MMM being a chick (who would never ride alone for various reasons). I carry a whistle, foil blanket, small penkife, £5 ish in change, 1 spare inner tube, multi tool, 3 litres of water and a cereal bar or lunch (depending on ride).
Mr MC carries all the pumps, chain links, more inner tubes, spare jockey wheels etc etc the kitchen sink! But I’m not complaining as he’s saved me on many occasion!

No I didn’t. To be honest if I try to go deep into my memory recall is does ring bells, especially being from Cardiff and as a kid regularly going to Bristol Zoo but it’s still a great story of intelligence!!!!

Shooterman that is scary sounds like she has lost the plot! Scary but have you mentioned splitting up and see waht her reaction is then? I know too many people in my job that are in a relationship for the sake of the kids and they are such depressive people to be around as they aren’t happy, the ones that often make the break and split up find it horrendous for a few months but then realise why they wanted out and move on to be much happier, more successful and the kids will feed off the vibes between parents. Difficult situation and I really feel for you. good luck.

When I first started my current job 6 years ago I would happily work all the hours I could, if duties rang to offer over time I’d be the first to take it then spend days recovering knackered as I’d worked 9-10 days in a row. However about 7 months ago I had a really stressful day at work one day got home ranting and raving and suddenly it’s dawned on me I’m not actually so bothered about my work anymore. I go to work to earn money to live. There are times when I HAVE to work overtime, 1 week ago I started at 0730 finished at 0200 then was back at my desk at 0730 hours but rather than taking that as money I now take it as time off in lieu. And it’s great I have not worked a full week in 4 months as I keep building up my TOIL from those odd days when I have to work late and have no choice. Today is one of those TOIL days. I’m sat in bed with a cup of tea, new washing machine has just been delivered and I’m shortly off swimming.

My quality of life is great now, I don’t get stressed at work and just look to book more time off! Having spent 4 years of working hard I now have a brilliant work/life balance!!

I’m always trying to ge Mr MC to do it but he’s not interested! I think it looks awesome. I’m hoping to do the one in the Forest of Dean for a hen do in July! If you go to the go ape website you can see which one has the longest zip slide and highest points etc.

I have a Day Star as my Morzine day pack and a cheapy Storm Shield pack from Millets (I see Halfords have exactly the same pack with a differen name) as my weekend out for 3 hours or so.
I was looking at buying one of the Vaude Roomy 12 +3 or 17 +3 which were really comfy on and i’m 5ft 4 inches. Didn’t buy a Vaude in he end as I found the Camelbak cheaper with a bladder (and I needed a new bladder).

That’s what I was thinking DeadlyD but I’ve been stuck in that horrific traffic before but I’m thinking that time I left around 3pm. Thinking I’ll wait to leave until 1930-2000 then I can just see the queues going home t’other way. Oh an I guess if I listen to 5five travel before hand that’ll clear it all up!
    Cheers

I’m well into biking and weirdly my boss just asked if I had to choice between MTB and boyfriend what would I do!! Oh dear what a dilemma …. ;-) especially as I met Mr MC at a 23 hour MTB race.
I love DH and certainly find myself in the minority in Morzine, what makes me laugh is men and their ego about getting overtaking by a woman! Brilliant!!

Aracer are you just being an argumentative t***!!! I was just saying life doesn’t automatically mean life!!! I know some people get life. I’m quite well aware of the law thanks.

Criminal law I find very interesting. Look at things like the special defences for murder and stuff like that. Oh and proving attempt murder is a nightmare! For murder you only have to prove intent to cause serious GBH OR death, to prove attempt murder you have to prove intent to kill!!!! Hence why they often struggle and get charged with s18 GBH wounding with intent instead of attempt murder as S18 still carries a life sentence.

In relation to recklessness it all used to be between subjective and objective recklessness. The concept of objective recklessness being R V CALDWELL (1982) however this has now gone and is restored to it’s former position of R v G & R (2003). This case was 2 children who set fire to some burning newspapers in the rear of a shop yard whilst camping out. The children put the burning papers under a wheelie bin and left them expecting the small fire to burn out. It didn’t and caused a million pounds worth of damage.

