Definately a noble sentiment, but may I point out again that Steve from Realcycles is now doing a Price Match to try and compete with Merlin. Seriously save yourslf money and get first-class service by taking him up on this offer!

Passe portes weekend marks official opening of the lifts for the summer, but the Pleney in Morzine and the Chevanne in Les Gets are wee bit earlier in June if the same as in the past?

    These ones are fabulous…

Lifts are still open on the weekend this is held, you’ll be able to use them and follow the same route. You won’t get the number plat for the front of your bike or any food at the stations though…

Lindt bunnies! Heavenly if you excuse the pun!

Anyway – this song should always be rolled out at this time of year:

“There is a green hill far away

    beyond a city wall

where our dear lord was crucified

he died to save us all….

Oh! for he’s a jolly good fellow

    For he’s a jolly good fellow…………………”

Would do, but planning to buy from merlin (save £500+)

Think it would be bad form to pick his brains and not buy from him

cheers for the heads up though.

He’s now doing a Price Match in order to compete with other dealers prices{Merlin} and seriously he is an authority on these biks and will give great service – see this link for detailshttp://www.commencalownersclub.com/index.php/topic,3384.0.html

So you’ll get Merlin’s price with Real Cycles support – A RIGHT BARGAIN!

DrJ – Parking meters/permits and severely keen Parking Enforcers nowadays.

OP – I don’t know why I’m arguing so vehemently on Park and Rides behalf – nothing to do with me after all. It’s just that living here, with half the roads beeing dug up for tram works, crazy traffic at the best of times, asshat parking attendants and pollution, just thought it would make more sense to leave the car on the outskirts. Loads of buses and trains available and the place isn’t big anyway, hence relatively easy to get around.

Anyway however you get here, I hope you enjoy the city.

Going east? Away from Leith you mean? Presumably if Ocean Terminal is OP’s destination he’ll be travelling towards Leith. i.e through King’s Road roundabout/Seafield bottleneck at morning rush hour and and out of Leith after the day trip is over i.e back through this at evening rush hour?

Not sure why your arguing so forcefully against someone using a perfectly acceptable way of getting in and out {and around} of town just cos that’s the way you go every day?

Driving in and out of Leith at start and end of day is pretty tricky at the moment due to extensive roadworks though. I’d avoid it if I were you.

Come up A68 to A720{city bypass} then either go left Park and Ride bus at Sherrifhall roundabout, or right for A1 park and ride train at Newcraighall. Buses are quite quick but subject to some traffic issues, trains are super quick to town.

Buckfast is made in Devon. Consumed in prodigious volume in West-Central Scotland but it’s not local I’m afraid.

Luca’s and di Rollo’s ice creams both from Musselburgh. Mmm.

    Can’t understand why the Guru of the Tweed Valley hasn’t been on to set this record staight once and for all. Is he banned at the mo?{you know who I mean} Maybe he’s out enjoying the dryish dust rich trails on offer in the greatst MTB area on the planet{not my words – his}

Anyway not sure anyone has pointed this out, but you can go round Innerleithen without venturing onto any of DH race tracks. If you want to like, and yes you’ll get down most of the race tracks on your choice of bike.

Ton – try Basecamp at Laggan. I’m sure the guy there told me they had them for £399, everywhere else seems to be £490ish?

However if you don’t know what the old red was like you probably won’t know the difference so just do them both?

Andylux- both loops are easily doable in terms of distance. Definatley do both, only criticism would be some of the corners nearer the top {and on jumpy bit near bottom} are bit tight and unbanked for the speed that the trail allows you to build up.

Some real technical challenges there and well worth the trip.

Sadly I weigh 15st, 6ft 1. I ride primarily at GT and Innerleithen,{also some homemade stuff in local woods} although I’m up early today to head up to Laggan for the day. When I said jumps I didn’t mean full on DJ/SS stuff. Think the slack head angle for quick descents remark still stands really.
As for top tube length I’ve never really had a bike I didn’t get on with in this regard. I don’t have outlandishly long arms or owt, just big old shoulders so bar width seems to be more important, and yes will be short strong stem going on there.

Cheers for help so far lads, plenty to look into!

Mate has one and he has no qualms of going out all day on it. In fact I had a loan of it when my own bike was out of action and frakin loved it. Think that nonsense about chiropractors was mischief making.

Great frame, only thing holding me back{see earlier thread} is cost at the moment.

Sorry been away dismantling{demolishing} a pergola in order to make room for new shed/man cave.

I’m 6ft 1″ so probably large on most bikes Ton. Heard tales of your {ahem} stature {/ahem} and know from your regular posts on here that you like a change of frame from time to time.

Rickos – you got an ad on classifieds? Not noticed it yet, unless it’s gone up this afternoon…Oh and what does that Eccentric BB mean exactly?

Blondie is like a cross between Linda McCartney AND Heather Mills. So she won’t win.

They don’t stay whit for very long, so just get them. On the other hand, they clean off quite easily so if you want them white, just get the hose on them. Great shoes.
