Half laughed and half sobbed when they won the house auction – it really moved me.

    Ozark has really hooked me.

    Fargo latest is broodingly good.

Top of the Lake 2 looks like it should be good.

I’ve had an Xtracycle conversion on a oldish Gary Fisher 29er frame for 7 years – big apples, Alfine 8 speed, deck and panniers and it still is my weekend go to vehicle around town (the kids are 13 & 14, they dismount on longer hills – still a breeze on the towpath).
Shopping, getting positive comments off Yummy Mummies, it ticks boxes for me.

My Mk1 Salsa Fargo – wrote my first off into the back of van at daft downhill speed. Built a new old one off a USA sourced Mk1 frame and bought a spare frame & fork when it came up on here as I’ve not ridden anything so suited just to me.

The Abel Heywood – ask for a loft room. Lovely hotel and nice pub.

Team are amazing – I stay weekly due to work commitments and they are the best. Tell them John Munro reco’d them.

The Little Leeds shop is well worth a trip – lovely selection and a nice spot away from the maddening crowds.

I’m off to the Magic Rock Tap in Huddersfield Sunday for a birthday beer or two – love their Salty Kiss, High Wire and Grapefruit High Wire.Snap was good last time I was there too.

Rectangular always for everything – primarily I can’t stand the diagonal cut on a sandwich, always leads to filling loss particularly on salad componentry.
Square cut toast is superior for mopping bean juice post fry up and builds a better bacon +x butty at the start of aforementioned breakfast.

A pal of mine was an apprentice mechanic in the mid-80’s and was sent out by a senior spannerman feigning a sore throat to get some strawberry lillets. Chemist ladies were kind enough to only laugh a bit.

Get some hand paddles and a pull buoy for your swimming to increase the aerobic effort (former) and protect your knee (latter).

Personally I think proper fit at swimming sees me through better than other cardio stuff.

I was shouting at the screen following the denouement of the last episode. The sibling rivalry thing is so insidious and slow burning it makes me stress out for 50 minutes a week.
    I’m loving S2 whereas 1 was a bit vanilla.

Richpips – I hope it raised a smile for you and Tom after that slog that was just before! Mega well done for finishing.

Awesomely well organised event and terrifically well marked and easy to follow. I completely underestimated the elevation and consequent pace that that forced. Some of those climbs seemed everlasting. Fell off on that super steep blip on the slate not long before the 135km bail point. The snow hit peak flurry at the get out – knees and hands were frozen so I bailed.
More time on the bike needed and core/back exercises to strengthen up – lower back ache is the only physical memory but whenever I stop to think I’m replaying the ride like a film in my head.
The Fargo was faultless and the fatter tyres were slow and comfortable mostly and allowed for silly smashfest descents which was the only time I went past people (who all caught me on the next climb on the CXers).
Longest off-road effort for me so chuffed and chapeau to all the finishers – brave.

I spent the early hours of Wednesday morning running through this in my head over & over (riding, eating, drinking options, kit and clothing). It’s all packed as of yesterday so feeling more zen.

I’ll be aboard my Alpkit kitted snot green Fargo 1 and hoping the sun comes out later on Saturday. Say hi – I’m John.

I witnessed a 10:30 “breakfast beer” this morning is a NQ boutique hotel/bar – too early for me.
    Noon in UK.
    10:30 in sunnier climes.

I’m undertrained but super excited. I’ll be on my mk1 Fargo with maybe some Onza Canis’ on. Slow & steady away.

Any insight on feed station frequency and stuff to eat – OTE sponsoring are they providing their ace crispy ricey choccy bars?

    Fingers crossed for some weather.

Good call on the brewery tour – any one of the Castle Rock pubs is a good bet. I like the Lincolnshire Poacher for a good pint.

Tour the caves under the castle in the city centre – a more insightful tour than the “City of Caves” in the Broadmarsh shopping centre.

Have a beer in Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem at the foot of the castle cliff.

Have a coffee in Wired and a mooch round Hockley (the last vestige of indy stores) in Nottingham.

Stand next to the Left Lion at the front of the Town Hall in slab square.

You can ride right into town from Sat Bains – head away from the overpass and round the river/canal (the long way round but prettier than in along Queens Drive).

It’s only a small city but it’s got a decent vibe – avoid the Yates/Wetherspoon/Star Wars bar crowd on an evening.

Backie or a seatie for a rear mounted ride.

Croggy a ride seated on the top tube between the saddle and bars.
