Does my team GT Hans Rey t-shirt count? Think it was 92 or 93 i got it. Don’t wear it much though, it’s prob so old it’s trendy and i don’t want people thinking i ride a fixie round the West End!

Get the impreza. I’ve got a wrx wagon and its 10x better built than the golf gt tdi I just sold. Not too thirsty on a decent run either, likes a drink around town though. Certainly not ‘crazy’ running costs and from a drivers viewpoint it’ll blow a diesel golf out of the water!

Jimjam, i have a 51 plate wrx impreza wagon and i can get bikes upright in the bootwith the wheels off and leaning against the seat bqcks. There is a knack to getting them in but there is plenty space. The wagon has roof rails too so i have a roof mounted rack for when the bikes are filthy!
My wrx will do 32mpg on a steady run and 28 half urban driving and half long run. Mid/low 20’s when just urban driving. Not bad economy for a 4wd performance car. I doubt i’d have a legacy if it had worse performance and worse economy!

I’m a sparky, i could probably write a book about some of the life threatening diy jobs i’ve seen. I could prob also go self employed and earn a steady trade just from the people on here!
Most recent but a minor one for me: My mate had a house built for him a couple of years ago. I visited recently and he asked me to replace the inline extract fan in the roof void for the upstairs toilet, the walls and ceiling were getting mouldy now matter how long the fan was on so he thought the fan had broken.
He gave me a new fan and i climbed into the void. Turned out the fan was fitted the wrong way round and was pumping damp cold air into the toilet from outside! The longer the fan was on, the worse he made the problem!

I was out in the snow and put in a few miles round about nevis range. Finished off with the bottom 3rd of the DH course and nearly flattened 3x dogs/walkers that were ambling up the course! Will try and get a snow pics off my phone.

There is also a lotof current and water in a shower, and if youre standing in a metal bath being covered in water. Well……………

Well, the rcd should trip within 200mS and stop you getting a shock. Unless you have an old db with only mcb’s or rewireable fuses, even they will trip almost instantly in the event of a dead short. Smouldery connections can be a problem though.

Seems a bit steep, I’m 32 & my wrx Impreza is about £400 to insure. Oddly my 306 rallye isn’t much less.
Insurance quotes seem to be fairly random!

I have a Pug 306 rally, does that make the list? It’s a gti-6 stripped of everything electrical or unnecessary and is a reputed 65kg lighter than a gti6 with much less to go wrong. Overall weight is circa 1100kg, with 170bhp to punt it along, even made EVO’s list of top 100 drivers cars……

I’m from Fort William, I’m sure its the wettest place in the country!
Wrap up & you’ll all be fine. The purpose built trails at Nevis Range/Leanachan drain pretty well & your kids should be able to do most of the witches trail. There are loads of other trails up there that are easier if they don’t fancy the purpose built ones. Mostly fire road and the old mini railway line (the puggy line)that goes from the ba factory out to laggan dam.

Try some k-seal first and see what happens. I had an s40 t4 with a crack in the block, put some k-seal in it and it was fine for the following year/ few thousand miles I did before I flogged it. Problem fully disclosed to seller of course!

Suzuki Ignis sport, absolutely amazing little cars!
45 mpg all day long, 120bhp/ton, brilliant handling and the boot fits an upright Mtb with the wheels removed.
Genuine mini rally car, was designed to compete in the junior wrc, from memory I think it won!
Had one last year & stupidly sold it, currently looking for another!

Seat mii 1 litre 5 door on a 4 year lease. £500 deposit & £100 a month then hand it back after the 4 years. Cheaper than the cost of depreciation & no worries if it explodes. Seriously considering this for when my wife’s Golf finally implodes!

Mabie, 82% singletrack and loads of fun. I was there last Wednesday & even in torrential rain I really enjoyed it!

The course has been open for ages, I did a race there about 3 years ago. They had a consultation to get opinions of the course afterwards. Was fairly bizarre part of the course being a public footpath with flights of stairs etc in it but they can only use what is within Glasgow council boundaries.

My wee brother uses my old trek y3 which I leave in my parents garage. He leaves it tied up (ie, not locked up) in various places for ages on end. He was on Facebook a few weeks ago asking if anyone had seen it as he had forgotten where he left it!!
It’s essentially value less so I’m not all that bothered but I need to get my dx thumbies off it before it finally goes awol

Probably the safest way, I’ve had a couple of small electric shocks as an apprentice, it was no fun believe me and gives you a healthy respect for electrickery :-)

What type building is it to be supplied from & what type earthing system does it have? Tt, tns, tncs etc. 30m would be too far for me to consider an overhead catenary wire so I’d be looking at digging a trench and laying an swa cable. Size of conductors, method of supply, earthing type are all site specific so I’d look at asking a local reputable electrical contractor for advice & a cost.

Apparently the gti is a better car in terms of performance/MPG. Get a gti & remap it, only the noise your missing out on. Oh, and the haldex when it snows.

Share your pain, our 16 month old has his molars coming through just now! Calgel seems to help him a lot but he’s still pretty tetchy, poor kid!

    That’s all.

I’ll check my regs book next time I’m in my van. Don’t recall anything about min distance from stoves. Just join it and blank it, it’ll be fine. If you’re worried then fit a 20a mcb to de-rate the circuit and allow for warmer cable s. Doubt your 32a ring would ever see more than 13a tops anyway.

I doubt you’ll see the handyman again, surely he’ll be too embarrassed to return knowing that you’ve experienced what a crazy cow his Mrs is! Report him to hmrc for doing cash work, even if he put your job through the books i’ll bet there’s others that he hasnt! No help now but next time use a qualified tradesman that’s a member of a trade organisation, like the niceic for sparkies.

I’ve got an Asus transformer too, it takes a while to realise that it can do almost as much as a laptop. I hardly use my laptop now. Bought a Bluetooth keyboard to make typing a bit quicker and a USB adapter that let’s you plug in USB sticks and portable HDD’s etc. Wouldn’t be without it now!

You can get maintenance free connector blocks that you simply push the stripped back cables into. Think they are called wago’s. Quick and easy to use. Join cables with these and put a steel blank plate over the box.
How close is it to the stove? Unless its right behind the stove I’d imagine it would be ok. If you can get under the floor you should be able to pull the cables back under the floor and join them in a joint box under there.

Been lurking on here for ages, just signed up to say what a great example this is of people just being nice!
I’ve got a spare deore front caliper and lever you can have for the cost of postage, fully working afaik. From around 2004 I think.
