    You sure? So having forced Hitler to leave us alone and invade Russia instead after the Battle of Britain didn’t happen then? Perhaps you really believe the commonly potrayed view of Holywood WW2 then?

    Point taken. It was Uncle Joe who really won WWII by throwing literally millions of comrades to their deaths thus tying up all the best German units. Still no real reason us in GB to mock. Not denying the valiant efforts of The Battle Of Britain but what about Dunkirk/Singapore anyone?

    With reference to the Surrender Monkey jokes above, on QI the other night Stephen Fry{no less} quoted some statistical Academic study that showed France had won more conflicts than any other nation.

    So why do those otherwise entertaining chaps on Top Gear bang on about the myth of the French running away all the time, which leads to little Englanders on here doing the same?

    Can we not please get on with our lives rather than constantly referring back to the two world wars? {During both of which GREAT Britain didn’t exactly do that well until Uncle Sam jumped in}

    But WHAT is it they’re supposed to do Jimmy? The vague claims on adverts don’t really tell you what it is they’re meant to do except give a healthy gut…

    Don’t think the whole lift system will still be running in September though, sure it begins closing again the last week of August.

    Great riding though! Bike park in Chatel was ace fun.

    BTW I lost a pair of Spesh Chicane Adaptalite glasses there last year. If you see them gives a shout on here when you get back, cheers.

    How do you get in and out that room with the sofa in the way of the door? Fire Safety leaves a lot to be desired, round the Nutt household…

    Loads of folk do this when we’ve got the sirens on, actually annoys me when I see them do it. As if we’re inconveniencing people by making a loud noise whilst traveling to the aid of others.

    Then I remember it’s obviously it’s not as loud when your inside the vehicle with the siren on.*

    *provided all windows are fully up whilst sirens are being sounded {as per Health and Safety Memo circa 2003}

    Email them at the BBC, see if they can sort you a copy.

    It might cost you though.

    ‘How much?’, I hear you ask…

    Ho ho; five pounds!

    Is this the man who argued long and hard against the TV Licence Fee?

    BIGGITY BIGGITY BONG So it is, in a Jim from Corrie NornIrish accent.

    I’m finding there’s more of these “I’m considerably more STW than yow” posts after the hack. People seem to be desperate to show how long they were here before? Dinnae get it?

    Not read the classified ding dong, but another “piss off back to BikeRadar” thread smacks me of snobbery.

    They’re not as blatant as those though are they? For instance, they’re that small you ned to be quite close to read them and that’s assuming the riders’ legs aren’t in the way? I’m sure they’re are loads of folk on here who’ve got them. Just want to get an idea of which font to go for?

    Boy from work picked up an ex-hire Genesis Altitude 20 for £550{i think} from Hub at Glentress. Lovely looking steel frame, decent spec, excellent condition – RRP £1200.

    ARGGH! I’ve been there twice the first time I had Spesh Enduro pro 2.25s the second it was Maxxis Hi roller 2.35{42a on front 60 on back} I hope you can draw your own conclusions from this and other information posted by others.

    Do post up whatever tyres you decide to go with and let us know how well they perform in the conditions you encounter? You see? Even typing that I was aware of how much of a kinob I’m sounding.

    Seriously any of the tyres you mentioned will be fine. Enjoy your trip it’s brilliant fun{especially if you’ve removed the doubt about tyre choice beforehand}

    No

    That might be the case so just fit another that you know you like and trust and that will be fine. Honestly.

    If it’s that big rock slab your worried about sv, it’s as grippy as **** so any of those tyres you mentioned will be fine.

    Do you honestly think this will make that much difference to you time spent at this trail centre, that a)you need to seriously consider changing tyres round and b) posting on here for advice?

    Am I the only “part-timer” on here who puts on a set of tyres and leaves them until they’re worn out? I don’t race so just accept different conditions as part and parcel.

    No need! As Mark and Lard used to say.

    I signed up for a Facebook group in connection with these events and just got this message through –

    “Subject: Entries Kielder.

    Entries are on line at http://www.avalanchecup.com
    Click on Inscriptions and you will be re directed to an on line entry system.
    The event runs for 3 days with open practice on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.
    There is a “Prolog” stage on Saturday afternoon, this is a seeding run to give your start order for Sunday, This stage time will also be added to your stage times from Sunday.
    IT IS VITAL THAT YOU ARE THERE TO COMPETE IN THE “PROLOG”….
    Riders who can not make it will be given a hefty time penalty and have to start at last with the slower riders…
    Riders depart at 30 second intervals and you have plenty of time to get to each stage where you will be set off on the “Special Stages” at 30 second intervals also..
    There will be a BBQ and music Saturday at approx 6pm to collect your Sunday race plate and start times.
    I will write up a full event time table nearer the event,
    Get those entries in and we will put a shrimp on the barbie.
    Look forward to seeing you all there.
    Clive

    Ae Forest Enduro is just 2 weeks later – 8th 9th & 10th May, This is the opening event for the World Mountain Bike Conference and Original Bike Festival. Entries are not live yet..”

    Link for those with Facebook is HERE

    Nothing! Don’t think you even are required to wear Full Face. IIRC pics from the Kielder event last year showed loads of riders with open face helmets{a few euro style with goggles}, the events take place round normal trail centres so just whatever you’d normally wear.

    Think my mates’ local The Cobblestone in SMithfield Square has Sunday night sessions. As folksy as you’re likely to get and not many tourists venture up there.
