quality, the back end did seem flexy at rest, I eventually cracked it.

    BUT it really was a great bike! The contact system suspension is truly excellent for tracking round corners without having to scrub speed, the bike just made you go faster downhill. Despite weight issue it was by no means a slouch on the climbs and propedal on the RP23 masde things a bit easier. But probably because of hammering it so much I ended up with small crack at head/top/down weld. I decided a bigger bike was in order and had no bother getting an 08 666 as a warranty replacement. And I **** love it.

    Don’t think you’d be disappointed with a 5.5, they are excellent, fun, enagaging bikes. Even if they are too “Trail Centre-ish” for some of the bike snobs on here?

    Btw no real comparison to a Zesty, tried one of them of my mates for couple of weeks and this seemed altogether more lighweight, racery type. Descent handling especially was decidely twitchy compared to the 5.5. IMO of course!

    Cannae believe you’ve allowed HIM to con you into arguing about this{yet again}.

    I know people must be a wee bit run down after the excesses of the Festive Period AND the trauma of the hack, but an obvious ploy like this which even has “troll” in the Tags, come on people…

    I have had mixed experiences with them. Ordered tyres in a hurry for Alps last summer, came straight away at a good price. Then ordered a rear mech which took an eternity to arrive after showing no record of me ordering it in my account! I, had by this time, bought another elsewhere thinking I mustn’t have pressed “confirm” at the end of the process.

    So bit unsure whether to use them again or recommend them to you!?
