Am a great fan of the Octavia but as you don’t want one have a look at the Mazda 6 – managed to get a mate one last week, 2007 estate TS2 (143BHP DIESEL) 1 company owner, full Mazda history, all the bells and whistles including a Bose stereo, nice clean car with a recent DMF – all for the grand sum of £4800. Great driving car (tyre noise a wee bit too much) but Mazda build which means plastic is a few generations back but the build quality is rock solid and space wise it is huuggeee and with the kamikazee seats it can be the perfect MTBer tool. Can’t be beaten for the money

Make sure it is a decent one where they do not believe the punter wants to eat glutinous MSG sh1te!!!!

When it is good it is superb, unfortunately most of it sold in restaurants in the UK is terrible.

Thanks for the advice guys but maybe I am old school but always thought that the best time to get a job was when you were in one.

Who is doing the best deals on insulation atm?

B&Q are doing the 200mm triple rolls at the moment for £3 – as cheap as it gets

That is absolutely stupid money I was able to buy the 06 petrol one below for £6700 in April 09 and that had 50k on the clock. A decent price for that one you are looking at would be around £5800 – £6000. As said unless you are doing more than 15k miles a year petrol makes more sense. It was a brilliant car but ate three dmf’s while I had it and the abs block went 3 weeks after I sold it.

Thanks for he replies. It seems the general consensus is it’s a good car for bikin and other family duties.
I’m heading up to see this one today.

Bloody hell John that is big money for a two year example, for a few hundred more you can get a brand new one of these, which is a much more capable and modern vehicle.

If you buy one make sure you factor in the cost of a replacement turbo when it goes bang – Nissan replaced two for me in 50k miles of ownership

Ultimately it is a custom however Gary recommends 71 degrees, on my Freeride it was just too steep if you were riding anywhere outside The Fens, which was a great shame as it was brilliant on natural, twisty singletrack, one of my best memories was a wet weekend at Drumlanrig on it.

As others have said the quality and finish of the brazing on it was a thing of beauty.

Rob how many times will you ask this question about a vito or T4/5 before you realise with your budget it is either bite the bullet on an Hiace or a transit?

I still miss the old rascal, and politics is a sadder and less interesting place without him. Gawd bless yer Bernie

Ernie surely you have to question some of his motivations, saw him several times speaking in the early ninties and always got the impression he was the perfect MP.

Free application counts for **** all if it is applied by the YTP apprentice and he has been on the bucky all weekend. If you really want to try it get them to give you the kit and put it on ebay , then buy a good clay bar and some Collinite 476 and away you go.
Remember chances are it will be applied by a yoof whose idea of dream wheels is

You pump a decent bit of money into a boutique frame which should ride well and then put such crap wheels* on it – *lasted three rides on a coiler I had in 2006 after a 2foot drop.

Run Mud X on the back all year round unless there is a period of at least 3 weeks dry weather – perfect compromise between decent grip for the mud we get round here and rollability on the 4 mile of road to get to the trail

Not to pee on your party but you may have to wait a while for any recruitment to occur, unless you are willing to move to the very few brigades that will be taking on in the next year – another thing to thank the bankers for.

Is the car from the VAG group? as Volkswagen are now offering replacements at nominal prices as it is a recognised design/build issue. However this is subject to a few small clauses.

You won't go far wrong with them, I have got SLX and XT's and there is little if any difference in power or modulation, however I do prefer the shape of the SLX lever.

no, they are crap to set up and crap to keep set up.

The set I bought from you Tony are still going great and have needed little fettlin' 8)

Plus one have you been pricing around? – unless you are running a strange size they are taking the pee @ 55 quid for a parted used Pirelli – I had 4 brand new 205/16 Pirelli's fitted together with a 4 wheel laser for £240 last month

Some things are running slower at the moment as they are in the process of implementing voice picking – when this rolls out normal service will resume and get better.

Peter Allen 5 Live – just on the funny side of being a miserable bugger but will not kowtow to the establishment in the way most of the mainstream presenters do. Not all fun on Radio 5 however, Richard Bacon should have stayed on hospital radio
