I would only run clipless .. guess it’s what you are used to. Loosen the tension on them a bit so can get out easily and if you’re on big Shimano 545’s then there’s loads of room to not clip in anyway but gives you that option.

Pretty much every book mentioned on this thread I’ve read! get through about 2 a week, the joys of shift work!

I would 2nd (or 22nd!) The Time Travellers Wife, Life of Pi, Child 44.

    some others are :
“the boy in the striped pyjamas” John Boyne. Only thing is they’ve changed the cover to promote the movie and it gives the topic away. I read it when I had no clue but absolutley heart moving … you will sit still for hours whils you think about it!

    “The Glass Palace” Amitav Ghosh.
“The Disappearing of Katarina Linden” helen grant.

I could go on but those are my favourites!

Gail Porter has famously had alopecia but have you seen the size of her chest recently … my God they are enormous! oh and she clearly cannot and has never ridden a bike before, did you see her style!!! Oh well not going to diss her too much as fair play for having a go and she did a cheeky little stunt.

Can’t saying anything on this forum any more without getting torn to shreds/presuptiom of opinions.

I had to read Corinthians out at a wedding in August in a Catholic Church. The groom was 37 years old and when I got to the bit
“When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child; when I became an adult, I put an end to childish ways.” I looked at the groom and laughed hysterically …. he acts like he’s 15!!! then got embarassed as I was up high in the pulpit but everyone else laughed too so wasn’t so bad in the end!

Conspiracies to commit an offence also hold the full offence sentence. So if you conspire to commit a robbery, even if it is a very minor part you can expect the full sentence (whether that is given or not is another matter) surely you would be fully aware of what you are conspiring to commit!

Robbery has a sentence of life, there is no such offence as armed robbery. Being armed just aggravates the offence and means you will probably get additional time added to your sentence.

I think that whether people think 30 years is a harsh sentence or not that is what the trial Judge handed down. Biggs evaded capture… he has to do the time, like everyone else.
Would people be saying this if it was a rape? murder? manslaughter? Just giving food for thought.

you should complain there is no reason why a copper should swear at you and certainly NOT in front of a kid. Even if you were in the wrong (and I’m not saying you were as I have no clue as to the situation) you do not swear at people as it creates the opinions that people have of coppers. We’re all thugs, bullys and on a power trip. I know quite a few which are and shouldn’t be in the job, I put my complaints in to the deparment which deals with it and nothing gets done!
can you believe they still cannot do random drug tests in the police? they have to have with cause!!!!
I’m not offended by people’s opinons it just sometimes make me sad as some of us do work hard to build up positive images when we know there are bad eggs out there!

happy days being a pig a the mo!!!! :?

I have just bought a Cube and it’s awesome! Definately worth investing in a HT however it’s weird getting onto one having been riding a FS for the last 3 years, you find yourself hitting those big roots and knarly rocky bits and then realising that your bike won’t just glide over it but that you actually have to pedal and try and control it a bit more.
You will realise though you can rip it up (if you’re a confident/quick DH on the FS). Went to Afan last weekend on brand new Cube and was flying felt awesome though!!!!!

I would just like to clarify why I said “freewheeling without pedalling” when talking about manualing .. I must’ve been drunk as isn’t that just coasting/cruising along!!

sorry if I confused you! plum .. walks away with head held down

Rudeboy nope that’s certainly not going to happen! i wish to get rid of the bad uns so that not everyone has the impression of coppers that most of you have on here, i’ll keep fighting to change impressions.

Awesome thread must be brill! ED-O looks like your kid got some skills already .. building his own frame at 11! That’s going to save him a few quid in the LBS when he gets older! oh and ripping it up like hat he’s bound to be a hit wih the ladies!!

I think it’s a man thing wanting to learn to manual!!!
Mr MC says he’d like to learn to manual properly .. however jumping for him is no problem. He has done (and does regularly when we go there) a 20ft jump but can’ manual … boys

Edd you need to grab the local chav to show you some skills? Or maybe you aren’t wearing the right gear … a hoodie and some trackkie b’s 8O
okay so I see what you mean about fitness ….. guessing it’s just jumping them but have completely lost the bottle.

