Answer would be change down to fourth below 1500 if you want to accelerate or pull on any gradient- have owned 3 of them – bullet proof with regular oil & filter

Bruge is brilliant and the beer is beautiful.
Standard of driving in Belgium is shocking for Western Europe
Their full motorway system is lit for a reason -so you can see the crap concrete surface riddled with potholes.
Don’t stop at the motorway services unless you like the smell of piss.

Among the beers Wetherspoons are doing in their beer festival is this absolute belter.7.5% of West Coast citrusy style all for £1.99 a pint. If you like an IPA this is a stunner.

My father had a 2.0 tdi Yeti for three years and I used it many times. Easy to drive and ok on fuel (mid 40’s), space wise as others say boot was very small and always used Thule on towbar for bike duties, surprising amount of vibration through the steering wheel and a lot of tyre noise as the tyres got beyond 5mm of depth (went back to dealer 4 times but was always deemed to be within spec)
Definitly the wifes 4×4 octavia is more suited as a bike wagon as was easier on the fuel, much more interior space and older tech engine meant there was less to go wrong with it. Put the winter boots on it today and hoping for snow.

I believe Shimano stopped shipping them 18 months ago but did not amend the fitting instructions to account for this.

Had a Mega AM found it dead until things got fast, steep and rocky and then it started to make sense. Then bought a TR and definitly was more suited to my local trails of up and down tight technical singletrack. Don’t miss the AM do miss the TR

Need to go in with your eyes wide open- colleague bought an 06 BoxsterS from Lookers 18 months ago for 11k – good job it came with a decent warranty as it burnt through 11.5k of warranty work in 6 months – he then sold it immediately after the warranty finished as he was terrified that the rms was starting to let go

Will these run tubeless on Mavic UST Rims?
    Anyone tried?

Have run smorga’s on 719’s, 819’s, flows and i23’s and all of inflated with a 20p compressor no problem. Stunning tyre for the money.

Main question to ask – is the tyre on your wheelbarrow big enough to carry your balls?
Colleague bought an 06 Boxster S from Lookers 18 months ago for £11k – looked the part, real smart looking thing with full OPSH, he bought it with confidence as it came with a 6 month warranty. Really loved it while he was driving it, one month after the warranty ended he sold it as it had burnt through £11,400 of warranty work in those 6 months and he was terrified he was now liable for it. Scary thing was none of the warranty work was on the engine.

The power of the subconsious is amazing!!!! – according to peer recognised trials of glucosamine it is all in your head as it does not have any positive effect – however I will keep taking my dose as it seems to work for me 😛

Cheers guys – yep unfortunately it is a bit drastic as it is an area of about 20 sq metre of plasterboard that needs to be brought down and taped, also the three Velux windows fitted leak when the wind blows from the north.

Usual rules apply with a modern diesel (esp. the GM lump in a 159) unless you are doing over 20k a year the money you save in fuel will be eaten up when ever the dmf/dpf/turbo etc goes pop.

Got an 05 estate with 98k, which I got for very silly money, since I have got it I have polybushed throughout which has tightened it up considerably but also increased the nvh perhaps a bit too much. Got it noobtuned by an extra 30bhp and 50lb ft of torque all for the grand sum of £80, so now sitting at about 280hp. As tiby says the main killer on these is the sludge issue pre 2004 model when not ran on full synthetic. Get your self on UKSaabs very helpful and insightful – be aware the legend of having the ultimate in seat comfort does not apply if you are over 6ft – ask me how I know.

Had one of the first batch of Inbred decalled ones that I owned for nearly six years and in that time it had various builds and forks, superb do it all which initially felt that bit too stiff but really started to get that nice ti complience when you started to turn up the hammer. In that time triedvarious forks
Pike 454 uturns – nice and stiff and bulletproof
32 vanilla’s – lovely and plush but could be a bit overwhelmed with consecutive hits
32 rl – not nice with inconsistent damping
Lyriks – complete overkill unless hammering fast, steep and rocky
Black Box revelations – pretty much the sweet spot fork, light, stiff enough and great damping
Dual Position Sektors – 120mm for flowy singletrack, 150mm when it got steep and fast.
Would recommend fitting a Gravity dropper to increase its doitallability

On my third octavia estate done 195k over that time in 6 years, normal consumables with oil/filter every 6k,one reconditioned turbo fitted at £480 was the only non service item – car before that was a 99 gx impreza estate, was fun to drive in a wobbly but grippy way but was just too expensive to drive once I was doing over 40 miles a day

Don’t get the love – drinks like a fish, reverse tardis interior, bullet proof is great until it goes bang and you will weep at the parts prices and lots of lovely shiny plastic bits for you look look at inside.Boring choice but £3.5 – £4k will get you an Octavia 4×4 with the pd lump. Much bigger inside and half the price to run every day.

Hora must be on new medication as he seems to be talking a bit more sense some days.
9-3 diesel with the Fiat engine is a typical modern diesel, so it is prone to failure on dmf, turbo, injectors and the party piece on this engine the alternator. So any saving you will get with fuel will be blown away with any of these going pop.

If you are wanting space, value and a decent turn of speed look at a 95 aero estate. Yes you will do well to get 30mpg but much less to go wrong.
£2k will get you a very nice one.

If you are only going to carry your own bike Mont Blanc do a decent one for about £50
But the only option if you are carrying a few bikes is Thule 9403, can be got for £110 if you look at the right time- You can try mine if you want if you show me where your Magic Fairy trail is.

Regret going to university rather than getting an engineering apprenticeship.

Now work with great colleagues who are not appreciated for the work they do under management who are clowns, for a company at the centre of this website, who have really lost the plot in the last few years.

But as David and some other guys highlight, nothing really matters but your health and that of your loved ones.

Have a set of Avon Ice Touring tyres on a Octavia 4×4 and last winter during the worst of the snow was able to climb an 18% hill that a discovery three was struggling to get up. In your size on Oponeo they are doing them for £71 a corner delivered.

Running a NN Evo on 819 on the back and Stans milk – riding on a rough farmers lane last night, suddenly heard a loud intermittent metallic clinking noise caused by a very large wood screw three inches long and 1/2″ dia hitting the chain stay- pulled it out, milk sprayed everywhere but after a quick rotation and pump to get it back up to a decent pressure it was fine and tonight when out again no issue – sounds like the milk could have gone off.

were yours the factory jobs with trail adjust or just the basic evolution?

Came with the three way CTD adjust, rode them for 25 hours, adjusted the pressure and rebound constantly to try and get them to work correctly to no avail. Seemingly “they are all like this sir” according to the bike shop. Gave up and reverted to old vans which were so much better.

However rct3 revs absolutely wipe the floor with them both.

Got a set of 2013 ctd 140 floats that came on a new bike this year – was shocking how bad they were, either blow through the travel or spikey as hell, nothing in between. Reverted to some 4 year old 140 vans which are superb in comparison.
