Mine are in the garage but for years my suffering Mother complained about them living in the house after the first set got stolen!!
Now though I’m not bothered abotu them living outside as long as they have decent locks etc, remember if someone wants to steal them they will put a lot of effort in to get them no matter where they are stored!

crumbs so many ideas now I don’t know where to start! we are more than happy going for some “proper” rough riding however often it’s difficult finding the decent stuff without spending 1 hour riding up some gash fire road to miss all the best trails .. then the domestics start and it’s not worth it! at least with the trail centres they are easy to find waymarked and when I looked at the 7 Stanes website they look awesome!
Don’t get me wrong I love Afan adn Glyncorrwg but looks like there is far more! And therei s nothing better than at the end of the day sitting in a “proper” MTBer cafe with large chunks of banana cake!!

So I’m not sure if I have deduced what is the best riding for a week? Think I’ll have to got through this thread again when I have more time and see what gets the best votes!

cheers though lots to think about.

Having flown bikes as part of a group for years, most of the bags are the same product with a different logo (planet X, DHB etc etc). The DHB one i got from wiggle is the same as planet X etc but about 6 inches longer which is a FPITA getting it through airport doors. Missus Munqe chick’s planet X is the “right size”. And in puke yellow was only £45 from CRC.

Hired a hard case to fly a trek carbon Y bike (what a POS that was, but thats another story) and the baggage handlers threw it around something rotten. Wouldnt use one again, they are too big heavy and bulky and invite abuse.

(“mister” munqe chick posting) driving miss munqe chicks 54hp 1.2l skoda at a baby killing lock-me-up-and-throw-away-the-key 83mph on the M4 from cardiff to swansea (they always have vans on the over bridges, I now know…). To go see her gran who is in a home (where’s the moral justice there?!).

Shouldnt complain though, in 18 years of riding motorbikes (currently an R1) I’ve never been caught speeding on two wheels. Which is just as well as it might just be beyond the 3-points bracket….

Own a small 2 bed end of terrace in a lovely area, is ample for our needs, don’t have children rarely have anyone to stay! It has a garage for the 5 push bikes and 2 motor bikes! mortgage is well within our means, rest goes on MTB/motor bike bits! But to be honest most of my fun money goes towards holidays, have 2 a year. Normally winter snowboarding and summer downhilling in Morzine!!

Other friends whinge at us that we have so much money but neither me nor other half spend much on clothes, magazines or general crap we just aren’t those sorts of people!!

Ohh lots of things to think about! I’m 5ft 1/2 have a 15inch Kona (I think but I did buy it 15 years ago!) and an XS Giant! I may have to have a nosy into riding some to have a look.

Funnily enough I’m hoping to be at AFan on the weekend but not sure yet though but I’ll definately look out for you to say “hi”! I’ll be on my green Giant Reign with boyfriend on a white Kona Coiler!!

I do everything really, this bike is going to be mainly for trail riding and X country stuff. I have a Giant Reign 2 for downhilling which is also currently my every day bike but it’s a bit heavy say if you go to Afan or Cwmcarn!! so wanted something a little nippier! Have an old old Kona Fire Mountain which I love but it’s slowly dying (had it 15 years) so decided to treat myself to the new bike!! However as previously mentioned it will be a birthday pressie treat!!

I take it you would then go for a 15 inch women’s specific frame??

I have a Havoc which is large! Has a 3 litre bladder the external pocket and straps to carry a full face and pads.
I am happy to sell it second hand for £38 (inc postage) without a bladder if you are interested. It’s too big for me being a chick!!

    Just open to suggestions really.

AGain like everyone has said above about checking with your mortgage company. However at present with the dire financial straights everyone is in it’s worth over paying as your savings will be getting diddly squat in interet and remember you get taxed on those savings (unless it’s ISA) so anything to stop the bleeding taxman taking my pennies!!

My new mortgage I’m about to get allows me to over pay unlimited, no catches .. I spent about 10 mins on the phone to the woman saying "but there MUST be a catch, this is too good to be true and there’s no such thing as that in this job so what’s going on" …. no read the small print and it is as good as it looks!!!

She cycles have a face book site though so maybe we could all use that instead. It doesn’t get quite as mad or bogged down with a lot of rubbish on this site sometimes!!!

Night turn on patrol at 11pm there are often drink drivers people nicking cars exactly like a lot of people have said. You see someone driving along at that time of night you can stop them (S163 Road Traffic Act) don’t need a reason and have a chat. I’d be polite a courteous just asking where you are going to and from, do a check on the car and ask if you have any ID to confirm who you are. all checks in order off you go 5 mins later. It is amazing what those checks bring up especially at that time of night!!

There is one in Les Gets right at the top on top of the hill on the opposite side of the valley from the Les Gets DH run (with 6 man chair lift) Le grange au frene I think it’s called has great facilities with hot showers, kitchen area to cook etc etc.
There is one in Morzine although I don’t think that it is in a very good place.

Came about through my brother! When I was 13 him and a mate ad £100 bikes and went out and for some reason bought MBUK .. this was May 1993! They started riding a lot and bro went out and bought a Marin Pine Mountain and his mate got a Raleigh Lizard! I inherited my bro’s old Emmelle Cheetah (£99 Halfords bike). Started tagging along and got roped into a local race .. turned up a won in my jeans and rugby shirt! Met a load of boys from local bike shop at the race so joined what was then Cardiff Cycle Centre! Spent all my hours getting muddy and saving up for new bike! In October 93 bought a Kona Fire Mountain, grey and purple .. loved that bike and after 3 months it got nicked! was gutted .. and as New Year began I had to buy the 1994 Fire Mountain .. remember I was gutted as it was red and I didn’t like it! Soon grew to love it with my Onza pedals and Nike Poo Bah shoes!!

Cardiff Cycle Centre closed down so we all decided to start a new club, since there was a roadie club called Cardiff ajax we decided to call ourselves Cardiff JIF as a pi** take!! Cyclopaedia opened and everything revolved around the shop! I remember bunking off school to go there and help them paint the walls! Sitting on milk crates dealing in 2nd hand bikes with the odd chain set on the wall!

Was racing lots around Wales and winning! Was welsh cyclo cross champ and Welsh Junior champ in 1996.

I still have that Kona running like a beauty and now it’s all XTR’d up! about 3 years ago I put some old PACE RC35 suspension forks on and took it to Morzine .. ground the elastamers away in 2 days and formed a newly rigid bike again!!

It was only 2 years ago I bought a new bike, Giant Reign 2!! Still have my Kona as my winter bike but love it as it has so many fond memories of my youth!

cannot imagine life without my MTB! Morzine downhilling every year for the last 5!! Off to Morocco in April on a tour.

Cardiff JIF running strong and produced some great cyclists … Geraint Thomas (infamous team pursuiter from Beijing) was a member! Ian Jeremiah (who owns Cyclopaedia) was 14th in Commonwealths in Manchester! shop is still running strongly.

Oh my youth of spending all summer in the mountains with squashed sandwiches and my Dad so understanding letting his 15 yr old daughter out MTBing all day with lads of 20-25yrs old (and yes it was completely all innocent!).

As you can gather I LOVE MTBING!!!!!
