The bent wheel probably absorbed most of the impact anyway.

I used mine ziptied direct to the top of my helmet, not in the case.
Worked well and is much lighter to the point of being un noticeable. Had to be dry obviously!

I think the RPL is the same as the RP23 but has lockout/PP/open instead of 3 PP settings.

I just put a concrete base down for mine. A bit ott at the moment but in years to come I’ll replace it with a blockwork garage.

That part is out of your hands, it wasn’t deliberate and I’m sure it wouldn’t happen again. I guess you have to try and deal with the consequences and then move on.
Easy for me to say, I know.

Having children of 3 and 1 I know how frustrating they can be so I can imagine that if you had something underlying it might tip you over the edge.

Everyone makes mistakes, try not to let guilt burn you up inside. Concentrate on getting better and mending your relationship with your kids.

    Best of luck bud :-)

Can’t add anything more constructive than the advice above but both my boys have severe reflux and milk protein intolerances. My wife needless to say is an expert on the subject so if you need any advice with that then I can pass on your details.

I can easily munch 4 cakes a day, plus extra if I find it in the house.
I seem to be some sort of genetic freak though as I’m 5ft10 and 10.5 stone. Been eating like this since mid teens and never gain weight. I’m active though and eat well other than my cake habit. Changed jobs last year and got a medical, blood sugar levels were fine.

Am I lucky or heading for disaster?

Grifter pics bring back memories! Would never have guessed it was 42lbs though I do remember it being a bitch to pedal up hills.
Mine is still buried in my parents garage along with my Burner and a pair of Raleigh Budgies!
    Are they worth anything?

Don’t take your motorhome over applecross, I found it a tight squeeze in some bits and that was in a Mk1 MR2!

As above, out of towns you can pretty much park where you want. The ski centre at Nevis Range has a big empty car park and some great trails, stay till the midges get you and you get lightheaded due to lack of blood!

Forestry roads up glen nevis from the Braveheart car park, up to lower falls. For the more adventurous climb up the main road from the west end hotel till you get to a cattle grid. Cross the cattle grid and take a wee path to your left. This will take you up and over into Glen Nevis to meet up with aforementioned forest roads.

The variable vane turbo on my Ibiza TDi Sport got gunked up and would trigger limp mode on full throttle.

Cleaned it in situ with Innotec turbo cleaner stuff and it was perfect afterwards. Worth a try 1st before you shell out for a new snail :)

Was pretty flash in 2001 but next to useless now.
Similar to what happened to my minidisc collection when cd-r became widespread.

A wise decision for once was buying a digital camera in 2000, pics were crap but whenever you took a photo people thought it was something from 100 years in the future!

Chain cleaner is a Barbeiri (sp?) one in a rebranded package and actually very good.

I always though a good route would be to park at the bottom of Glen Coe (at the Clachaig), ride up the singletrack beside the road and join the old road at the ‘Study’ and follow to the foot of Devil’s Staircase. Ride/push up the staircase, descend other side to landrover track, turn right and climb back up to Blackwater Reservoir, cross reservoir, turn left and descend to Kinlochleven. Split the cost of a taxi back to your car.

I did this a teenager, one of the most memorable cycles I’ve ever done!
Perfect summer day, and great route. Came off the bike on the top of the staircase and skinned both arms, mate got a puncture and rode the last sections with his tyres stuffed with grass/weeds/whatever. Made it into my summer job as a waiter in a hotel 10 mins late and got put to work in the kitchen as I was dusty and bleeding! Grinning just thinking about it :)

Parkesie, how did you manage that? Looks like you’re parked there deliberately!

As above, fit and forget. Pad changes take less than a minute, other than that I haven’t touched mine since i fitted them (about 1998 I think!). When I bought new forks I fitted a front disc and this combo is perfectly useable off road and in pretty muddy/damp conditions. I don’t notice much difference between that and my FS bike with discs front and rear.

I lived there till a couple of months ago. Just over in Drumnadrochit now. I used to mostly go to contin or go for a pedal round the forest roads but I was only there for 6 months so didn’t explore much. There is trails up at Abriachan but I haven’t been round them yet as I’ve been looking about for local trails. Let me know if you fancy a pedal, there seems to be a pretty active group round here.

I’ve got Fox RL80’s on my 1996 cinder cone. The frame is suspension corrected as the P2 rigid forks were the same length as period suspension. Handles the same as when I got it (new!) and the extra 30mm plush travel makes it much nicer to ride.
The Fox’s work a tad better than my old Marzocchi XCR’s…

I’ve used both. Borrowed a chariot then bought a 2nd hand Burley.
The chariot I felt had a more comfortable seating system but the burley was more spacious. I wanted to be future proof so bought a two seat Burley even before we planned number 2.

No 1 son loves it, number 2 is 9 months now and going in as soon as the weather starts to warm up.

Once you get used to the extra weight and being slightly less nimble you can have a lot of fun with them!