It’s weird how you sometimes bottle things. I have ridden off the back of pointes du soleil in France and down the DH there twice, however last years it scared the bejeepers out of me! maybe the goal should be to ride it this year on Portes du soleil .. surely once you’ve tackled it once without any problems you should be okay? Oh the mind does some funny things!

Oh I have just thought of another one .. I would like the confidence to start trying jumps. I can jump off small things on a DH like roots, but would like to try bigger more drops (that are not rideable if it went wrong!). Tried once in Morzine about 2 years ago and landed front wheel first. .. held the landing .. but oh it made me feel so sick and nervous I’ve not tried again since!! I just think chicks can’t jump (unless started young .. before everyone shouts at me!!).

Hitman you’re right there, they started on the corner of Flora STreet to attract the students and Stu’s grandma owned it so made things easier for them. Now up on Crwys Road bigger and better premises! Top shop though

Having just re-read the other post I didn’t make myself clear. I didn’t agree with everything 2 hottie said but it’s too late now it has come across as wrong and written in a hurry! oh well never mind mistake made.

we ride together ALL the time, I have 3 MTB’s he has 1! I have the better bikes! We met at a 24 hour MTB race 6 1/2 years ago, since then we have been to Morzine downhilling EVERY year, next weekend we are off MTBing to Morocco. We reguarly go riding in Wales at trail centres (as I’m from Cardiff). Love riding together and would not do anything else!

I agreed with what 2hottie said but I have never given my own opinion on any of the matters discussed here and I would not like to either as I wasn’t there.

PS: Oh and Grumm I have made no comments on here about my views of what happened at G20 so you cannot suggest I have “sided with my colleagues”.

All I’m now saying is I don’ work in the Met. I’m not going to make any more comment on his thread as it may lose me my job. I’m off not to return here.

I am not going to comment on my opinions of either the IPCC or the G20 protests and what happened it just concerns me how everyone hears a story from one perspective and they are so anti-police. I doesn’t give me much hope for serving my force and trying to give the public the best service they desire and deserve when people are so anti.

And that is just how the IPCC gets involved the police inform them and they begin their investigation.

Oh well I love my job so I’ll keep plugging away hoping to get things better.

I am not blaming the media at all, what I’m saying is everyone is making their opinions and decisions based on the media, which as everyone know is never the FULL picture.

The IPCC would ALWAYS have become involved. No matter what may occur whenever there is a death either in Custody or within 24 hours of being “invovled”/meeting with police there will ALWAYS be an IPCC investigation. If I spoke to Joe Bloggs in the street and conducted a drugs search then 8 hours later he died of a heart attack, the IPCC would conduct an investigation due to police involvement, so IPCC involvement has nothing to do with media furore over his death.

1st PM would be a normal home office pathologist, IPCC then come aboard o investigate and will automatically conduct their own PM with their own different pathologist.

Bit similar to a murder, 1st PM takes place and then defence have the opportunity to run another PM with their own pathologist if they wish.

Cyclopaedia, Crwys Road, Cardiff run by Ian Jeremiah and Stuart Meek. They opened their shop 15 years ago, starting off as a small venture dealing in 2nd hand bikes, now moved ono far bigger and better things. Ian opened the shop SOLELY for me on Good Friday so I could collect my new Cube hardtail .. now THAT is service! I don’t live in Cardiff anymore however I still call him buy my new bikes from him (got my Giant Reign from him 3 years ago) oh and today I come home to my parcel of a new drop out and patches. Would not go anywhere else.
Oh and remember he raced for Wales in the Commonwealths and is awesome to ride with!

Grizzlygus, crikey with you both. Makes me angry people jump to conclusions from what the media portray which IS NOT the full facts. We as the public never know the full facts. Being a copper I can also see the difficulty for the police policing that protest, what a nightmare it must’ve been. I undergo the training to be able to police those demonstrations, get petrol bombed, fight with ridiculous amounts of kit on, run around with a shield .. would like to see some of you try it when you feel outnumbered and see what your reactions are anyway I’m not going to pass judgement or opinion on the G20 as I can see both sides and from my policing I certainly know the media are not potraying it in it’s full light. he police cannot comment on procedure/tactics to allay any fears.

Do not judge all police from one incident that has not even come to a full investigation/conclusion.
