You should try having GT and Inners local to you – then you'll know what posers are. They are the reason I ride SS a fair bit – you cant beat making Rambo look like a clueless ****.

Now I totaaly know what you mean about GT and Inners, they are the most popular trail centres in Scotland as we all know and such will attract more than their fair share of poseurs, but are you seriously saying that's the reason you choose to ride single speed? Seriously? To make "Rambo look like a ****"? Dinna believe you. Suspect it's more to do with you having to feel good about yourself by "beating" other folk up or down hills. That makes you the poseur IMO.

Talking of which I was driving down to GT yesterday and was stuck in Traffic near the entrance to the car park in Peebles{where thy hold th market on Saturday mornings} and a guy pulled out of a side street on a lovely wee Kona SS. Nice hardtail I thought. He then ruined all this by making a total James Blunt of bumping up a tiny drop kerb to allow him to cycle along the pavement. Anyway got through the temporary traffic lights and drove along to the roundabout near the petrol station, waited my turn to go. Just then the SS hero came along and had to negotiate another kerb. Another fail, another dab.

That better not have been you Goan. I hate having my heroes and idols shattered…

He's a bit like David Brent's older, equally annoying, lying brother. But as pointed out, he's a committed Christian so all his lying is fine!

Why don't you invite Bear Grylls, Ray Mears or Ranulph Fiennes to this survival-fest? All us mere pussies and wooses{sic} would surely hold you back and get you killed/airlifted?

Mind you they'd probaly wait till the weather got really sh1te…

And p.s I thought the Tweed Valley was THE best place on the planet EVER? Why you leaving god's own country? Might not be as easy for folk to arrive at your door to respond to your fight challenges now? Suppose it depends on where you're off to. Good luck with the flitting.

Goan has only just started his course so is hardly going to be concerned with his degree mark. Think its normal for uni coursework to be graded with As and Bs etc? no excuse for coming on here to moan about how good you are though.

Yep the magpie thing for me too.

Also have wee motivational mantras for particularly gruelling climbs – usually involving sh!tty songs i may have heard that day. Once they're in there it's very difficult to get rid of them.

Downhill it's different – at the moment when I go into corners, I keep telling myself to get my weight forward a bit.

Well since we're all so vastly superior to Stacey{at least I'm man enough to admit I know her name} can we maybe get our punctuation right?

OP – in the thread title you typed

That singer from X Factor – the one from 'Dagn'ham

So you introduced Dagenhem with an apostrophe presumably to intimate you were quoting her speech? Should have been an inverted comma then AND you should have closed the inverted comma after the quote. ALSO to indiciate the ellipsis where the lovely Stacey misses out the e in Dagenham you should have place your apostrophe before the n.

    Thank you.

Cannae beat a good bit of pedantry on a Monday to cheer you up.

Ok I heard this on the radio earlier so not bothered about the spoiler{see what I did with the spelling?} and couldn't really give a **** where the Olympics are held. But isn't the whole point of a spoiler alert NOT to put the result in the thread title? Someone{I'm not that person} may be slightly annoyed by this.

What about a 30 stone woman lying undiscovered for 1-2 months behind her kitchen door?

We were called in by police to help remove her, stuck to the lino and everything. She was in the state known by people who deal with bodies on a regular basis as "a bloater" and we're not talking about the fact she was 30st before she passed away.

I'll never forget the look on my Watch Managers face when he walkied in curiously to see what the police were on about, about face {which turned instantly to green/white} and straight back out, boaking uncontrollably. Unsusprisingly not much of our communal supper was eaten that night.

    Still get the stench in my nostrils now – 3 months later. Give me dog shite anyday.{well don't actually give me any obviously}

Try pleisure.co.uk you will not find better any where all for a more than reasonable price, tell them Dave sent you !

I'll second Dave's recommndation and elaborate – They're based in Courchevel in the Three Valleys. Food and value for money are unreal.

Tell them Ed sent you. As well as Dave obviously.

Don't need the stylus. I use the full screen qwerty, but it takes a bit of getting used to if you have fat thumbs. Otherwise with the alphanumeric it's the same as a normal phone.

I have fat thumbs. Well, they're big anyway.

Takes me an eternity to send a text, cos of the stylus thing, was going to rturn it but that turnd out to be a major ball-ache so I have it now for 18 months.

The Maps app is good though.

Gravy – i personally thought the food was excellent. Couldn't have faulted it at all. The desserts especially were tremendous, chococlate fondant being a favourite. Why, did you not?

Not sure about BBQ trail? Where was that? Can't really remember the names, apart from 11d and le Creux?

Gravy – that is indeed Ness, on the Decathlon with V-brakes with very little block left, and next to no tread on the tyres, and you're right she was fast. A little too fast as it happens as she came a cropper a little while after we came home, landed on her head, unconscious for 10mins, helimed to Albertville, 4 days in hospital. Still a bit out the game now, three weeks later but getting better. Think her Gaz and Beiron come home tomorrow.

Anyway I'm assuming the photo request was from you?

And wasn't Courchevel excellent – think we going to book again for next year. Brilliant place.