Under R V Caldwell the children would’ve been convicted on the basis that the risk of the fire would have been obvious to any reasonable bystander, however their convictions were quashed by House of Lords who reinstated the general subjective element.

How interesting the law changes then returns to it’s original. There is some case law relating to assaults that still stands now and it is from 1669 and another from 1853!!!

It doesn’t mean life! If someone is sentenced to life imprisonment they can get released on parole, with life conditions, probation etc. We do not imprison people in the UK until they die (which would mean life)!!!!!!

MMM am I the only chick that’s thinking about doing this? I have grown to love press ups now I can do proper manly ones rather that shizzle girlie ones on the knee. I can do 4 sets of 10 … not sure how many I can just do one off, may have a go next week and start for fun!!

I am well aware of the difference between actual sentence and time spent imprisoned I jus thought I’d mention it since we were discussing murder being the most serious offence.

They use the offence of aggravated trespass to deal with the Hunt Sabs (or used to when hunting wasn’t banned).

But remember that life doesn’t mean life!

I wouldn’t say that “murder is the highest crime in the land” False imprisonment and kidnapping are all common law offences. As they are all common law offences they are triable in the Crown Court only and they have an unlimited maximum penalty.

Other thing to remember is that in civil law the burden of proof is “on the balance of probabilities” in the criminal courts is is “beyond reasonable doubt” which is a massive difference in finding someone guilty of an offence!!

the fancy camera shots are ace, apparently 600fps, captures the body panels flexing etc very dynamic.

Sh@t myself when steve plater’s on-bike camera caught him going onto grass verge after avoiding a crashed bike, really thought he was gonna lose it.

GM is a legend and mad as a box or frogs. Steve Parrish is a c#ck and his interview with Rossi was toe-curling “look theres Ago’s leap” yes steve he’s stood watching it with Ago… and dont talk to him like basil fawlty to manuel, he speaks english. Bad enough he ruins BBC motogp commentary (with his buffoon antipodean mate charlie “cliche” cox) without getting onto ITV and ruining the TT.

Rant over, fingers crossed for a safe year.

what, I shouldnt send him my money?! :-) Makes a nice change for the reply to be in coherent English, and the more usual scams Ive seen have been potential buyers doing the old “i’ll give you a check for £5000 and you give me the difference”.

Actually, just emailed him to see if he’ll accept a check from my agent in italy and pay me the difference. It could all work out fine.

Shame, cos wherever he’s lifted the pics from someone had a nice bike.

There are still ample lifts open to service the whole of the PduS. Best to get a map from lifts. Also the cross country stuff is reasonably easy to find as it’s all numbered again you can get a map from the tourish info centres. I’ve never been with a copmany as it’s really easy to find stuff.

How durable is this frame from rock dings and other damage? Mr MC posted a few weeks ago about buying one of these and he really wanted one and loves the with frame however what’s talking him out is the durability/toughness of carbon fibre and now he’s not so sure (was looking at a Santa Cruz Nomad). Oh he’s not interested in material BS as he is a material scientist he wants to know the real world info, is it quite tough? How do they hold up in the Alps? On the lift racks etc?

Being old bill if that was my situation I’d stay away. It’s just going to make things uncomfortable and you’ll always be looking out. you’ll find another house just as nice if not nicer, it’s worth holding out for that better location. Don’t do it!!

You need to eat something better to fill you up as if you get hungry you do exactly what you’re saying you’re doing! I can’t do that either as the minute I get hungry I get very very grumpy and can’t function at all! I then get a severe stomach ache and then I go past eating and can’t eat due to severe stomach pains but have to eat! Basically have to go to sleep until stomach pains go! It’s a nightmare especially doing things like going on holiday with friends who eat really late compared to me!
getting used to eating fruit or oat cakes with grapes are good!!

Easy said then done “just get over it” … if you have a fear of something despite how much I can deal with 1 or 2 dogs I know I can’t help it. I have seriously tried, done lots of work with friends with dogs and starting off with puppies etc (which tend to be fine) then they get big and OMG just can’t deal with it. Thing is crossing a road, getting on a plane do not scare me so it’s easy!!!!! strange analogy there!
Some people can’t stand snakes, spiders and other weird fears .. unfortunately mine is dogs!!!
