Yep, entire bike snuck in under the radar piece by piece over two years. Rubbing mud from a plant pot into some of my “old” components saw me steeping to new lows. To be honest it became a bit of a sport.

The best meeting I ever attended was when a project manager handed out pre written meeting minutes at the start then sat back and said ‘this is what is going to be agreed, does anyone disagree? No one did or to be honest cared. Meeting over and one more middle management ego maniac satiated.

I worked on a hospital refit where they had fully removable walls so they could create super wards for all the injured in the event of a nearby (ish) nuclear strike. When I asked if they had a bunker I was met with a wall of silence.

I also have a friend who’s father is (was) on the list of aftermath residents, who have important skills to rebuild society after the Armageddon. As mentioned previously his family where also not included.

I hope they have kept or do keep a few of these things secret – did anyone see the china day celebrations / big nuke parade a couple of years ago…

Rosebikes. I got a pair fir circa100 and they have been faultless. Have to swap the overs over as they are set up euro styley but it’s quite easy with a cheap eBay bleed kit

Every time I cannot afford a winter jacket we have a bad winter.

This year I am utterly skint. Please donate generously if you want a mild winter, as these phenomena are clearly directly related.

Nice. Approximately what do they weigh? What do you reckon the weight premium is for a 29er over a 26er?

Look at the mid week movies. There’s a little film with patriots in whistler. I bet that will put you off.

Because they are heavy, very heavy and un refined. And look like a dog having one.

As said if you want performance you could get the better for the same

    I might outbid you too….

5’9 on a 15 with a lot of seat extension, I assume at 6′ the saddle would need torun low all the time.

I don’t believe the 160 was much better on the ups, or worse on the downs. It would depend on the type of downs.

Own a blood and tested an alpine 160 for a couple of weeks (before getting a nomad) so these are my thoughts. The blood is a firecracker of a bike. The 125 travel feels like way more. Not as plush as an alpine 160 but seems to be lighter. Not great for an all day in the uk bike but neither is the 160. The cable routing also really sucks, but there are workarounds if you trawl the interweb. If I had to choose and could only have one bike I would choose the 160 or maybe a five, which I guess I why they stopped making the blood. Think of it more as a really good play bike. If that’s what you ride (short and fast and jumpy) then it is ideal. If its relevant I owned a nomad and a blood for a while and the nomad gathered dust….

Bad news – it basically can’t be done, read the mtbr forums and you will realise you need a coil shock. My rp23 is ok but nothing to write home about. Dhx air has always sucked with nomads, particularly the mid stroke.

The plank who is apparently a doctor on casualty but minced around a restaurant in sunglasses like he owned the place. If you want to act like that at least be famous enough to warrant it…

I have Deore and xt, and they are pretty damn similar so slx are probably the perfect combination of price and efficiency

Check the serial number for the age, I think it will end with an 04 or 05 or some such

Watch for any bearing play as a new propack and fitting would fairly bump up the price

I bought frame wrap of a chap on eBay (noels eyebrows) don’t know if it is genuine frame wrap but it worked really well for me, although you can just use electrical tape for a less professional look

I get really bad cramp, my legs can lock straight at inopertune moments. I have found 2 things work, 1 is fitness the other is bananas, and I need both or it will happen around 2.5 hours in. Temperature seems to effect it too, but it might be that my fitness is lower during the colder months. I have found bananas way more useful than the usual nuun tablet route…

Just finish the other half ironman, a full ironman could cope with any s**tstorm

Seriously though, everything tends to sort itself out, it’s the not knowing when its going to get better that keeps you awake at night…

    Love

Simply engineered, functional, long lasting, maintenance free, low ish specs for the price but you get really solid sensible specs,

    Hate

A bit heavy, but not by much
The fact they are judged by looks, they have beauty in their utility
The fact that a brands image taints perception, that would mean you buy products based on others perceptions of you using said product- where would one sit on a bike cool wall etc
Brand evangelism- I like them but you may not

Ae is way better than people say. Its improving as the trails rough up a bit. They have ruined a lot of sections by tree felling and smoothing over the older rocky sections. Omega man fairly makes up for the rest though, but only if you are up for it. Cafe and shop are now shut though so the facilities are not great.

The answer surely depends on the sequence of operation and if there are any implied brackets in the equation. The answer is probably zero or some such.

Test rode a 160 many times before eventually getting a nomad C. Chose the nomad C purely on the basis of weight. I found the ride similar on both, with the alpine better in a lot of ways, in particular it’s linear quality. But I do a lot of climbing so took the expensive option. In hindsight an alpine with a light wheelset could easily have been better for less cost. Horses for courses really
